What do you think about the future of burn after the last unbans?
I personally believe the deck is still good, but slightly less than before the eldrazi era. Now we lose an effective bye (tron that will have very few players) and our matchups against Ux control decks become tricky because they have a combo that gains a lot of life (and we can't stop it with command/skullcrack), and the ability to refuel with ancestral vision in the late game when the topdeck mode usually favored us.

Fallout is spectacular against robots, elves, merfolks, and decent against infect/company. I would not be too worried of killing my own creatures, because in the matchups where fallout come in, either you cut eidolon and maybe guide, or fallout is so strong that destroys the opponent completely.

Maindeck is what i play except the manabase. i have 11 fetches, 3 foundries, 1 stomping ground, 2 copperline gorge 3 mountain. This way i can take less damage, but then again i don't play firewalker in my board.... i think your manabase is fine because you need WW postboard.

I'm not sold on ensnaring bridges (i don't have a lot of experience with them but they don't seem fantastic. Sometimes too slow like against infect, sometimes they can kill you anyway like affinity equipping a plating at instant speed) and 4 revelries may be too much. if you cut the bridges and a revelry you can add another path and a couple molten rains that could be good if tron/eldrazi rise in popularity. Also i like one deflecting palm in place of something.

I think the change is good for us. Obviously amulet was a shitty matchup, and twin was always a scary card to face because especially in game one we could not do a lot if they killed us turn 4. The biggest benefit for us is that g/r tron will probably see much more play without twin in the format.

i side out a land on the draw in many matchups, but as you said it depends on the number of blazes i have. Also i don't side out lands if i am bringing in spells like molten rain or volcanic fallout.

You're too kind MDU... i think i am good with burn, but in the end my best result has been 7-2 at a regional ptq. someone here even top'8ed a gp if i recall correctly, you play much more than me and your videos are awesome, khaos is fantastic and so on....

but i just would like to be in the place where discussion has moved ; in the end i am a member of the clan (though not a historical one) and i don't want to lose all the people i met here !

I am not a fan of lists with the full set of guides, spears, nacatls, eidolons + some lavamancers for 2 reasons. The first and major one is that removal spells/big blockers become very good against you: as you said, rock/jund become even matchups and this is not a thing i am willing to accept. The second and minor one is that 18 creatures make swiftspear attack as a 1/2 too often for my taste

With that said, i am toying with nacatls too, but i just swapped eidolons for them. I like the idea of having all my creatures cost one, and eidolon is bad against all aggro decks when you are on the draw and affinity even on the play. This is just an experiment though, because i generally don't like playing 3 colors maindeck and nacatls force you to do so. i will see how it goes.

Well, it is the same maindeck i've been running forever (i was playing 3 searing blazes 1 shard volley but then i went up to 4 blazes) except for the manabase. I run 11 fetches ,3 foundries, 3 mountains, 1 stomping ground, 2 copperline gorge. This configuration lets me save even more life, but it's also true that i don't have firewalker in my board so i never need double white. Anyway i think you could for sure cut a stomping ground for a mountain, if the only green cards are 3 revelries.

My inclination is to bolt the dork almost always, just because as you said, you may get a free win if he kept a shaky hand based on that creature to help with his mana. Not killing it, you also open yourself up to turn 2 plays like kitchen finks, knight of the reliquary, loxodon smiter that would just stop your goblin guide from doing anything.
This is just my opinion, i don't think there is a universally right answer for the question, because you would need to see your opponent's hand to know what is better to do.

Ok, it won't be as long as my last reports because i'm lazy. First things first, the decklist :

[deck]
4 Goblin Guide
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
2 Grim Lavamancer

4 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Searing Blaze
4 Skullcrack
4 Boros Charm
2 Lightning Helix

11 Fetchlands
3 Sacred Foundry
2 Copperline Gorge
1 Stomping Ground
3 Mountain

3 Destructive Revelry
3 Path to Exile
2 Atarka's Command
2 Molten Rain
2 Deflecting Palm
1 Searing Blood
1 Volcanic Fallout
1 Rending Volley
[/deck]

I was a bit nervous because few days before the starcitygames modern top had been full of zoo and burn, so i expected people to be prepared for aggressive decks. I also added the 4th searing blaze in place of a shard volley in order to fight nacatls.

