Deck doesn't really change. Good matchups are good.

I was of the similar mind, but they run bolt and chain lightning..... Lavamancer sticking against Delver will pretty much never happen. Vs elves, it is simply too slow. I firmly believe elves is one of the worst matchups.

I ran basically the same list in the invitational, grim lavamancer was un impressive. (eidolon wasnt out yet, so those were flame rifts at the time)

Seems legit. I remember from my experience at the Invitational/Open not liking Sulfuric Vortex much... I feel its only well placed vs Stoneforge Mystic decks and Miracles. And even then, with so many searing effects, not sure how much of a problem stoneforge is (smash is just amazing).

The thought of a turn 1 swift spear, exile simian spirit guide, cast lava spike for 5 total dmg excites me. Might try a little brewski for Atlanta Open.

I don't quite understand how swiftspear could be better than lavamancer when delvers/stoenforge mystics are some of the most popular creatures in the room

BL and Val, if you had to slap a list together for the Atlanta Open...what would you play? is it time to put flame rifts back in the main for the sake of trying to win the race matches vs Delver?

Soooo, why didn't Burn put up ANY numbers at the GP? Is it possible we need to look at changing the build?

As someone who played against SneakNShow a lot at the Invi, Ensnaring Birdge was good. But if you don't have a redblast for their Echoing Truth, you lose. I like Ashen Rider in that it literally kills whatever they play.

Never run less than 4 fireblasts.

Going into an open, I don't think you have to worry about leyline.

I think if you entering an open enviroment, you will face MUCH less Leyline than you will burn mirrors/delver (especially early)

Show and Tell. I think it might just be practice to run 3-4 of these at the Invitational(lot's of discard), not sure how many they would run in an Open environment.

i was able to beat leyline 4 times at the invitational. Thanks to flame rift, with most lists cutting flame rift, you leave yourself weaker to leyline.

What matchup would you consider "grindy"? The only one I can think of is UWR delver.

Idk how these decks can beat a Leyline of Sanctity without flamerift

Chalice decks are much more likely to say X=1, which is why I prefer smash. If your casting Spree for 2, why not get 3 dmg out of it.

Smash is the nuts. Great against UWR Dever, Death and Taxes and MUD/affiniy w.e its called.

Price better than Flame Rift? Not sure in G1 if thats the case, I find my opponents are more likely to play around Price post board.

RUG is the harder of the delver matchups imo. UWR being the easiest.

I liek the relics vs RUG Delver... From my experience, once Gofy got past bolt range (they ALWAYS have daze) it was basically GG.

Flame Rift for Eidolon. I can dig it. I am also very surprised to see how many elves he had to of battled through, that was my biggest problem in grinding for the Invitational. Looks like Eidolon remedies that.

Sulfuric Vortex does nothing against Sneak and Show. Sure it might stop their Griselbrand from gaining life in G1, but any competent player would always play Emerkrul first vs burn (assuming they had the choice).

You are going to cut flame rifts, and then face all combo.

Cutting flame rift is stupid.

Yeah, its bad in race matchups, which is why you side it out. You lose to craterhoof vs elves, your only chance vs elves is to race, rift is the best card for that(on the play).

Yeah its a shitty matchup, same with sneak and show. You either win or you lose and not much SBing will help. Smash is wayyy better vs D&T than searing blaze is.

Pre or Post board is not as relevant as on the play/on the draw vs elves.

I think they are both too slow vs elves either way.

Lavamancer is is not good vs elves or RUG/BUG delver.

So does the new JOU red 2 drop.

YP$ seems very good vs any GOYF deck.
