Been mostly posting in the deck threads but figured I'd ask in here if anyoine is going to the SCG Invitational in Jersey and wants to work on decks together for it?

I've been dismissing Mardu even though they are my fav colors because the lists are too midrangey for my style and I suck playing them.
This one feels JUST aggresive enough..
How has control Mardu tested? I feel like you wouldnt have the tools to fight the other control decks because you have no early pressure, they counter your stuff, then Dig and you lose...
I love how this deck can get under the control decks with tokens and back it up with powerful burn and removal and card advantage.

Wow that Mardu Tokens list looks pretty sweet actually.
Tokens are great vs the Mono Red decks full of X-1's and efficient burn and pretty good vs Control with all their spot removal and sacrifice effects - especially Raise the Alarm as an instant.
Crackling Doom is obv insane right now.
I might seriously play this tomororw at the RPTQ...long night of testing ahead.

Had to pop in and say Dos Rakis was the funnest deck I've yet to say(with Boros Burn a close second).
Man, the thread was so booming then too, we would metagame every week. I think I won 65% of all the FNM's we had that season.
I pissed everyone the fuck off since they were running Tier 1 decks and would get smashed by Dos Rakis every week.
I'll never forget you Falkenwrath Aristocrat.

Was just going to post that article.
""I basically just cut the Dragon Whisperers and the Roasts, added some different creatures, and moved black to the main deck," said Lévy. The new additions in the creature department included two morphs, Ire Shaman and Jeering Instigator, which had been good for a few surprises in the feature match area already, when opponents expected one but suddenly faced the other.
The big game changer, however, was the inclusion of the full four-of of Murderous Cut which Lévy called the most important card in the deck. "I like Murderous Cut. That was what the deck was missing at the PT," he said. "I love the creatures, the Phoenixes and Thunderbreak Regents. They were good and still are. But in a deck like this you need a good removal spell to back that up. I had trouble with so many different creatures, and now Murderous Cut really deals with all of them."

Eh I tested Atarka red all last week and ran it at States and I just hate the deck. Granted I was eliminated(0-2) without keeping a single 7 card hand but all week the deck didnt feel that great but I had limited options so I played it anyways.
Deck is good in theory and obv ran well at the PT but its just not for me....
Got my Regional PTQ coming up on the 25th....torn between Jeskai/Mardu/RB Dragons and Raph Levy's Big Red.
I really like how the deck is so evenly split across the curve...
6 1-drops

Loved this deck that went 7-3 in Standard at the Pro Tour and thought you guys would like it over here too. Its a sledgehammer type deck.
[deck]Planeswalker (2)
2 Chandra, Pyromaster
Creature (10)
4 Thunderbreak Regent
4 Stormbreath Dragon
2 Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury
Sorcery (8)
3 Read the Bones
4 Thoughtseize
1 Crux of Fate
Instant (15)
4 Hero's Downfall
3 Draconic Roar
3 Bile Blight
3 Foul-Tongue Invocation
2 Kolaghan's Command
Land (16)
4 Temple of Malice
4 Bloodstained Mire
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
2 Haven of the Spirit Dragon
4 Bloodfell Caves
1 Radiant Fountain
Basic Land (9)
5 Mountain
4 Swamp
60 Cards
Sideboard (15)
1 Kolaghan's Command
1 Crux of Fate
3 Anger of the Gods
3 Duress
1 Foul-Tongue Invocation
1 Virulent Plague
1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
4 Goblin Rabblemaster[/deck]
It feels like it has game against Aggro, Midrange and Control.
Good threats, but nothing that can't be Downfall'd so a little weak there.
Great disruption and amazing removal. Cant complain here.
Decent card advantage engine in Read the Bones and Chandra. No major spell to win the game though.
I love the Rabble out of the board vs control. Thoughtseize into Rabble seems amazing.

What tweaks did you make?Couldn't build a version of jeskai that could beat GR variants consistently. Switched to a tweaked version of Hooglands UR list, and it feels great! 3-1 vs abzan control, 5-1 vs GR variants, 2-0 vs UB, and 1-1 vs esper.
I lost in top8 at a PPTQ last weekend with Hooglands UR Dragons but wasnt sure if it was that well positioned vs the CVM Monsters list, which I expect to be popular at States.
The few matches I've played didnt feel very good without Scorn in my draw. Our burn lines up bad vs Caryatid and Courser.