Round 1 against non existent deck number 1 : U/R faeries
I lost the die roll always until round 4, then always won until round 8.
He mentions that he hopes i am not playing burn because his testing mate is also on burn and he hates it.He leads with fetch into steam vents into serum visions. I obviously think it's twin but then he starts countering everything i cast with spell snare, mana leak and Spellstutter Sprite that is a terribly annoying card against us. I lose because i never draw a third land and i am not able to kill him before he kills me with his creatures. He was also playing mutavaults, scion of oona, vendilion clique and snapcaster.
Game 2 i have guide into eidolon on the play and you never lose with this draw against a tempo deck. Game 3 i flood horribly and die.
I think this matchup is a lot play/draw dependant, and you are a huge favored if you start with creatures on the play, while it's very hard to win with just burn spells because they will get countered. Anyway, who cares about this matchup ? i will probably never face it again, since usually faeries is black for bitterblossom.
Now i can't lose anymore, and i don't have high hopes.

Round 2 against u/r twin. He has exarch and pestermite but not splinter twin in the first game, and in the second one he is forced to try and combo because i am applying too much pressure but i have a path to exile.

Round 3 against small zoo with burning tree emissary/experiment one. I am in the draw which is a huge disadvantage here, but fortunately he doesn't pay enough attention to his life total and he gets a bit choked on mana both games so i win very close races. This was the match where me being a better player than him mattered the most, i think. (well, he also didn't see his firewalkers).

Round 4 against Bant merfolk. i don't know why he's playing 3 colors because i only see the usual merfolk cards, but i'm glad he loses life to his lands. I suppose he was playing company and path to exile. I win game 1 with a fast creature start, i would have been dead to spreading seas but fortunately he doesn't have it. Game 2 he has cursecatcher into spellskite into counterspells. Game 3 he is stuck on one land and concedes on turn 3.

Round 5 against uwr twin. Game 1 i think i'm playing against uwr control and i feel lucky because he never casts a lightning helix and i'm able to win fairly easily. Game 2 i'm surprised by his end of turn deceiver exarch, but he doesn't have twin, doesn't see his sideboard cards and dies, He didn't play any lightning helix, he told me.

If you noticed it, until now i only faced matchups that i consider from even to slightly unfavorable. The top tables were filled with jund and living end and i never got to play against them due to losing my first match and always being paired down.

Round 6 and round 7, however, are both against living end which is very very difficult to lose. The only game i lose is because he casts Gnaw to the Bone , gains 10, than flashbacks it and gains another ten. I could have hold a skullcrack and played around it but i didn't expect it.

Round 8 against non existent deck number 2: U/W control anti-burn.
Let me start with saying that u/w control is a terribly bad deck in modern. Besides the fact that playing control is always bad because there are too much things to face in the format and the tools control has at disposal are not powerful enough to fight them all (you don't have counterspell, you don't have force of will), playing straight u/w means that you rely only on path to exile to kill early attackers, and path to exile is a very bad card to cast on turn one and makes your mana leaks worse.
Anyway, game one i keep a one lander and immediately draw land, so he is basically dead when he casts a timely reinforcements. I don't care because i have double goblin guide, eidolon and swiftspear on the board and i just keep attacking. The next turn he casts another timely reinforcements. I am still in good shape but i now decide to not attack with eidolon because i don't want him to trade with 2 tokens. If i attacked with him i would have won this game because the next turn he casts supreme verdict so i missed two damage. i am still fine after the verdict, i have enough burn spells to kill him in a couple turn, the problem is that the following turn he casts the third timely reinforcements. i consider flipping the table but i stay calm even when he reaches 5 mana to snapcaster timely reinforcements.
Game 2, i have all the skullcracks and atarka's commands in the world, but instead of gaining life he casts a geist on turn 3, so i start to burn him and in the end he wins at one life point because : - i draw a molten rain that doesn't let me cast two spells in a turn - he has a prairie stream instead of any land that would have dealt him damage or come into play tapped.
When i looked at the decklist, i saw he was playing just 3 reinforcements main deck (and 2 chalice of the void in side as relevant cards against me that anyway are also problematic for him), so yes, i lost the pro tour qualification just because my opponent drew the only three cards in his deck that could have saved him. If he cast 2 of them, i still would have won. If i knew a bit better what he was playing, i would have played slightly different and would have won. If he didn't have island plains prairie stream in game 2, any fetch would have killed him. If i didn't lose the first round of the tournament, i wouldn't have gotten paired down in the last one ( i had 18 points while this u/w control player had 16) To clarify : i was not and am not salty, going to the pro tour is not an essential ambition in my life, but now that some days have passed i have a little bitter feeling because i realize that it's possible i may never have this occasion again. I don't play a ton of magic anymore, winning a preptq and then a ptq is very difficult as is winning a gp, and now that i came that close is sad to fail in such a strange way. I just wish i lost to any normal deck, it would have felt better, but life goes on :)

