I think I'd keep the deck as mainboard on the play except in the aggro mirror where I'd take -3 FFS, +3 Volcanic Strength. On the draw, the rest looks fine. Definitely bring in the threaten package against Charlie Murphy.

You should commit to a game plan, IMO. There isn't much ramping to consider except for from 3 to 5 in the form of a keyrune, but that doesn't mean you want to downsize your deck. As far as removal's concerned, this deck only loses to big fliers and Kalonian Hydra. All of those threats die to Mizzium Mortars, so just go 24 land, 4 Domri Rade, 4 Mizzum Mortars, and 28 creatures. I'd go:

4 Goliath
1 ragebeast
2 thar
5 hydras
1 primordial

With so many mana sources, don't we want things bigger than Kalonian Hydra? Not sure if we have many X-spells at our disposal, but this deck seems like it can make a monstrous (haha, no pun intended) amount of mana.

Alright, that's fair. I ran UB control to a 4-1 finish at my local shop last week. I basically had a list like these, but a Rewind and a Far // Way instead of the MB curses.

Does Curse of Death's Hold actually do anything right now? During the reign of BTE decks, it was almost a hard lock, but 4/4 Thundermaw Hellkites are still scary. I could see it out of the board against the stray Naya Blitz and Aristoctats deck, but MB seems suboptimal.

I don't think that's necessarily what I want to be doing. The only thing that would do is increase my green count, while reducing my turn-1 black and red sources. I'm thinkin' Rakdos Cackler -> Ash Zealot -> Hammer of Purphoros -> Purphoros, God of the Forge. Don't think anyone can beat two creatures, an enchantment that makes Finthoof Boars, and a god that adds a Shock onto each creature played, esp. on two life.
