I think that the Sword of Meek/Thopter Combo is a bit too slow to do a huge difference in our matchup.
It's good at providing some life and blockers against slower midrange decks.

It also gives us the occasion to play Searing Blaze without much problem.

Burn is already a bad matchup for Scapeshift so I don't see why you want to put more cards against them.
And for Bloom that would just slow them a little bit to their plan B with Pact.

I do. They do not always dump their hand on turn 1. And it's usually game over for them.

I even keep it when I'm on the draw, but I'm not 100% sure about this.

To add some of our thinking, if your opponent mull to 6 it's bolt the dork. If he takes some time to think about his hand and grumble a bit about it, these are some clues that bolt the dork would be very punishing.

I'll try to make a matrix between the sum of information you can get and what decision you would take..

Yes, but I've been experiencing this kind of play :
T1 forest, hierarch
T1, moutain, bolt the hierarch

Then they don't have any good follow-up because no 2nd land or color fixing problem and just loose the game on the spot. Maybe it's not very valuable as they are bad players making bad decision of keeping a hand like this.

But against for example an Abzan deck, I did the same and he just curved his next lands to win the game. I thought that slowing him of one turn and avoiding a T2 Smiter wherewhile I could play 2 drop 1 on T2 would be valuable.

Edit : the point is how much risk am I taking to bolt the dork, for how much winrate ?

Hi guys, I've got an interesting discussion with my group of players.

Here is the situation, you're on the draw against an unknown opponent. He plays a T1 Hierarch with a land. You draw and you have Guide and Bolt available in hand. No other obvious play like a T2 Searing blaze.
Do you bolt the Hierarch or do you go with Hierarch ?

I know that it could be different depending on what type of deck your opponent is playing and what land he played, try to answer the question with every possibility.

I for example would bolt the dork whatever deck he's playing. My friends would only do it on Pendelhaven or Breeding Pool (opponent on Infect), but not on Temple Garden.

Ending your turn 3 doing nothing and give your opponent a fresh hand ?

Could be good against fair decks and might screw combo trying to assemble their pieces. I'm not sold on it.

It also stretching our mana base to a fourth color as we all recognize that only Naya Burn is viable right now.

Thanks again Whole, I just leeched your deck with few changes.

[deck]RW Burn[/deck]

This is what I'm playing currently in my small meta Saturday tournaments. (10players)

I'm missing 4 Fetches because I don't want to invest when they just could reprinted in a really near future.

I really appreciate the fact that Green mana is not needed to play maindeck spells and you do not have to take 6 damages to fetch both colors to play all your spell against unknown decks.
Then when you side, you know you'll want exactly and this works for the specific matchups you're siding in WW or G requirements.

I'm at the point where I can outplay any opponent in my meta, even tough match-ups like Merfolk. Would need to enlist for some bigger events and see what I'd change to the deck.

There is also this fringe "Rack" deck which I keep losing against because I never see Revelry from my side and once he started his engine I can't do anything... Do you have any advice against this ?

I have a question about siding versus UWR (which is still popular in my local meta), do you guys think it's good to keep Searing Blaze after G1 to target Snap/Spellskite ? Or it is too few creatures to be reliable ?

Let me know how it goes!
A midly good 2-2. It was just about getting back into modern and I couldn't find some cards to complete the deck.

First time playing Kor Firewalker, well that's completely stupid in the mirror.

Whole, I have a small Modern tourney on Saturday. I'll give your build a try and follow your sideboard plan, seems really good.

Do you think it relies on using his capcity ? If not, Gurmag Angler isnt it better in the same spot ?