Now that there is the option to scry i think it is correct to be a little more aggressive with mulligans.
I always mulled 4 landers (unless they were very good like guide eidolon searing blaze) and now i will have no doubt anymore in doing so. This deck loses mostly due to flooding, so i prefer to keep one landers (unless they have almost only 2 cost spells) rather than 4 landers.

I won a tarmogoyf in a 20 people event, deck is the same i posted last times, i just swap sideboard cards basing on what i expect to face.
After losing the first round to uwr geist due to horrible misplays i made, i managed to refocus and beat a bant control brew, bant midrange with geist (don't know why there were all these bant decks), grixis control, esper mentor, merfols and grixis midrange (with lavamancers snapcasters pyromancers and tasigurs).
I have to remember not to play too conservatively... sometimes i didn't cast turn 2 eidolon because i wanted to keep up skullcrack/command against timely reinforcements/helix, but usually you just can't afford that. i just have to jam my threats and don't be afraid of their sideboard cards.
I will look for someone willing to trade an imperial recruiter for my tarmo XD i need recruiter for edh and maybe legacy if i ever get to play that format again

I board him out just on the draw. i find that on the play the best way to win is just tempo them out with early creatures (i know this also because i played only goblins in modern for like 2 years when i didn't have fetches nor shocks, and i never lost against merfolks despite not having piledriver yet), because a lot of their early plays (cursecatcher vial spreading seas) are just ridiculously bad against an early rush of creatures.
Another thing i do is just keep in the deck as many spells that only cost one colored mana as possible, because spreading seas is probably their best card against us. If i have to chose boarding out boros charm or skullcrack, for example, i usually keep in skullcrack. Of course there are some double red spells that are too good not to play like searing effects.

I don't bring in path against abzan/jund. My hand is likely to get significantly reduced by inquisitions of kozilek and liliana, so i want every card i have to deal damage. Exiling a goyf is nice, but we want to just kill them rather then deal with their creatures, because this approach will just give them time to turn the corner and draw into lifegain cards (thragtusk, huntmaster, feed the clan). Yes, sometimes goyf will be their only threat and killing him will buy us a lot of drawsteps, but this is not very likely because they're not so threat-light (goyf, ooze, manlands, big random creatures). Sometimes path to exile will let our creatures attack and deal damage, but typically they just kill all our creatures with their million removals. So overall i just prefer to have any of my non land cards deal damage, i bring in from sideboard just molten rains and extra anti life gain spells. Some time ago i cut my searing blazes, but i think they should stay in because ooze has usually to be killed and goyf, though he will not usually die, is a target anyway.

regarding the balance between sideboard cards against aggro and control decks, well, i just overload with anti aggro cards. I think we are already favored against slower decks (GBx, scapeshift, tron....), while things like robots and zoo can cause serious problems. Furthermore, cards against aggressive decks are way more impactful than cards against control decks (things like searing blood and volcanic fallout are a beating for robots, while molten rain is good but it is a 3 mana sorcery that is extremely likely to get countered). My current sideboard is :

-3 destructive revelry
-2 searing blood
-2 volcanic fallout
-2 path to exile
-2 deflecting palm
-2 molten rain
-2 atarka's command

I hate merfolk, it is just winnable if you are on the play and have a fast start with a couple creatures. Otherwise spreading seas, cursecatcher, tidebinder mage, random counterspells or even monastery siege just ruin your day. I feel like everything has to go perfect to win against them.

Yes, i board all the searing effects i have at disposal (although if they land a kira they are the worst cards ever), volcanic fallout if i have it, and sometimes a couple revelries. i tend to avoid totally reactive cards like path or palm.
I side out anti life gain cards and on the draw eidolon. If it's possible i like not to play 3 colors after board because spreading seas it's already devastating and i don't want to make it completely unbeatable.

