He was playing GR midrange/ramp, i stalled the game by blocking his monstrous arbor colossus with phoenix and recurring it with Thunder Thighs' +1 every turn, eventually getting out young P money (2 actually) and blocking with his tokens while burning his topdecked voyaging satyrs, and FINALLY getting the mana to overload mortars and this is what happens.

I kept playing against a bunch of Pack Rats and Underworld Connections in the 2-mans and wondering what they were trying to do. Either they weren't being piloted correctly or they were bricking on top decks, because I had no trouble with them.
I ran into (and through) a deck like that in a 2 man the other day too. I was so confused, it was pretty much a free win. The poor guy played a lifebane zombie (in game 2 mind you) and saw my hand full of burn and then i topdeck chandra and +1'd to kill the zombie, then he kept playing more lifebanes and just died.

I'd also consider putting electrickery in my paper SB if this master of waves deck gets popular at my LGS. Not sure about online yet, haven't been on in a few days

I don't miss Prime Time. When I came back to Magic Wolf Run Ramp was all over my local meta. Delver was never big here unlike everywhere else. I do miss Koth and Shrine of Burning Rage.
I miss them and I wasn't even playing then

Was playtesting pyrored, played against a guy that durdled on four lands (3 islands and one watery grave), plays nothing but doom blade and devour flesh then he runs out of cards and i win. Game 2 he plays a Mirko Vosk (WTF) and next turn he plays consuming abberation, attacks me with Mirko Vosk and mills me until his consuming abberation a 16/16 lmao. Game three i finally see some white from him but I beat him down and win lol.

I need to stop playing in the tourney practice room...

Damn I havent' been able to get the shit on MTGO to play, so I'll just settle for playing local until official release online.

Also, things went south relationship wise for me. I've been real busy and haven't been able to make time for her besides texting, and she couldn't accept that. The lady and I talked and we decided there was no way to salvage what we had left, so we should just end it before anyone said anything they'd regret. I blame myself for starting this situation (for those that tuned in before) but she sure as hell didn't help fix it.

I felt shitty about it, blamed myself, then drank some whiskey was feeling fine again. Still feeling fine actually, even after it wore off. I'm sure it'll hit me later though. There's no way an almost 2 year relationship ending wouldn't effect me.

Oh I missed it earlier, happy birthday lp.

I wish I could find some standard play. I've just been drafting my backside off. That being said the number of packs I've pulled that way is pretty good. Last 2 drafts have been 3-0 and 3-1, and the environment is great, but I really want to play my devotion red deck. I can't even play red in draft because apparently I'm just going to keep passing me bonkers blue and white stuff. There is no reason that I should be getting divine verdict 10th pick, or battlewise hoplite 9th, even last pack.
I love/hate drafting like that.

I was confused/elated when I got a 6th pick doomblade one time in M14 draft.

Used Pyrored to go 4-0 at FNM for the first time (in constructed). Feels good, since I've been doing pretty shitty in constructed ever since GTC came out last season.

Goes to show it's better to play archetypes you know and are comfortable with rather than try to force things. I tried playing Rg aggro last season for awhile and while the deck was undeniably successful (especially online) BTE chains just weren't my thing.

I need red decks with that can grind out longer games while still putting on pressure, none of this all in crap

The lady and I have worked things out; we talked and she apologized for what happened, she talked to the guy and told him she's staying with me. I haven't talked to the guy yet but I probably won't be able to stay friends with him, at least no to the extent we were before.

I'm going to be a bit harsher, but don't take it too hard.

Stop thinking, man up, and take your girl to do something fun. I'd recommend something physical like frisby golf, if it's warm enough, or ice skating, if it's cold enough. Don't do something passive like watching a movie. I'd keep it light, fun, and at the end of the day give your girl some wild screaming orgasms.

I wouldn't talk about the relationship, because talking about the relationship is the fastest way to fuck up the relationship. Lead. Show her the fun that being in a relationship with you entails.
Part of the problem is we're both busy as fuck and don't have time to do that at the moment

Man, that really sucks. Maybe
When I get stressed I tend to ball it up inside and not talk or text or anything (plus i hate texting in general. it's a necessary evil though nowadays), and the fact that we don't get to hang out much for stress relief made the problem that much worse.
this is part of the issue? If she feels like she can talk to him more easily than she can talk to you, it sounds like you need to communicate more. Giving a woman support and a friendly ear, as well as giving her the opportunity to do the same for you, is important to a healthy relationship. As stressful as school can be, it
is important that ya'll set aside time for your relationship so that you can establish that kind of rapport that you've lost. That being said, it is great that you trust her not to have been unfaithful; most people would assume the worst, and good on you for not doing so. I don't know what to tell you about the other guy; hopefully you can tell her you'll communicate better, and she can let him down easy. Confronting him isn't a terrible option either, but make sure you aren't speaking for your girl- she should vocalize her own feelings.
It's the heart of the issue, i think.

