Tbh I've considered going drinking alone for the same reasons, all my friends are sad people who just live for their families, I considered going out alone to have a drink, I mean what's the big deal? you sit at the balcon, ask for some drink, you may eventually chat with some other loner or the bartender, if not you can just enjoy your drink alone and casually watch people go by at the bar, I envision it like a possibility for a relaxed evening...

Warp, I stepped down from admin awhile back, but I've been given the authority to speak for the staff on this issue. Anyway, if you're getting 9 spam cards in the same forum for the same problem in ~900 posts, you're way above the norm. Like, that is actually quite extreme. It means that you aren't actually learning from the interactions. You and I were discussing your idealogical differences with the rules of the Rulings forum back in 2012. Let's call that our starting point. Maybe you have a slip-up here or there since then, but realistically that should not account for more than 2-3 warnings in a 3 year period. I'm not saying that out of some abstract concept of "I think this is reasonable", but rather out of knowing from experience how many warnings we give out and how many an individual poster might expect. Everyone makes their honest mistake, and we may even make them twice -- both of my warnings prior to coming on staff were for making the same mistake (at the time, that was two warnings in the space of what I think was 1500 posts). Now, let's ask who your posts hurt: Did someone get their pride wounded by your posts? No. Perhaps they were offended? Probably not. What might the problem be then? Your posts frequently have gone against the rules designed to make the Rulings forum into a resource. There was likely no "this post hurt me" moment (although nit-picking for its own sake does sometimes cause confusion and that does hurt someone in this context), but neither were they posts that were okay. And that you continued doing the same thing for three years running, I think that is a clear indicator that at best you were not learning from your mistakes and at worst were deliberately ignoring them. As for infractions being arbitrary? I don't think they are. Sometimes they are inconsistent. Maybe we don't see a post, or we see it 2 weeks after the fact, or we see a thread go so far off the rails that we'd rather just yank it back on course without carding 15 people that were screwed by circumstance. Those are all areas where inconsistencies arise, and we acknowledge that. But those are things that we accept as realities of running a site. And we trust the judgement of our mods in these cases. I won't deny that some of your interactions with the staff have been less than ideal -- I still remember the tangle we discussed back in the day as not being our staff's best foot forward. But I think that that it is not really germane to our discussion. In our shoes, if you're having the same trouble with the same poster month in and month out, what would you do? We tried to work through it with you for close to 3 years. When is it no longer responsible to sink staff hours into just you when those might instead be spent on the rest of the community? A subforum ban was deemed the best possible response. On any other forum after this many staff altercations, you'd have probably been banned. We don't really see you causing problems or breaking rules except in Rulings. Our solution was to separate you from the location where you had repeated trouble. These subforum bans are incredibly rare - I can think of less than 10 users who have recieved them, but we judge them to be fairer to you and your involvement in the community than falling back on our other remaining option (the full site ban). lo...