I never have access to the full 8 searing effects in the 75. They can just be clunky at times and you need space in sideboard for other things.
I like having 6 though, and usually i have all 6 in my deck against the mirror post side. I know sometimes they may have no creature to target, but the mirror is basically a coinflip and you can get an edge only relying on swingy cards like helix, firewalker, and searing effects. I like taking the risk of having a dead card in hand if that card is a 2 for 1 when it works.

Waiting to play eidolon is not the way to go. We maindeck him because we always want to be the aggressor game 1, so the correct play is just jam him turn 2 and have the opponent either find an answer for him or lose life while casting other spells. If we are both losing life it's completely fine, i don't mind being at one life if my opponent is dead. Of course you have to play carefully with an eidolon on the board, not just empty your hand brainlessly.

The only decks against which eidolon is really bad are the mirror if you are on the draw, and affinity even if you are on the play because they can just empty their hand turn one sometimes. Against any green deck with lots of creatures (zoo, company) i usually board him out on the draw and keep him in on the play.

In the end he is usually not that different from keldon marauder, because he will just get killed and deal two to the opponent. But the huge upside is that if they can't kill him, they could just lose on the spot because they can't cast their spells.

Won my second preptq in a row with burn ... i'm always more convinced that this deck is the best thing you can play in modern right now. Decklist just for reference :

[deck]
4 Goblin Guide
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
2 Grim Lavamancer

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Rift Bolt
4 Skullcrack
4 Boros Charm
3 Searing Blaze
2 Lightning Helix
1 Shard Volley

12 fetchlands
2 Sacred Foundry
2 Copperline Gorge
1 Stomping Ground
3 Mountain

3 Destructive Revelry
2 Molten Rain
2 Atarka's Command
2 Path to Exile
2 Deflecting Palm
2 Searing Blood
2 Volcanic Fallout
[/deck]

The manabase is not ideal , basically i didn't want to run 2 stomping grounds only for sideboard cards, but i was paranoid that having just one could make me vulnerable to ghost quarter/tectonic edge or twin tapping my only green source, so i added the copperline gorges that are basically free, although sometimes having your 4th land come into play tapped may hurt.

Highlight of the day was beating in the semifinals an uwr opponent that crushed me in the swiss and claimed burn is his best matchup. Game 1 i blanked his helices because i had triple skullcrack, game 2 he mulled to 4 never finding more than one land and/or a leyline and i left him angry as hell.

Played in a small event yesterday at fnm with the gruul version --- Atarka's command didn't impress me, i never had absurd creature draws where it did 5+ damages ..... it is good, but not boros charm level i think (though i obviously need more testing). What the gruul version really improves is fighting against leyline, because with my deck yesterday i could play postboard 4 guides, 4 swiftspears, 4 eidolon, 3 grim lavamancer (attacking for 1 is better than nothing), 1 keldon marauder (added this last minute because i wanted one more creature to pump with command, was undecided between zurgo and keldon but opted for the latter because at least he always deals 2 damages), 4 atarka's command, 4 destructive revelry, 3 molten rain. That's 27 cards that don't care about leyline, and eventually you will get to destroy it or use your bolts as removal spells.
Unfortunately the mirror gets very difficult --- i reached the finals and lost to boros burn with helices and 4 kor firewalker... well, i had 2 pyrite spellbomb but he was playing 4 of them so he was favoured.Anyway i won 2 modern master boosters and opened karn :)

I won two weeks ago a PPTQ with burn, here's a report ( i already did a longer one for an italian website so it took me a bit of time to post here ).
There were 30 people, not a very bg event. Decklist :

[deck]4 Goblin Guide
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
3 Grim Lavamancer

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Skullcrack
4 Boros Charm
3 Searing Blaze
1 Lightning Helix
1 Forked bolt

12 fetchlands
3 Sacred Foundry
5 Mountain

3 Molten rain
3 Smash to Smithereens
2 Flames of the Blood Hand
2 searing Blood
2 Rending Volley
1 Deflecting Palm
1 Lightning Helix
1 Path to Exile
[/deck]

Round 1 vs Abzan Company

Game 1. I'm on the draw and I know what he plays, i think it's not a very good matchup. Fortunately he starts with no mana accelerator, i go turn 1 Guide into turn 2 Blaze his anafenza and in the end i win a close game after he gains life with a kitchen fink.

