How is it good against Affinity? I'm only asking because I'm aware that Cranial Plating and Ensoul gets around the 4 drop that stymies the robot offense.

I think that Swiftspear forces you to sequence your spells differently, and as a result, suboptimal plays are made. Plus, I don't think it's needed at all for the deck.

Off topic, but thoughts on Burn splashing for Cruise?

When I was a child, the Swiftspears ran their Treasure Cruises into my family, killing them all. From that day on, I put a jihad on them and their blue mana.


And Allah help me, if you play Treasure Cruise in a Burn build, I'll put a jihad on you too.

I know that I have no place in this thread since I'm not playing this deck, but having played against this deck A LOT during numerous GP Orlando win-a-box events, I must say that I'm glad that you guys aren't trying to force Swiftspear. It's fucking terrible in this build. I'm only saying this as a Burn player that routinely beat up on every up-and-comer thinking that they could turn a Legacy Open deck into a potential Khans box winner.

And if you guys start discussing Mutagenic Growth as a possible card in the deck, I will find you and I will kill you.

As a Burn player, I can attest. You cannot reasonably race a YP$ and his tokens. You'd be a fool to try.

Countering a Burn spell with SSS may "gain you some life" but you're way off the mark when you say you're "pressuring a Burn player's total."

As for the YP$ builds, those do have a worse time against Burn than the Fae build since they usually inflict more damage on themselves in the early game. At least, that's how it has traditionally been in my experience. YP$ himself, however, is something I try not to ignore because he does have the capability to get out of hand and actually pressure my life total. But a few things have to go wrong on my end for that to happen, though.

As a Burn player, I have never given a single flying fuck about a Spellstutter.

It's an older list, but it checks out. I was about to clear it.

I'm curious to try the 19-20 land version with T-Maw. Greedy, I know, but my current list has almost 15 cantrips, so seeing 5 lands shouldn't be that tough.

If so, I recommend Incinerate over that since Affinity with Welding Jar is a thing right now.

Val, do you really have 2 Searing Spear in your list?

I think if you expect to see a lot of Zoo, the Spell Snare is better than the Spell Pierce.

Don't forget that the decks packing BB will also be playing Thoughtseize. The most powerful thing you can do is T1 'seize into T2 BB. Remember that. So long, BB counter-we hardly knew ye.