I'm a great listener, I just tend to think too much and talk too little at times. She reads that as apathy when in reality i just don't know what to say with a million thoughts floating around in my head. Most of the time when we're together IRL we communicate just fine, which is why i thought things were going well. It was kind of a vicious cycle. I was stressed so I didn't talk, we didn't hang out as much
so i got more stressed etc...

I'm not gonna confront my friend unless he makes a move/tries to break us up. I can't blame the guy for having feelings.

Looks like i might be the next redbro in line to have lady troubles...
Uh-oh. What's up?
This semester has been really stressful on our relationship. We're both really busy so we don't get much RL hangout time. When I get stressed I tend to ball it up inside and not talk or text or anything (plus i hate texting in general. it's a necessary evil though nowadays), and the fact that we don't get to hang out much for stress relief made the problem that much worse. She tells me it seems I'm getting distant and I tell her I'm just really stressed. She starts texting and hanging out more
with a mutual male friend that's having relationship trouble of his own (he's imminently ending his 7 year relationship with a chick he's now discovering is crazy) to fill the void. They became good friends, and since I know the guy fairly well I don't have a problem with it.

Now a few weeks later, she tells me when she was hanging out with him the other night he told her he has feelings for her and now she's really confused. She tells me she still loves me but she has so much in common with this guy and it's so much easier to talk to him recently. Both of these people's families were torn apart by infidelity, so I believe her when she says she hasn't been unfaithful (and if i had any reason to believe she was I'd have ended already).

I just feel so betrayed. My friend doesn't have many other friends, and my girlfriend is one of his best friends. I didn't want to deny him her support, but at the same time it seems like she abandoned and replaced me. I know this is nothing compared to what
some of you guys have gone through but this is my first serious relationship and it's lasted almost 2 years.

I simultaneously blame myself and blame her. It just feels shitty.

No love for Fanatic of Mogis?
Yet to get a chance to test with it; and I think Chandra is really good in all matchups; Fanatic not so much. Thoughts?
So far in my (limited, admittedly) testing I have fanatic in MB for when I'm sligh (he does a decent hellrider impression; he's way shittier alone though) and bring in Chandra postboard when I get more sledgehammery. Though the CA generated by Chandra makes Fanatic win for you on the spot a lot of the time. He might be win more in that situation though since you could probably just burn them out with your spells.

I should get some more rigorous testing in Thursday

I've also tried to make a Legion's Initiative deck work but haven't been able to get it quite yet. The enchantment just interacts so well with fanatic of mogis, viashino firstblade, minotaur skullcleaver, and foundry street denizen. It seems like it could have so many good interactions.

The boros list seems to do well vs. aggro, and the mono red list plays pretty similar to how mono red played pre GTC last season. Fanatic of Mogis seems pretty insane so far.

Haven't really prepared for control at all, since all the builds people are playing now are awful and have terrible mana lol

Reposting this:
[deck]Creatures: 28
4 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Fanatic of Mogis
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Firefist Striker
4 Gore-House Chainwalker
Spells: 10
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
2 Hammer of Purphoros
Lands: 22
2 Mutavault
20 Mountain

SB: 4 Chandra, Pyromaster
SB: 2 Mutavault
SB: 4 Mizzium Mortars
SB: 3 Flames of the Firebrand
SB: 2 Wild Guess[/deck]

First draft of what I'm testing. Game 1 is aggro (but not all in), game 2 you can board into midrange or just switch around the burn or just add chandra.

for transformational SB right now it's:
Out:
-8 1 drops
-4 BTE
-3 GHC
In:
Everything

Here's my Boros midrange first draft too:

[deck]
Creatures: 16
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Frostburn Weird
4 Fanatic of Mogis
Spells: 21
4 Chandra, Pyromaster
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
1 Hammer of Purphoros
4 Boros Charm
4 Shock
nLands: 23
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Temple of Triumph
11 Mountain
4 Plains
SB: 4 Chained to the Rocks
SB: 4 Wear // Tear
SB: 2 Warleader's Helix
SB: 3 Boros Reckoner
SB: 2 Anger of the Gods
[/deck]

Most questionable card in the Boros list is probably shock. Fanatic of Mogis closes out games fuckin' QUICK, especially with the hammer.

tl;dr - Magic continues to work the way it always has.

My buddy is trying to argue that being in 3 color has no disadvantage over monocolor because the format is a turn slower. I know he's smarter than this, so I really don't understand why the conversation is happening.
Tell him you agree having half your manabase ETB tapped is in no way a disadvantage so you can get freewins at FNM
