My answer comes a bit late (like 6 months) , but yes i play the R/W version and after top 8'ing some events in my area i have to say it is strictly more competitive than mono red one. This is the consensus also in the painter thread on the source : the mono-red version is recommended only if your metagame is full of greedy mana bases that just die to blood moon, while the white splash offers answers against nearly every deck plus the ability to consistently tutor up your grindstone.
It is more difficult to play though for several reasons, among them the fact that turn 1 blood moon is no more an auto-slam because then you might not be able to cast your white spells, and the bigger decision tree that enlightened tutor offers (do i just tutor grinstone and go for the fast win? or do i tutor a moon/bridge/rest in peace/random silver bullet and play a controllish game?). The key is a deep knowledge of the legacy metagame so that
you can recognize what your opponent is playing since the very first turns and play accordingly.

Unfortunately, in the last months the price of imperial recruiters has skyrocketed again. They are the only missing cards for me, it is not a big problem because in the area where i live legacy tournaments usually allow some number of proxies, but i would really like to own the entire deck.

An alternative version of this deck plays a white splash for enlightened tutor main board wich can grab all the combo pieces + blood moons + random one of cards like ensnaring bridge, rest in peace..... this way you can also play the alternative win condition of rest in peace + helm of obedience (4 rest in peace, 1 helm in side).
