I'm switching from pyroskies to big boros for the LGS win a box tournament tomorrow. I'll miss YP$, but I think Big Boros is better positioned for the local meta (R/x devotion, G/x devotion, GW). One tweak I'm considering is adding a 3rd Chandra either main or SB. With 25 lands I should be able to c...

You still have the problem of a 4pt life swing every turn, but does stop him from attacking if he's blinked, so that's something. I've noticed flash decks are starting to become more popular on MODO, so added bonus that it helps screw those guys up as well. Could be relevant for some race matchups a...

on a related note, "Fated Conflagration" is going to be pretty sweet tech for dealing with Ghost Daddy once Born of the Gods starts (1RRR instant that deals 5 creature damage and scrys 2. Blows up Elspeth and Jace too)

Bloody hell, it's like a greatest hits of cards I don't like playing against! Ghost Daddy, whip, supreme verdict, imposing sovereign, desecration demon, detention sphere.

I've not seen anyone at my LSG play it, sods law I run in to it on Sunday though

MDU- I'm playing in a paper tournament on Sunday. I was planning on playing the pyroskies deck, as I've had pretty solid results with it on MODO (averaging about 66% win rate). I saw you're playing Big Boros now. Is that deck performing better for you? I'm in two minds now whether to play PyroSkies ...

How is Xathrid Necromancer useless to the sweeper? His effect still triggers on death.
it's -2/-2 until end of turn, so don't all the tokens die too, or is it only creatures on the battlefield when it resolves that are affected?

I really like that strategy, as means half their deck are bricks post board. That was one of my main successful strategies with Z's original Pyrowhite list: game 1 mow them down with creatures. They assume you are a mainly AiR creature deck. Game 2 side out all your weenie creatures for burn and rec...

Val- what's your sideboarding plan? Do you not find yourself a few answers short for master of waves in Mono-U?

(in the PyroWhite list 4 chained never feels like enough and I'd kill for a 5th or even 6th answer to MoW to draw in to)

So, aggro just took a huge hit and MBD is now way better against us. It does not look great. Unless they have a killer aggro card in the wings. Going bigger is looking very attractive now. Yeah I've been thinking the same thing, although another option could be to play Rakdos colours and run though...

Pharika's Cure is the single best black card in Standard for fighting fast aggro decks

I quite like the 1RRR instant burn 5 + scry 2. Deals with end of your turn worm token, Polukranos, BBoV and any planeswalker in the format. Advent of the Worm is such a beating at the moment, especially if turn 4 they flash it in and turn 5 slap a boon satyr or unflinching courage on it.

My problem with Ash is that I feel like she's better in the matchups where I already feel ahead (control, small aggro), but skyknight is better in some of the tighter matchups. I find the evasion can be critical against decks like G/x, R/w devotion, MBD, where you can end up board stalled against th...

Why Angelic Edict ? LB is many times better then Angelic Edict . So both of these cards are mainly to deal with master of waves. I'm playing in my LGS standard tonight. Yeah I can see the logic in that. I'm always keen to play the dragon against monowhite as it's such a beating for them, but game could be over by the time you curve out to that fifth land. Also find myself top-decking against aggro if I've 1-4-1'd my burn on their creatures, in which case the phoeni...

I would not ever side out Phoenix. He is the main win con when we are the control deck. Opponent resolves it, if I have a chained to the rocks then I can deal with it, otherwise I have to start losing creatures or suck up 6 damage a turn. Update on Angelic Edict: played about 6 matches with it in the sideboard now and I'm not 100% convinced. I'm yet to use it on an enchantment or a creature where the exile effect would be relevant. For the matchups you'd bring it in against, does it hit the reasons you lost those games and, if so, is it in enough time to still not lose to those reasons? Yeah I don't like his list much. 4 chained and 4 AOTG main is bad for control matchups and you could end up with some pretty bad draws against aggro too with all those tap lands. No Mutavaults either. I don't think it's necessarily bad that it's featured, I think the author was just trying to show b...

Boros charm is probably the best SB card against U/W, you can survive a Verdict, burn for 4, even the double strike may be relevant if you can pump a satyr or combo it with a pump spell