Burn just aint the same without you bro...My approach to building decks.
1. Check whether Young Pyromancer is format legal.
2. If not, move formats until it is.
3. Begin the herculean task of coupling YP with instants and Sorceries. While the synergy is small, I suspect that I may be onto something.

Cause it sounds like he has no interest in working on Burn at the moment... I love the thought of a new Zem Burn deck, but it might not ever happen. Hence why I am cautious in how excited I am.why would you be "cautiously excited"?We know you hate SCG Open, but so far its one of the only events we have to go off of. Its better than nothing till the Pro Tour.Dechs you're making assumptions, not me. If rathe never interact with you, it's just such a waste of time.
@ dpaine: all that matters is winning = play whatever, just be sure it wins.
But also, don't use SCG results as indicators of anything, it makes us all dumber.
I appreciate what you did for the deck last season. Just figured I owe it to you to let you know that Burn is back for this season- whether its a more Boros control shell, Boros burn or Jeskai Burn. I love your work and am cautiously excited to see what you could do with this archetype for this season.
We lost two 4-damage spells but we gained one so now we have two 4-damage spells, just like it was before Stoke was printed and burn was still good.
Mana could be better but we played guildgates last season in burn at one point in time and it was fine and the Tri-Lands are obviously better than guildgates. I was thinking of cutting 2 scrylands possibly to go to 3 tri-lands to make the mana better. If your mana is right, this deck is very hard to beat.
Sounded really weird when I typed it....maybe bad choice of words.

I 7-0-1'd my first event of new standard; we split top 4 and the three other decks we're burn so you may be right. I just find the mana base so unappealing.
It could be worse but why don't you try to fix it?
Maybe it needs more tri-lands.
I have not found the mana to be that terrible when you have 8 scry lands and 4 magma jet to help smooth things.
You only need blue for 2 cards.
The deck is dope, it really is. Jeskai Charm is amazing, all modes are very strong. Mantis Rider as well just so good against green.
Green is probably my least fav color so you won't see my playing Caryatid and Courser.

Had to chime in here and say that Jeskai Bun is the fuckin real deal.
Went 5-0 at FNM then 5-0-2 at States to split top4.
Well positioned right now and honestly not even sure what bad matchups are besides multiple Seige Rhino.
If you are looking for a deck still and liked Boros Burn at all last season, I HIGHLY recommend it.

You think its that different than the old boros burn?Word. Not feeling it at all. That deck seriously looks like a nightmare
Hopping off the tempo train, the deck is just not for me. Gonna wait for Pro Tour to find a deck I enjoy
I played it at Wednesday Night Magic and it felt pretty similar to me.
You also can play Dig Through Time in it...

American Burn....
I agree, I'd def rather run Magma Jet over Titan Stength.
The other deck(Kevin Jones) is running Magma Jet but also running 2 Steam Augury and 2 Dig Through Time which I don't really like either.
I would rather have 4 Searing Blood over those I think.
The creature base is a little tricky. Pencil in 4 Mantis Rider and Rabblemaster.
From there, the last creature spot is up for grabs- I have seen Seeker of the Way, Stormbreath, Sarkhan, Swiftspear, Ashcloud Pheonix.

Been a long time since I ventured out of the Boros Burn forum but here I am!
Just wanted to chime in and say I really don't think a red 2-drop is viable in the B/r lists.
Consistency is always the issue with 2-3 color aggro decks and getting your splash color turn 2 is not going to happen consistently.
I think keeping as many of the early drops in the primary color and splashing for cards you either A) don't need on curve always Ie: Lightning Strike or B) are 3-drops or higher ie: Rabblemaster.
Additionally- I found Mardu Skullhunter to be quite good in the 2drop spot. He is almost a 2-for-1 really. He instantly trades with a card when he comes into play and if he does anymore damage or trades with a creature , you got some really nice value out of him.
