I don't know, I think it fits the plan of being aggro game 1. You know what I think sucks tho, is the extremely overpowered blue cards in the standard format at the moment. With the oodles of cheap counters and great card draw blue has at the moment, you would think the least they could do for fires...

you're not mardu midrange if you run swiftspear. How are you hitting your T1 untapped red consistently? This deck NEEDS the 4 Nomad Outpost and some number of temples, typically 4-8. Don't be simple. Just because there is a one drop doesn't mean it has to be played turn 1. Often both players turn 1...

Fair enough. I guess it's just a different deck then, basically Brad Nelson's RW aggro splashing Black for Cackling Doom and Butcher, which may still be worth it or not. Uh, no. It's his Mardu list subbing in Swiftspear for Rabblemaster. Then I started fiddling around with a few other cards (banish...

Because the list is incredibly tight and Swiftspear is incredibly low-impact in this shell. I find Swiftspear makes for more aggressive game 1s, and you just side it out if you go all control in 2/3. And Swiftspear->Seeker->Outburst into Butcher or Sorin is just sweet. And if you have to deviate on...

So other than having a Crackling Doom in hand, how else are you guys dealing with Prognostic Sphinx?

This is the most fun I've had in Standard since innistrad rotated. Oh, I agree, it is fun. Right now. I'm just wondering if after a few more weeks of Abzan, Jeskai, Mardu, and possibly some aggro red thrown in being pretty much the same decks in the top 32 if it will still be fun. Or is there still...

Is the format stagnant already?
Looking at the top lists from scg mn it looks to me that other than the (unwelcome,to me anyway) addition of BW Control, it's the same 4 or so decks in the top spots.
Is standard fully developed less than a month in?

Gryff stops the lifegain, SBD blocks him all day long, and there are excellent white cards to exile that fucker. They play 1 card, and we have to spend 2 to even begin to deal with it. Playtest the matchup and you'll start to see why it's so miserable. I've been trying multiple different decks, and...

Rabblemaster is fine. For the creature curve topper? For anything. It's a good card, and claiming it to be lackluster is being disingenuous. I think that's a bit of an oversimplification. I like RM, but I wouldn't want a deck with just him and some burn spells in it, would you? If the answer is no,...