In: +2 searing Blood + 1 Path to Exile + 1 Lightning Helix + 2 Flames Out -4 Guide -2 Boros Charm
i want to be able to control his board while stopping lifegain, so i drop 2 Charms because they only go the face and 4 guides because i am on the draw and i prefer keeping swiftspear that can attack past anafenza and melira if you cast a spell. On the play i would have kept in goblin guides and sided out all 4 boros charms and 2 lava spikes.

Game 2 . he starts with birds and after thinking a little bit i opt to bolt it despite having searing blaze in hand. he doesn't have any other land for 2 turns and i win easily. Always bolt the bird !!!

1-0

Round 2 vs G/R Tron
Game 1: i am on the play and happy to see tron. Unfortunately i have a lot of creatures and i am worried about pyroclasm, but he doesn't have it so i win very fast.

In: +3 Molten Rain +2 Flames +3 Smash to Smithereens +1 path to exile + 1 Deflecting Palm Out -3 Searing Blaze -3 Grim Lavamancer -1 Lightning Helix -1 Forked Bolt -2 Boros Charm
It is already a good matchup and i realize i have a lot of sideboard cards for it so i think it gets even better postboard. i want to stop lifegain, avoid wurmcoil connecting and disrupt his gameplan estroying lands and artifacts. I am unsure if siding in path and palm because they are reactive but i think they are worth it to stop wurmcoil. I side out boros charms instead of say lava spike or rift bolt because i always prefer the burn spell that costs less, given that i am already rasing up the curve when sideboarding.

game 2 : he keeps a one lander with chromatic stars to cycle and feed the clan / thraghtusk. He doesn't draw land in time and even if he did gaining 5 life would not have been enough. i think he should have mulled.

2-0

Round 3 Vs Merfolk

Game 1 : playing against a friend. He is favoured overall but i am confident if i start on the play. I am on the draw instead but with double searing blaze i manage to win.

In: + 2 searing blood + 1 Lightning Helix + 1 Path to Exile +2 Smash to Smithereens. Out: 4 Skullcrack 2 Boros Charm.
Sideboarding like this is risky because both searing blaze and searing blood are neutralized by kira, and smash to smithereens is not guaranteed to have targets. But this spells are all extremely good if they work and i think they are needed to try and win an otherwise quite difficult matchup. On the draw i would have taken out all Eidolons and kept in burn spells.

Game 2 : I lose due to Spreading Seas turning 2 lands into islands. This will be the theme of the day until top 8 match

Game 3 : I keep a one lander with lots of one drops. i know i am dead to spreading sead but o think mulling is worse. I can't look for a good six cards hand that is also good against mana denial because that would mean having few spells that are probably not good enough to win. i think it is better to keep and hope that either he doesn't have the enchantent or i draw lands. He has it, i draw only burn and i lose.

2-1

Round 4 vs Abzan
Game 1: He is one of the better players in my area but i am happy to see he is on abzan. I am on the draw and Start very well and get him to 3, but then draw 2 lands and grim lavamancer and lose to tarmogoyf beats.

In : +2 Flames +3 Molten rain +1 Lightning Helix Out : 3 Grim Lavamancer 1 Forked Bolt 2 Swiftspears
i may be wrong but i just don't want to side in reactive cards like path and palm against abzan. If i were on the draw i would have prbably sided out more swiftspears and less lavamancers, because the monk is less likely to be relevant on the draw and lavamancer also shrinks graveyards which is good.

game 2 : i start with guide that reveals feed the clan then obstinate baloth. I think i'm dead but in the end guide does a ton of damage, he has to use his spell to gain only 5 life and baloth is stopped by my skullcrack.

game 3 : Similar to game one, i need to topdeck my final burn spell. I draw several lands but fortunately he doesn't see any lifegain. i make a mistake casting a bolt instead of suspending rift bolt .... next turn i draw skullcrack but i have only 4 mana so i can't cast both skull and rift bolt and win. So i have to suspend rift bolt, pass the turn, and he draws baloth but thanks god my topdecked skullcrack saves me. i was very lucky and made a very bad mistake. Opponent is very salty, he hates burn and shows me 2 baloths and 3 feed the clans in sideboard. Also other people will complain during the day about how playing burn is stupid and boring and you only need luck to win. i don't know , part of me wants to explain carefully to them how idiotic their arguments are and/or punch them in the face while saying how bad are the decks they are playing , but part of me is happy because this attitude make people undervalue burn and not prepare for it. So i just ignore them.

