I think that Lightning strike should be the first burn spell to be cut in all honesty. I played the Ross version at Game Day and went 3-2. The biggest killer of mine was drawing into too much mana, which may be bad luck, but it really points to fetches being crucial in this deck. Running out of gas is the death of mono red and having 6 land is an easy way to run out of gas.
