I personally love Stratskys UWR list with a creature heavy approach with 4 Seeker, 4 Mantis, 4 Gryff, 3 Phoenix , 2 Dragon.

0 Dig through time.

I'm kinda back on the Jeskai train too...I'm trying not to be arrogant here but I have lost maybe 2-3 matches in the past 6 weeks and it is making it really really hard to decide what to run at SCG Worcester. Would be much easier if something stood out. Had success with multiple Boros and UWR lists.

I have been prepping like a madman for the Open coming to my hometown and my next magic goal is to top8 one of these bad boys. I want it so fucking bad. Its gonna torment me till I do it. They only come around so often so I cant fuck this up.

Here is how I see it:

American - better vs Junk, better vs control, even in mirror, worse vs small aggro
Boros - Worse vs Junk, Worse vs control, favored in mirror and vs small aggro

They both have ups and downs but considering aggro is basically non-existant, the only advantage of Boros is the mirror where UWR is better vs Junk and UB Control.

Makes me lean UWR.

EDIT: UWR is also favored vs Green Devo as Charm is very very good here.

Reprisal didn't kill Courser, but we played reprisal over glare last season. Reprisal was 2 mana instead of 3, making it better at killing the big threats last season (poly k and demon). This season, there is no threat that is back breaking that doesn't contain white, which is why glare is better than pillar/reprisal right now. This format is slower, thus being a sorcery is not really an issue, considering we have the ability to cast two spell a turn from turn 3+.

To those not wanting to play Erase, you are crazy. You can't beat whip of erebos or bow of nylea. Not to mention it hits rams, coursers, chains, b-lights, nylea and other enchantments. It is at least a 2 of.
Reprisal was also better with YP because he was great with Instants at end of turn etc. With the prowess creatures it is best to cast now on your turn.

Polukranos and Arbor Colussus can be a pain in the ass.

Like I said, for this event I copied Brad's list spur of the moment, thats what he was running.

I've been doing tournaments like a madman but its all really just testing for SCG Worcester this weekend.

Though there is an arguement for Instant speed Pillar that hits Courser while Glare doesn't hit Courser.

You know, Pillar would be awesome. I should have been running that.

Against my friend in top8 I got my Chained/B-Light/Suspension field all destroyed by Utter End, Unravel the Aether and a Banishing light.

Felt really bad mid combat.

Yet another top8 again today. Store was running a GPT since it was a holiday.

Small event, 6 rounds n like 40-50 people.

Decided to give Brad's list a shot but dont think I sideboarded well with it with the whole control sideboard.

The maindeck was basically what I was running but Hordling Outburst over Arc Lightning which was really good!!

Ended up losing in top8 to my same friend I split States with on Saturday. We went 3 games and he had turn 3 Rhino each game and multiples the two games I lost.

Went 4-0 to double draw into top8.

Beat:
Jeskai Tempo
Junk Midrange
Junk Reanimator
Jeskai Tempo

Outburst was really good!!! I never did the whole transform sideboard thing though as I put it together last minute and didnt feel comfortable doing that.

He is a little tough but tapping out for him and attacking gives you a huge window to resolve a lot of burn and get your attacks in.

damnit this DP thing keeps messing me up...keep thinking you are reffering to me by my initials like a lot of people do lol

Suspension field was just cause 99% of banishing light targets are big green guys and courser and it hits both for one less mana.

Yep....what he said. Split the finals at states to get the mat cause I'm not going to NJ.

7 rounds, like 68 people?

Played the following decks
G/b devotion -- Win
Jeskai "Tempo"--- Win
Jeskia "Tempo"-- Win
Jeskai Control--- Win
Mardu midrange-- loss
RUG Monsters-- win
Draw into top8

Top8 G/r devotion
Top4 Rematch from swiss loss vs Mardu Midrange.
finals split.

Deck felt so much smoother than Jeskai.

Palm didnt do whole lot for me either to be honest. I did use it on a Stoke and that was pretty sweet.

Another pretty sweet play from the top4 vs Mardu

This is like turn 4

Opponent is at 12 life plays Rabble and passes.

I have 2 Swiftspears out and cast 2 Searing blood to swing for 12 exact...it was pretty amazing.

I am always only playing for my next tournament.

That happens to be the Mass SCG States.

I frequent the location it is at a lot and at the TCG States at the same location last weekend had the following metagame: 7 courser decks and 1 mono red one drop deck.

I think I am back to Jeskai...

My meta is just so heavy green and Mantis Rider is 100x better than Swiftspear in that matchup.

So doing damage to your opponent instead of yourself doesnt put you any closer to winning??

You act like its just a fog effect. It can do a lot of damage for 2 mana.

The chance of getting both of the card you run 2 of in your opening hand is pretty slim.. I've gone rounds and rounds without ever seeing 2-of's in my deck once let alone both in the same opening hand.

I would argue its better when you are behind than ahead. If you are ahead your opponent might not be playing aggresive and attacking or you may be controlling the board and killing all their guys. It can pull you right back into games via a 10+ life swing.

Has been ok here and there with your Prowess guys if you are blocking. You can cast before damage and pump.

Seeker is strong, no doubt, but I would never presume to call that card as good as YP$. Not in a million years
Its not even close to as good in a vacuum. YP$ sees play in older formats where seeker never will.

However, it does have a lot going for it in a meta dominated by big green creatures, courser and caryatid.

Seeker is better vs Courser/Caryatid. Right now, in the current standard format, that is the most important thing.

It also is a bit better in a race, though YP$ is also very good there. Many of my recent matchups have felt racy.

Also Seeker gives the deck a true 2-drop where YP$ was usually cast on turn 3 or 4.

Man, Chained to the Rocks is fuckin awesome now with little enchantment removal and most other removal costing around 3-4.

Also, Searing Blood is awesome with all these dorks running around.

Seeker is the Way is an amazing two drop. Certainly on par with YP$
