Congrats Pedros!
I'd be interested to hear how you side boarded, and if you would tweak the decklist at all.

Proactive cards advance your game plan; they kill the opponent. Examples include: burn (but not terrors), threatens. They need to be good in most boardstates. Reactive cards counter your opponent's strategy only; they ONLY do something in a specific boardstate that you bring them in for. EG: artifa...

I did notice on the SCG open lists that the mono B lists were sans Whip. Honestly I'm not sure if my local paper guys are behind the curve or ahead of it in this instance. I'm seeing mono G rise, Esper hold steady running 2-3 BBoV and Aetherling, and mono B staying the course. Enchantment hate seems...

That's a good question. I haven't run the deck yet so don't really have a feel for what colors are most important to get online when. I'd say offhand maybe switch out 2 Mountain for the R/W scry, and one Swamp for the B/W scry. need to test and see if the dig/filter they provide outweigh the sacrifi...

Underworld Cerberus might go better in the Dragon slot - evasive-ish, not vunerable to Doom Blade or Ultimate Price, stops Whip and the Ooze abilities, takes out multiple Elspeth or MOW tokens... Your black-playing opponents will spend their non-conditional removal getting rid of Freaks, Jesters, a...

I like the idea of Slaughter Games vs Sphinx's Rev, but it seems like it could also be good against cards like: Blood Baron Aetherling Gary (monoB) MOW(monoU) Boon Satyr (monoG) Jace, Elspeth, Domri, etc <- basically whatever PW is costing you games in other MU The more I think about it, pretty much...

I do understand the love for heaps of 4x (esp. in decks which have 0 draw effects) but I'm comfortable with running 6x 1-drops since they're value is pretty much gone by T3 in most MUs If their value is greatest before T4, wouldn't you want to run the full 8 to maximize your chance of seeing them b...

I only play paper on one or two nights a week -FNM and a free Saturday tournie for store cred. The FNM is heavily mono black and Esper, while the Saturday thing is the same 15 players generally from FNM plus a bunch of aggro. When I run 25 land, Boros charm, Reckoner in the side on Friday, I do ok a...

2-1-1 last night. Man, I have troubles with Esper (my loss and draw). Not sure if it's just our local variants or if I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot seem to beat them. I likely would have won the match I ended up drawing, but just couldn't close fast enough. The other one, he just has all th...

Love it! Yeah, it's pretty much just loops and counting. Looking forward to your Monte Carlo insights! First thing I did was run your same numbers for comparison. Numbers started to converge towards yours with as few as 5,000 iterations. Time to start stalking the Python forums to find ways to make...

Yeah, that's way over my head as far as programming goes. Alas, I know what I want to do, but am not enough of a code sorcerer to do it. EDIT: Ha, HA! F U inferiority complex! I figured it out using Python scripting. Bad Python scripting I'm sure. And all hard-coded. But still, now I know how to do ...

It's easier for me to run Monte Carlo simulations instead of trying to make sure I'm getting the hypergeometic distribution right. How do you do that? Could you put together an application that would allow us to enter our own decklists, choose which variables to enter and summarize on (which and ho...
