I loved my Geists in the Cruise days so I can see where he was coming from. It definitely came off as someone who didn't like the deck and wasn't exactly sure how it was to be done.

You are correct about Living End, I misread the card. Cage stops Past in Flames nonsense in Storm but that alone might not be worth the sideboard slot. Orb stops the actual combo in Twin. The Junk players still play Finks, so it is more than just Rhino that I want to stop. Stony Silence shuts off a ...

Mana base is no more painful than anyone else's, really. I have the 4th shockland for extra white mana but it is stock otherwise (10 fetches, 4 basics). Stony Silence is to fight Affinity and Tron, which still has a following here. Molten Rain is useful against Tron but not many other opponents. Cag...

I definitely don't like Dissolve. The only card I care about that isn't hit by Stroke or Negate is Anafenza and I have Glare and Stance to knock that out. Hybridizing Juza's list, I came up with this. Submitting for opinions: Spells 1 Chandra, Pyromaster 2 Jeskai Charm 4 Lightning Strike 1 Sarkhan, ...

Maybe it is because I use the other two modes often enough that I might feel the loss. I can certainly see running less than 4. I am certainly going to spend some time looking at the list and massaging the numbers.

Rules question: If multiple Flamewake Phoenix cards are in the graveyard, can they all be brought back with just one [mana]R[/mana] at the beginning of combat? No, each Phoenix in the graveyard puts a trigger on the stack that says "Pay R to return this to the battlefield". You have to ha...

After playing in my LGS's weekly Modern tournament, I am dropping down to 19 lands. Flooding everywhere with 20. I probably have to put a Shard Volley there, even if I hate it, since I don't think there are any better 1 CMC spells I can use in its place.

And I will not look down on anyone who chooses to play them over GP ones. It is personal preference. If I wasn't on break during Zendikar, I would probably have acquired them at that time and be using them.

The only redeeming qualities of a Siege Rhino are the sounds and smells it eminates as I roast them from the inside out. Their howls of agony are just sublime and they make reasonable BBQ.

I've been 10-1 against UB Control with my Abzan aggro deck since the new year. It's literally impossible to lose to if you know what you're doing. I got second in Game Day today though. I lost to Sultai Control when I flooded out, but it's fine since my opponent and I decided to "share" t...

Another reason to stick with the originals. I think I will do so. This deck is also a story of my history in Magic. I should do it the honor it deserves and keep the originals.

I had a strange idea for a Burn list: It's just all of the greed. I'll try to test it in the next week. I don't think you can splash both black and green. The mana base just gets too painful and we get too vulnerable to LD. This is especially true if the Helixes end up in the sideboard to make it f...

I am a judge. I know all too well how varied their decisions on such things can be. The fact that I double sleeve will provide some insulation from the problem. I probably won't change them out anyway since I have had those Chain Lightnings since I started playing Magic back in the Ice Age era.

The more I look at things, the more I think I am likely to fall into the fold. Hide/Seek and Rakdos Charm are very powerful but I am not sure if I really need them. My earlier decisions might be biased by the fact that Scapeshift, Twin, and Storm are big in my area and those cards stop them cold.

I kinda like the Alesha as a way to rebuy Rabblemasters. I am not sure if it is worth it for my deck as it would be replacing Brimaz but I will at least consider such a thing for the sideboard in removal heavy fights.

Burn doesn't need any ramp. We tend to empty our hand after 3 turns as it is. I can understand your desire for graveyard hate if Reanimator is strong but you already have Macabre in the sideboard and have options like Tormod's Crypt or Relic of Progenitus. By all means feel free to test it but I thi...

I would advise against splashing in this deck, especially now that Wasteland is showing up in large numbers again. I do not believe that the benefits of DRS and Tyrant's Choice make up for the extra vulnerability.

Scepter has been a useful surprise for me. I pull it out the second I think they are going to bring in artifact hate or if they have access to Decay. I use Rain of Gore to handle lifegain. Skullcrack was a hard cut. It may be correct for me to shave on Helixes for them. Ascension also gives me a game plan in longer fights.

Most of the cards that don't deal damage are in my sideboard. I put them there for the "play this and not lose on the spot" effect that they have. I only tend to change out 3-5 cards for any particular matchup so my threat density is still pretty high.
