Goblins!

Here's the thing about War Marshall - he helps one of the best cards in your deck stay one of the best cards in your deck ( I'm talking about Foubdry Street Denizen). He's an amazing blocker againt the other aggro decks and is the absolute best target for Grenade.

War Zone isn't greedy. It's well worth it, but it's also why I run a Mountain in the sideboard so i can board it out when I need too.

I really think you need the 4th Goblin Grenade.

Also, try Contested Warzone. It's like Bushwhacker #5 most of the time.

And no War Marshal? Say it isn't so!

I have one better:

[deck]Goblin Burn[/deck]

No lords = no dreams crushed. This deck is lean and mean and is actually better than Burn.

The Mono Red list may just as well be the pure version of the deck. It has a really good sideboard against Burn; Pyrite Spellbomb and Dragon's Claw do some work.

Yeah, it's possible that the command could run main over the rampagers. I can't test any of that until Dragons comes out on MTGO.

For reference, here was my starting point:

[deck]
Creature 28
4 Goblin Guide
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Dragon Fodder
4 Mogg War Marshal
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Chieftain

Burn 12
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Goblin Grenade
4 Stoke the Flames

Land 20
4 Teetering Peaks
16 Mountain

Sideboard 15
2 Electrickery
2 Blood Moon
2 Relic of Progenitus
2 Pyrite Spellbomb
2 Dragon's Claw
2 Dismember
2 Shattering Spree
1 Smash to Smithereens
[/deck]

I still stand by that list. I'm convinced that Stoke is necessary in this shell not just for late game inevitability, but for dealing with problem creatures like Spellskite, Baloth, Wall of Omens, Colonnade, Exarch, and whatever else. It's usually free to cast since the deck makes a lot of 1/1s.

Here's something that I do want to try, pending the release of the next set:

[deck]
Creature 30
1 Zurgo Bellstriker
4 Goblin Guide
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Foundry Street Denizen
3 Dragon Fodder
3 Mogg War Marshal
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Chieftain
3 Ghor Clan Rampager

Spells 10
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Goblin Grenade
3 Stoke the Flames

Land 20
3 Teetering Peaks
3 Arid Mesa
3 Bloodstained Mire
3 Wooded Foothills
3 Stomping Ground
5 Mountain

Sideboard 15
3 Blood Moon
3 Rending Volley
3 Destructive Revelry
3 Shattering Spree
3 Atarka's Command[/deck]

I gave photodyer my work in progress tonight on Facebook, so I only feel that it's fair to share here on what I've been testing.

[deck]
Creature 27
1 Spikeshot Elder
4 Goblin Guide
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Foundry Street Denizen
3 Dragon Fodder
3 Mogg War Marshal
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Chieftain

Spells 13
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Goblin Grenade
3 Boros Charm
3 Stoke the Flames

Land 20
3 Teetering Peaks
3 Arid Mesa
3 Bloodstained Mire
3 Wooded Foothills
3 Sacred Foundry
5 Mountain

Sideboard 15
3 Blood Moon
3 Path to Exile
3 Wear // Tear
3 Shattering Spree
3 Dragon's Claw
[/deck]

Now, there's some room in the board to tweak, but the general idea is to swap the least efficient burn spells in a match with something like a hoser card.

As you've noticed, it uses the MOST powerful Burn spells that you can use. The advantage of the deck is to go wide with a tremendous amount of board power and then use the spells as reach/removal/protection. I feel like the deck does that very well.

Boros Charm is great at protecting your board position. Stoke has been amazing, especially in the Twin/Scapeshift matches. Though, I wouldn't go up to 4 just yet. I did for awhile and I died sometimes without being able to cast the other 1.

Goblins! is definitely NOT what people are expecting right now, and it seems to have access to strong cards that the format is weak too. It also has a much better (and consistent) goldfish than Burn.

Anyways, since the cat is now out of the bag, feel free to call me an idiot for playing this. :V

2 Arid Mesa
4 Bloodstained Mire

Sideboard 15
3 Rakdos Charm

I entered in a DE and failed miserabley.

R1: Merfolk 2-0

R2: Twin 0-2 Had the combo turn 4 both times.

R3: Ensoul Affinity 1-2 We were trading back and forth in Game 3 until I drew Mountains for 4 consecutive turns, which bought him enough time to restock his robot army.

And then I dropped. :suicide:

I played this last night:

[deck]
Creature 28
4 Goblin Guide
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Legion Loyalist
2 Spikeshot Elder
4 Mogg War Marshal
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Chieftain
2 Goblin King

Spells 12
4 Krenko's Command
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Goblin Grenade

Land 20
2 Teetering peaks
2 Cavern of Souls
16 Mountain

Sideboard 15
1 Shattering Spree
2 Smash to Smithereens
2 Dismember
2 Electrickery
4 Pillar of Flame
2 Blood Moon
2 Relic of Progenitus
[/deck]

After playing the deck against hamfactorial, I ran the deck back through the 2-mans for awhile. I lost track of the games, but I did win them all. Actually, the only one I can really remember beating was Pod.

Anyways, after that, I took it through an 8-Man, where I beat Jund and then lost to 'Murica Control in a tight Game 3. This guy played a full set of Lightning Helix and Warleader's Helix and I saw ALL of them.

Here's a picture of me beating up on a tokens deck:

War marshal is not the fastest card in the world , but he triggers denizen three times and having 2 bodies is very good against heavy removal decks. Sometimes the extra token is just what you need to be able to cast a grenade for the win.
That part is so crucial too. But he triggers twice when you play the Marshal and then another time during the upkeep if you don't pay the echo cost. I mean, it IS possible to trigger 3 times in a turn if you Grenade the Marshal and then swing.

RE: Rabblemaster

He competes in the 3 spot with Chieftain. If you want to spread out on 3 drops, he may not be a bad addition since he's almost like an army in a can.

Personally, I think with the "spread out and get 'em" strategy, the list of 3-Drops are: (1) Chieftain, (2) Goblin King, and then (3) Rabblemaster.

Making guys and then buffing them immediately or the next turn is how you're going to push a bunch of damage out fast.

I'm also wondering if I could even start utilizing Brimstone Volley in some these builds....

Also, about the Twin matchup, you want to be pressuring them with as many guys as possible while leaning on either Dismember or Combust. Preferable Combust since it's uncounterable and unable to be redirected.

Dude....Mogg War Marshal.

Take it from me, you want this guy.

"Too slow" is ridiculous. War Marshall is how you're going to repopulate your board after some sweepers, like Pyroclasm or Anger of the Gods. He's what you want to draw after you've landed a Chieftain or when your opponent wants to -2 a Lilliana. Hell, he's even a great Turn 2 play and then you can follow up with a Bushwhacker.

The main objective with Goblins is to spread out and turn sideways. You can achieve this better by playing a single spell that nets you multiple goblins.
