Maybe I'm just having rotten luck, but I feel like the deck doesn't have a leg to stand on vs Control.

Did not help that I got stuck on 3 lands.

I decided to run it. R1 got steam rolled by RDW. Is that generally a bad matchup? I kind of feel like he just had sick rips.

What have you guts been doing vs UB / Sultai control? I've been eating shit.

Problem is, there's a growing number of decks that just don't care about Stormbreath Dragon.

Ash Cloud seems like a beating vs UB control too.

I actually don't find Abzan control bad?

mardu has a better Gx matchup and I would say it might be a little favor in the Rx mirror/

I really like Stark's list because it feels a lot like last season's burn. You can basically ignore your opponent in certain matches and just go to like 30 life and race them. It feels good.

Outpost is also at its best in this deck with the lower curve. There are a lot of times where outpost siege - Dragons reads "you can't lose and your opponent can't win".

Played Stark's list tonight; it's so fucking hot.

Against hornet queen and Genesis hydra HWG seems good.

Vs Abzan, I board -4 lightning strike, -4 Seeker, +2 Sarkan, +4 Hushwing, +2 Glare. Works well.

Meh. Point is, SFGM might be worth running if mirror is popular.

Lost in the top 4 of game day to the mirror. Soulfire Grandmaster is pretty good in the mirror when your opponent draws zero removal apparently. It was a miracle to make it as deeps as I did with the draws I've been having to be fair.

I did take down FNM undefeated with tge deck on Friday though.

Lost the win and in for the top 8 of the modern PPTQ yesterday to a topdeck / bystander telling my opponent how to beat me when he was about to scoop. My opponent was a friend and bystander was eliminated already , so there was really no point in calling the judge. Just cast Rain of Salt for free.

Best way to get over tilt is to come to the realization that you're not as good as you think are, and that magic is a game of variance with a really high skill ceiling in mechanical play and deck building. There is always room for improvement and getting mad isn't going to get you anywhere.

That's easier said than done though, it's easy to blame top decks and mana screw.

I like to think I have the integrity to acknowlege when it's me vs when it's variance. When my opponent has 4 outs in his deck and rips one, I acknowledge that he got lucky but it doesn't help. When I mull to 4, I know it's bad luck, but it doesn't help. When someone I basically taught to play magic like a year ago beats me in the mirror because I draw 8 of 19 lands in spite of deck thinning and he draws 2 of his 3 dragons claws and I draw 0/4 Destructive Revelry and 0/3 Kor Firewalker, I know that's a bad beat. I just don't know how to avoid getting salty. He's overtaken me for lead of the league to boot.

I scrubbed out in modern and lost my lead in the league mulls to 4/ floods (on 19 lands) / bullshit topdecks from opponents all day. I was tilting hard. Conceded to my friend in the last round because the difference between last and second last isn't worth having to play against Egg-sendancy.

I'm also on the 2 brimaz / 2 Phoenix in the flex slots plan. Working well so far.

I'm with Val. Valorous Stance is Chains 5+6, meaning you don't need to play a 1/2 for 3 that works against hushwing.

I won a standard tournament with the 75 I posted above this weekend. Deck felt very, very solid. Played against UW heroic and Abzan Midrange all day. UW was good post sideboard and Abzan is good main board or post sideboard.

Agree 100%.

Or if meta is less aggro, more control.

If Ascendancy dies off, I could see -2 Erase, +2 Outpost Siege.

Outpost Siege, Valorous Stance and Wild Slash appear to be what was picked up from FRF for this deck. I like OS a lot, but I'm not sure this is the deck for it. Seems much better in Mardu. Correct choice likely depends on meta.

I think I like Owen's list the best of the three.