3-1

Round 5 : ID against abzan. We play for fun and i lose 2-1.

3-1-1

Top 8 against merfolk, same opponent as before

Game 1. I am obviously on the draw and obviously lose to double spreading seas. i start damning islands and praying the gods of the mountains to save me while the crowd is very entertained to see me keep losing to spreading seas.

Games 2 and 3 : He has once a spreading seas when i kept a one lander, then double spreading seas when i kept a two lander. But both times i topdeck land after land and win :) that's how magic works, in the end i think he was more lucky to always have spreading seas than i was drawing lands. He only has 4 seas while i have 20 mana sources.

Top 4 against UWR control

Game 1:
Really didn't expect to see this deck and i hope he doesn't draw a ton of helices. He has 2 of them plus snapcaster so he gains 9 life while annihilating my board. Later he casts sphinx's for 3 so he gained 12 life overall. Despite this the game went very long because he didn't manage to draw his finishers and i drew a lot of gas, i was at 4 life and he was like 6-7 life. We both made a mistake : early in the game i took 2 free damages casting eidolon first then swiftspear, and that could have been very relevant. In the last turns he has a cryptic command and i cast a goblin guide : for some unknown reasons, instead of counter draw he bounces it and draws (he thought it would have been nice to see if he drew a land from my guide). It turns out he has no removal and i win thanks to that guide. despite mistakes it was the best game of the event.

In: +2 Flames +3 Molten rain +1 Smash to Smithereens Out : 3 Grim lavamancer 3 searing blaze

I know he plays at least one batterskull and i also expect spellskite so i board in one artifact destruction spell.

Game 2:
I have triple eidolon but he casts timely reinforcements turn 3 then does nothing until dropping batterskull. So he gains too much life while i kill myself with eidolons.

game 3 : This time also i have lots of creatures and double eidolon. the crowd makes jokes about me always having eidolon. he doesn't gain any life , no helix, no reinforcements, and he is overwhelmed by my army.

Finals against G/R tron

Very uneventful match, i win in 2 games with him opposing zero resistance.

So i am now qualified to a ptq the 27th of june. I don't even know if i want to go because reaching the location (Turin) will cost me quite a bit, but if i go i will get foil Liliana of the veil that would in part refund me, and have some free boosters (the format is sealed). Time will tell, what is important is that i burnt people to death.

Rx Burn

Very happy to see your videos again ! I missed them, watching people play burn is a healthy habit .
As for your decklist, i think three palms are too much because they are a reactive card. And i wouldn't board them in against scapeshift.... i would include some number of molten rains to fight scapeshift, tron , abzan, control....
I hope you try to play with eidolon soon because it is an absurd card and having more creatures is good with command.

Rx Burn

In my experience the match is decided in grixis favor by dragon's claw or a very early tasigur. If neither of them happens, burn wins easy.
Also if you fear grixis delver start playing searing blood in your board, it is amazing against delver/pyromancer/snapcaster decks

Rx Burn

I actually HOPE that people play leyline as burn hate rather than other silly cards like phirexian unlife and feed the clan for 2 reasons :
- leyline is actually very beatable when you have access to creatures, destructive revelry, atarka's command, molten rain plus others i might be forgetting.
-leyline must be played as a 3-4 of so you can side in your revelries safely against it, while if you play against a singleton unlife you can't side in reverly and you are screwed if they draw it.

Re: Rx Burn

I've gone as far as playing 2 maindeck molten rains main deck, 2 molten rains and 2 cryoclasm sideboard. People are not prepared to see their lands blown up, but also i just love land destruction so i am biased. Anyway if you play 20 lands i feel like 3 molten rains in sideboard are perfects, they are a very good tool against control/midrange/combo decks (anything but aggro)

Re: Rx Burn

searing blood is an option i always have 2 in my board because extra searing blazes are always fantastic against decks with creatures.

