I think it's fine. The rationale they gave for doing it seems off, but it was never fun to have a commander tucked. The better the effect is, the worse it hurts. And honestly, general-reliant strategies are still hindered by the re-casting tax.So EDH removed the ability to tuck. Aint that some goofy shit.
Anyone who plays edh have some opinions?
I don't like it personally, but I'll just have to live with it like every other change they hammer in.

But then, I realized that the only difference between us is that, tomorrow, I'd have to go to my job at Subway while they'd be traveling to another glamorous 5k to grind Planeswalker pointsSo there I was at the 3-0 table at some chicago 5k when for round 4 sitting diagonally from me was WORLD CLASS PLAYER ADRIAN SULLIVAN. He played really intensely and all of his permanents were upside down. Later, I saw WORLD CLASS PLAYER ADRIAN SULLIVAN talking with WORLD CLASS PLAYER JEFF HOOGLAND very casual like. It made me felt like I had made it.

That's two in two posts.@Strider: He usually plays janky ass BW warriors.
@Khaos: Lots of high profile players on the west coast.
There where also something like 1/3d of the worlds Platinum pros at the WMCQ in Oakland last fall. They all scrubed out playing UW control except Josh Utter-Layton. He top cashed playing RW burn.

My thoughts exactly. Seriously. Z has taught me more about magic than anyone else. I never had any result-based expectations of him.For what it's worth, I always respected everything you had to say about magic theory.
I think you've got a great knack for this game.
I don't really care whether you won or lost a lot - I'd still listen to your advice. This game is pretty luck-heavy, and just because you lose sometimes does not mean you're not good at the game.
Even after this incident I will still read whatever you have to say about magic and take your advice seriously.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, you don't have to prove anything to anyone because we could all see that you knew your shit. You don't need to put up winnings so that people would listen to you - people were listening anyway.
Anyway, cheer up! Go wrestle some people and win some court cases.

Go back to playing red cards. They're fun.Not really no. I did speak to some friends about it and they encouraged me to skip a few events and catch up on sleep. My life for six to eight months was full time work (45-55 hours) then play mtg for 4-5 hours a weeknight plus all weekend; I wanted to be the best and I made so many sacrifices along the way.
The game hasn't been enjoyable for a very, very long time. Hopefully when I come back and I can enjoy it a bit.

True, but it didn't entirely stop all other random bullshit decks from existing, and you might still face something like green devotion if you were trying to capitalize on the dominance of mono black by playing red aggro.I mean, mono black was no caw blade. But it was the best deck and you had to prepare for it.

People usually just play what they want. It's hard to predict a general meta for a specific event, and not possible to correctly guess exactly which decks you'll play against. Unless there's a clear cut best deck (and there hasn't been one for my entire competitive lifetime), metagaming usually fails. Play the best deck, play what you know best, whatever.

I'm sorry, but this is so wrong.Or your could realize that it's not at all due to variance. Your losses are precisely that: yours. They are nothing but a result of your failure to make the best choices. Accept each loss as the lesson it's supposed to be and move on.Taking a break after a rage inducing loss is one of the best things you can do. Go outside and get some fresh air and try to forget the last game. Don't talk to your friends about how shitty your luck is, because that will only make you tilt harder. You can't play your best if you're stressed out and angry, and you have to remind yourself that when you feel the tilt starting to creep in. You're going to end up on the wrong side of variance from time to time, and it happens to everyone. You have to come to terms with it or you'll never stop tilting. This isn't about changing my luck. It's about finding strategies for coping with bad luck, accepting it and moving on. I don't know how to play tight and not be emotionally invested / angry when I just lose to bad luck. I'm looking for advice on that. I remember Zem telling me "glory is fleeting, focus on improving over time" and I've tried to take that to heart. However, I feel I have plateaued and my bad luck / inability to accept it and not tilt are holding me back.
Blaming your failures on luck or variance gives you an invisible boogeyman to be angry at because "variance fucked me and there's nothing I could do about it." Of course you're going to tilt with an attitude like that. That's not helpful at all and it's not even true. Putting the blame in the right place (your choices) makes it impossible to tilt because it puts the control back in your hands. Choose a better archetype. Build a tighter deck. Metagame better. Shuffle more thoroughly. Mulligan correctly. Then all the play decisions that come after that. Then sideboard better.
There's always something you could have done better. Each loss is a lesson in what you can be doing better. Find that thing and correct it. Then the loss becomes an achievement. The loss is a good thing. The loss makes you stronger.
And tilting goes away.
Unless the lesson was "don't fucking tilt you neckbeard fuck."

We hit the "too big to stop" point a while ago, so when the clan essentially died, nobody really acknowledged itI just don't understand the sub community in a sub community in a sub community thing. What is Fires of Salvation at this point? Why is it?Dunno what else we can do. I post Magic content in the Magic area (like many members here who regularly discuss Standard), I moderate the almost-dead Rulings subforum, and I have a DTR playmat background when I stream MTGO.
If you're just annoyed that we blather here instead of the blather thread, that's OK. We like to blather here. You find value enough to keep posting here, and we have good enough senses of humor to laugh off the constant FoS neckbeard jokes.
You'll find a hidden subforum for the Gutter crew with nearly 48,000 posts, and we don't get on their case for not "doing more".

it really is funny how this running joke devolved to the point where it doesn't even fit the stereotypical fos-er anymore, just your average lgs neckbeardhe's an FoS member so obv no sports for him and you're an FoS member so obv no sports for youHave you ever played a competitive sport? By chance, were you a QB in football or pitcher in baseball? If yes to either, you QUICKLY learn to have a short-term memory during the game but learn from your mistakes after. Otherwise nobody would last after the first interception or home run. Just know there's nothing you can do right now, put it behind you, tell yourself you'll deal with it later, and focus on the present.Anyone have articles / strategies for not tilting? I'm trying to better myself and looking for places to start.
