Spellheart Chimaera only resolved once, and it ate a doom blade. No idea how it actually performs. I think it mostly eats doom blades, so that's about right. Flames of the Firebrand for weenies? And anger of course for necromancer/atheros decks but I am not sure it's practical to have both that and...

One Ram is just a little annoying.. I mean a 0/5 is only going to block YP or a token. but we have to either 2 for 1 it, chain it, or banish it. And it's only CMC2 so only chains tempo-favorable. Ignoring it means you have to go from ~7 burn spells to 10. So that's about 2 more turns assuming we don...

Titan's Strength is bad in the same way Chained to the Rocks is bad (because it's sometimes dead or can lead to a 2-for-1). Or young pyromancer with no shock/jet back up is bad. It's actually slightly less hassle to lava spike them off of a token or pheonix than it is to get a YP out with a backup. ...

My first test was with the Thaumaturge (and curse of the swine with X=infinity). I found that he was like a worse goblin electromancer except in rare instances. I have almost abandoned this list. Hour of Need is very amusing but not a real card. Turn // Burn is waaaay to slow in a deck that wants to...

If your only using Prophetic Flamespeaker vs creature decks, why is it better then Boros Reckoner or Mizzium Mortars in a format where the best midrange/aggro decks run Sylvan Caryatid, Boros Reckoner Courser of Kruphix, Frostburn weird, NVS basically anything which isn't weenies which is ALREADY a...

yes but those BW humans and AIR don't run anything with toughness higher than 3... Or if they did it would be some kind of big bomb that's pro white or pro sorcery speed anyway. What I was trying to say was NOT that BL is a bad card for burn (perhaps even Main deckable) but that it might not be good...

I think there will be an AIR heroic deck as well, if for no other reason it's actually faster than BW humans, and doesn't care about atheros. I honestly have no idea how those decks do against Control/MBD/MUD which still dominate the meta. Banishing light doesn't seem ideal against decks running all...

Wipeout has it correct. On the subject of who is the beatdown in Burn vs. MBD. It's interesting that my snap answer was that we were the beat down, but I counted threats and wrote the opposite. They are running 12 threats (+4 gary) and we are running 8. Of course we are controlling their clock by m...

On the hilarious flip side, I ran into a Bx deck that just happened to be running Illness in the ranks in his board, and played one turn 1. I still came within a topdecked burn spell of winning game 2.

We are the often* the control deck. They have to play threats or we just burn their face instead. Also assemble the legion is the grindiesty control finisher ever. We must bring in 1x chains 2x assemble and probably any chandras we have in the board. We would like skullcrack against Gary - because w...

I made this kind of for fun... but it actually wins in testing. I posted it in the "Competative: Control" forum (under izzet control, but it's neither competitive or really control nor does any one read that thread). [deck] Value Generators 4 Battlefield Thaumaturge 4 Young Pyromancer Toke...

1-2 mutavaults isn't awful. I won't go back to 0. I forgot about electrickery. That is exactly what my Izzet-Pyro build needs. Against what decks? Even post rotation, that strikes me as a narrow card. There are a few aggro decks running 12-16 1-drops, plus several 1T 2 drops. It is very hard to 1-f...

I admit to not rolling over control like some people on this thread. It really comes down to skilled play and dodging counters. Being patient seems to be the key. There is some point, maybe around 7 life, where they get desperate and you should always win (assuming you crack the rev) by just running...

I was waiting to get to overload mana when opponent landed a Sire of Insanity! I was totally surprised to run into what I presume was a singleton of this card. I responded by casting Shock and Magma Jet and having to ditch the mortars. Why didn't you just kill the Sire with your shock+jet? Obviousl...

Any thoughts on this post JOU spoilers? It seems like either Ur-devo (+/- pyromancer?) or Ru-counterburn seem OK, but not sure they are tier 2. Full control would probably splash white.