You can't argue that playing 3 colors rather than 2 is not a cost. The cost is taking an average of 6 damages from your lands (fetch + untapped shockland) every game, or slow down your gameplan by fetching tapped shocklands, not to mention that sometimes you could be color screwed. I agree that atarka's command is on par with boros charm for powerlevel, but this doesn't change the fact that decks like zoo and affinity have an average faster goldfish than burn if undisrupted because they play more efficient creatures than us. Against these decks, everytime you take 3 damages you are possibly losing a drawstep because they might kill you before you kill them. Even against decks like abzan, g/w, really anything that can remotely present a race with creatures, taking too much damages from lands can result in one less drawstep, that may be the one you need to topdeck the final burn spells. Now, if i knew i would be playing all the time against control or combo, for sure i would be playing all the most efficient burn spells and don't care about damage at all .... but this is not the case, and while atarka's command deserves attention, it is not guaranteed that the 3 color build with command and charm is the best.
At this point i think we could consider 3 builds : boros with revelries in sideboard, naya with both command and charm maindeck, or even straight gruul if you decide that command is even better than boros charm and don't want to go tricolor. The best build probably depends from the metagame, the less aggro you see the more incentive you have to play 3color. If my meta was infested with affinity, i would probably just play mono red and be happy with it. Now the current top decks are infect, affinity, abzan, twin, and burn. Playing 3 colors you have a worse matchup against affinity and the mirror, but a better one against infect abzan and twin. The choice is up to you.
And by the way, congratulations for the result warwizard !

I've been playing 3 lavamancers maindeck for months now and they never disappointed me.
I also tested 4 atarka's command and 4 boros charm main deck and came to the conclusion that going full 3 color requires too much damage from fetching (i already knew it, but every time they spoil a good new card i get excited and try to play it at any cost). Now i only play a couple commands in sideboard, alongside 3 destructive revelries for a total of 5 green cards.

Congrats for the result !
I strongly agree with shard volley as a one-of. It's always the last card you play (unless you absolutely need to kill something and don't have other removal), but the fact that it costs 1 rather than 2 can win games ..... mana efficiency is absurdly important in burn. I think it can also be played as a 2 of, but if you want to be super safe just play one and you won't regret it.
About atarka's command, i'm just tempted to play 4 boros charm and 4 commands main deck. Stock lists already play 14-15 creatures (depending on the number of lavamancers), and that's enough to make command as strong as boros charm when you don't need the anti life gain clause. Not to mention possible blowouts when you draw a creature heavy hand. That said i know that going full 3 colors will hurt, but i will try because if there is a card that can make the splash worth it, it is atarka's command.

Wow, i'm running well with burn. yesterday i won a 20 people event and took home a gp foil goblin guide(because the deck wanted it) and a geist of saint traft (because i don't know, i may play him in sideboard one day). This is the list i'm using recently .

[deck]4 Goblin Guide
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
3 Grim Lavamancer
4 Lava Spike
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Skullcrack
4 Boros Charm
3 Searing Blaze
1 Lightning Helix
1 Shard Volley

12 Fetches
2 Sacred Foundry
1 Stomping Ground
5 Mountain

4 Destructive Revelry
3 Molten Rain
2 Combust
2 Flames of the Blood Hand
2 Lightning Helix
2 Searing Blood[/deck]

i started playing with swiftspears as you can see. They're ok but i don't think they are superior to devil in absolute. They are more consistent, while devil is more explosive, he offers more rewards but also more risks. I will stick with swiftspears anyway because when atarka's command will be legal i will want creatures that stay on the battlefield so i can pump them.

I lost one game to the same opponent casting phyrexian unlife. I also read last paulo vitor's article on channelfireball where he recommends playing that fucking enchantment against burn. Unfortunately he is right, the card is basically unbeatable unless we side in destructive revelry which would be wrong for the most part. i just hope people will not realize this thing ..... i can try to beat feed the clan and rest for the weary, but not phyrexian unlife.

Last fnm every opponent i faced had burn hate .... despite this i won and took home a scalding tarn. The only game i lost was against an esper build that cast a one of phyrexian unlife against me ... that card is extremely difficult to beat because it gains ten life for 3 mana and is not affected by our anti lifegain cards. I hope such weird techs don't become the norm.
And i agree that boarding in combust just to clear away blockers is a mistake ..... so the new card from dragons is a strict upgrade, unless they eventually print an exarch equivalent with 5 toughness.
I'm waiting for the new set to come out to rock burn with 4 boros charm and 4 atarka's commands ; i think the new card is the real deal and hope burn doesn't become too strong/too widely played because i don't want wizards to do something like ban lava spike (although it would be comical)
