I talked to Ivan, he is sponsored by my LGS. If I can distill some (deserved?) arrogance out of his comments - he had a big information advantage of knowing essentially everyone's elses 75 while they didn't always get what he was doing. Specifically he mentioned that people would hang back to block ...

My comment about Jace's Ingenuity/Aetherspouts is that you can hold up 5 mana and if they play around spouts you draw 3.

This whole format is going to be a big pile o' midrange isn't it??

Running out of gas seems bad which is why I like Dragon Mantle. Also a mana sink. Weirdly I like Prophetic Flamespeaker > Rabblemaster should we up the curve (probably shouldn't).

http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=12049 - second deck. I don't think this is much better. Swan Song + Searing Blood was cute though. Mindswipe and Deflecting Palm look like cards that swap in vs. control or aggro, respectively. Having 4x of each would be kinda funny in a mirror match. I t...

has anyone tried Circle of Flames (I had to check, it is mono-directional so none of or stuff dies) ? As we are all aware, mono red has trouble with enchantments, MUD usually doesn't run enchantment removal Circle of Flame doesn't work on fliers. Which makes it not really super good against MU.... ...

I think one could get a very warped view of one's matchups against MonoU if you only played a few matches. In either direction. I don't think any deck outside of UW control can beat a MonoU nut draw (I mean, that's why it's a NUT DRAW). But their meh draws are pretty hopeless against us. Postboard t...

Maybe with no chained we don't no need magma jet. Maybe stoke the flames lets us play magic with either 2 lands (cast dudes, convoke stoke) or 6 - hard cast stoke.

Maybe THIS is the brain-dead count to 20 burn deck that everyone complains about!

Hardcasting stoke seems pretty much worse than everything normally played. I think the allure is that you can deal 4 for 2 or even zero. I actually think it's good against monoU or non-black monsters or constellation or dredge where you may be assembling some kind of board state. You may even be hol...

From Adam Yurchick on tcgplayer.com (talking about Aggressive Mining)
When Boros Burn draws a high-concentration of spells, it nearly always wins, but in practice it must always deal with the issues of mana flood
Clearly spoken like someone who has never actually played the deck.

I actually think you would have to play the deck more than a little to get this, not just play against it. When you play against it, it seems like "oh, of course they have the burn spell" It's by far the most difficult part. There is an inflection point in every game where you have to &quo...

Doesn't EIdolon do some work against blue? Shortening the game against a deck that needs to drop a 4-drop to win seems ok. Obviously Firedancer is good. 2/3/3 EoGR/SFD/YP?
