Playing Iroas with so many evasive creatures seems counterproductive. He wants to be in a low curve aggro deck, not a deck topping out with Aurelia.
I really just want to play those cards, and nothing tier 1 or 2 has been even close to viable for the battalion mechanic. I wish it was. I might try to force this and see what happens I guess it what im saying, Lol! There are some lower curve guys with battalion so it has the potential to curve out with decent protection from boros charm and legions initiative. I really really don't think anything will come of it, but man I wanna bash people's face with those r/w angels.

Ya, Iroas maybe has a shot for a Boros Midrange ala Tajic, aurelia, firemane avenger. Being hard to block and indestructible makes battalion maybe a little more reasonable? Idk, I want to play it just because I've wanted a shell for firemane avenger since I smashed face with it back in draft.Iroas is pretty mediocre without a lot of help coming in Journey. Purphoros probably dealing as much damage on the whole in Red Devotion and red aggro doesn't need help getting around the like 4 people still playing Caryatid's. If actual Boros aggro ala Ben Lundquist / Pat Cox style is good again then Iroas could have a legitimate place to exist.
UR God I want to be good, but it's SO SLOW.
UR god -- america control? America will be much easier to
play consistently with the new temple. Plus I heart Izzet charm <3

I don't use my degree for my profession -- but the fact I have one is good enough for anywhere I've applied. They haven't even cared what it was in. Most employers like to see it because it shows you can finish something. I have a degree in Biblical studies with a minor in music, was a pastor for 7 years, and now am the Ops Director for an A/C company. My past work/studies have nothing to do with what I'm doing now. I have a wife, a beautiful daughter, and my outlet is Church/Volunteering and MTG/Gaming. I don't have all my stuff together by any means, but sticking with something to completion is a big deal no matter what you're trying to accomplish. Keep on keeping on brother =/

@dechs I haven't really played it enough, but from what I've played it has been fun. Everyone talks about the druid and priest being OP, but I've had some success with all of them really. The game im most excited about being a part of is HEX though. I did the kickstarter so I'm in the alpha, and they just released the patch for booster drafts. Holy crap is it fun to draft that game. Everything about it has been awesome so far, the biggest draw to me being that they built it for virtual only, so they purposefully make cards do things that paper cards could never do -- ie make 10 copies of this trap card and shuffle them into opponents deck, and when they draw that card they take 5 damage. Another cool one is the keyword *escalation*, everytime you cast that spell the text on the card changes and becomes more powerful. Really cool mechanics, loving it so far.

QP total up to 11 -- 4 more for qp's to qualify for prelim =D. I've been running 1 SBD main, 2 wear/tear, 2 fated conflag s/b w the rest very similar. I wanted to slant my s/b toward 3 matchups -- control, g/r monsters, and b/w midrange/control. Been going really well. On the draw vs g/r monsters in the 8 man I just won I curved, s/b on his t2 elf, wear/tear his courser, chains his polu and play phoenix, t4 helix, t5 sbd. Was gross. Was the best game I've played on the draw vs g/r monsters.

I'm not going to take the time to find it right now but there's a very old article by Mike Flores about why it's important to always shuffle your opponent's deck. Pile shuffling isn't random and if they pick up those piles and then mash them just a few times, they can still know what to expect from where you cut. But if you mash shuffle about 7 times, taking the cut at slightly different places each time, you know for a fact their deck is sufficiently randomized.[/quote]
Oh I know there's a chance they could be that kind of player -- I'm simply going to let them be that kind of player and let their karma beat them if that's how they want to be. I've played magic for about 5 or so years (with a break in the middle when I sold all my cards to pay for my baby's furniture before she was born), and have never cut an opponents deck. I don't like people messing up my cards (which they will sometimes do with their
janky shuffling), so I extend the same courtesy I'd like to be given.

Whenever I play REL I use the dragon shields just because nobody whines about them and they will stand up to the feverish shuffling my opponents subject my cards to hoping that it will affect my draws if they shuffle my deck 400 times. Me? I just tap their deck and you're good. I've had people call a judge on me because I didn't shuffle their deck -- the judge comes over, asks if i saw them shuffle, I say yes, and they say alright. We're done here. Who knew that trusting fellow magic players can put them on tilt before we start, LOL.

So since Khaos posted about his PTQ w/ the R/W burn, I figured I would as well
I ran a very similar list, identical m/b with the previous iteration of the s/b -- 4x chained, 4x satyr, 3x spark trooper, 3 toil/trouble, 1 firedancer
I played 8 rounds, SEVEN OF WHICH were g/r monsters. One of them splashed black for a little removal, but it was still exactly g/r monsters.
Satyr firedancer, spark trooper, and searing blood were the all-stars. If I could searing his mana dorks early and keep them off their beats for a turn or two I was generally good. If they didnt rip Domri with an active creature I could usually take out all their creatures with firedancer. I was fine when they wasted a mortars on him -- that still meant they spent a turn doing nothing for their board.
R8 was mono black, which was a rofflestomp. G1 was searing
blood a packrat, skullcrack in response to Gary, helix to the face. G2 was a ginormous trouble to the face that he couldn't recover from despite putting 2 demons out. If only just ONE of my other matchups was anything but g/r monsters, I most likely would've squeeked out one more win.
Spark trooper was an all star in every match I played him, he was generally enough lifegain to keep me in it for one more turn. Double searing blood to a stormbreath was pretty awesome too =D. Firedancer was great in this matchup, he always did serious work. I'm anxious to try out blind obedience out, and love using the viashino instead of trouble. Trouble definitely has done work for me, but the viashino feels so much more consistent. My only fear with him is last breath, but oh well!
Ended up 6-2, losing 2 matches to g/r monsters that just curved out too well. I'm happy that I scraped out that many wins vs my least favorite matchup, and was still able to come in 13th.
Love playing this deck, and can't wait to
make the few changes.
