Well, it doesn't seem strange to me. I understand how it can be cool to save your creatures from burn spells, or live the dream of triple growth + boros charm double strike, but in the end i think it is just a high risk- high reward card that burn tipycally doesn't want. i want cards that deal damag...

I saw the norin combo deck on mtgpulse, it won a quite big tournament in japan. It looks fun and have lots of synergies, between norin/soul sister's/pridemate/champion of the parish/ and even purphoros.

I found it: http://mtgpulse.com/event/18469#260497 well, not big, there were 30 players XD

I am currently playing a 7th protection spell main deck , (ajani's presence), plus the stock six (4 god's willing 2 feat of resistance). Main deck is basically Tom Ross one - 2 eidolon of countless battles +1 heliod's pilgrim + 1 treasure cruise. Nice to see that good players come to the same conclusions (almost).

It's very real :) i feel like it is similar to last season's aura hexproof deck : most of the times you are doing absolutely broken things, but sometimes you draw the wrong part of your deck and do nothing. Zemanjaski's testing the deck too, he wrote some posts in the clan thread. Let's see if he co...

I'm pretty sure 20 lands are too few in U/W heroic ; excluding the case of turn 1 oplite turn 2 ordeal, all your other creatures cost 2, so you always want to hit at least 3 land drops to cast ordeal + protection spell turn 3. Besides, the deck is not totally prone to flooding, because 4 defiant str...

You are right, i should just have said that i believe smash to smithereens is a strictly better card in burn. You want wear/tear for enchantments, but if have to deal only with artifacts smash is the better choice. Look at it this way: wear/tear is just a 1 for 1 removal spell, and burn is not looki...

I like playing 2 wear/tear 2 smash to smithereens , because sometimes you want to board in 1-2 artifact destruction spells for annoying cards like dragon's claw, and the upside of dealing 3 damage is huge. I can't justify boarding in a spell that doesn't deal damage to destroy something that my oppo...

U/W heroic is both fun and a powerful deck..... sometimes though i just end up mulliganing into oblivion mainly because of color screw or 0 creatures in hand.

So you don't like blue. Best non blue deck at the moment is probably elves, but you dislike green too. This leaves you with few options : stompy decks (dragon stompy and MUD are the best), death and taxes, burn, imperial painter. Burn is fine, but you just lose to combo decks all the time. Death and...

None of those decks really appeal to me.

Is Deadguy Ale still a deck?

Black is not good anymore in midrange decks (jund, deadguy), since discard spells get crippled by treasure cruise.
The only way to play black is to pair it with blue or play fast combo.

All decks that feature a high curve with a manabase of ancient tomb and city of traitors (sol lands) can randomly lose to variance. You don't get to play brainstorm, force of will, treasure cruise. If you want a very competitive deck i would not recommend building mud. However, i always avoid playin...

Elves is an even matchup and a lot is decided by the die roll. Of course to win you have to see a mix of searing effects and lavamancers/eidolon. Just killing their creatures without applying pressure is a losing proposition because they have a lot of card advantage and will eventually recover and k...

Simian spirit guide is bad in burn -- we are not trying to cast an extremely powerful spell early that wins the game on its own, we just aim to kill the opponent with 6/7 cards in the most efficient way. Every resource is very important to win in a reasonable time frame and we need our lands to stay...

The 2/2 body on board is a huge difference when every spell costs 2 life. Pyrostatic pillar is at best a sideboard card against storm combo, while eidolon is good against almost everything. Just play with him a little bit and you will notice his strength.

I would add 1 more land to your list. You need to hit land drops for searing blaze, and post board is tough to get away with 19 lands when you are playing both bridge and vortex. Especially bridge becomes useless if you can't cast your spells quickly enough.

I don't think fetches are good at all. The deck has 17-19 lands and plays 3 drops, finding a 3rd land is not guaranteed so a lot of the time you will be thinning your deck with fetches even if you need another land to play all your spells.
Moreover, deck thinning is not as relevant as life loss.

Also straight burn has a good matchup against ascendancy -- the problem is not the deck itself because it can be beaten , but the fact that it can win consistently on turn 3 and turn 2 with a god hand, and this breaks modern rules according to wizards.
