Hey Scumbag, you ever see that movie Gravity that came out last year? The whole time I was watching it I kept thinking "I wonder what a rocket scientist would make of this thing?"

"I wonder what a rocket scientist would make of this thing?"
It was Okay

It was nice to see conservation of momentum (angular and linear) accurately represented, and the lack of sound transmission in space.

tbf I think that parachute entanglement scene took artistic license with the laws of motion for increased dramatic effect

I actually found more funny that through pure coincidence, the hubble telescope/shuttle, ISS, and Chinese space station were all within view range of each other, what a serendipitous movie event!

Dude, all the satellites are spread out over a 200 sq. mile curved surface area, so of course the Chinese rocket test could turn them into shrapnel :sherlock:

I don't follow, its implied its the kessler syndrome situation. rocket fucks up one satelite who fucks up two or more, who inturn fuck up two and more each, etc... untill all the satellites in this kind of orbital range are consumed?

by rezombad
if a large enough collision or explosion were to occur, such as between a space station and a defunct satellite, or as the result of hostile actions in space, then the resulting debris cascade could render low Earth orbit essentially impassable
some men just want to watch LEO burn.

I was being sarcastic there, should have changed my avatar to Kait's to make it more obvious.

An African or European swallow?

by ( G_R )
I ask because I don't believe I can help you with the South African one. The European one, however, has an average airspeed of 11 m/s or about 24 mph, according to the findings of one J. Corum. :teach:

Because it conducts the microwaves like the oven walls, except aluminum paper folds easier so you can have locally spikes and it happens the same like in a lightning storm, the currents are attracted to spikes and you can get sparks as a result that can light off inflamable stuff inside.

that's why you can microwave a spoon and not a fork
