Finally got to start watching this. I'm on Season 2, episode...5 I think. Of course, there's only 2 seasons on NetFlix, so I'll be behind always, but still.

This show is so amazing.

Anyone else wanna discuss it?

All I ask is that you PLEASE use spoilers for anything specific, out of respect for me.

Chances are...I haven't seen what you're talking about. :(

Yeah great show, this is what I would expect a zombie apocalypse to be like, not this resident evil movie rubbish.

I think it's Thursday that they have been showing season 1 in black and white on AMC. I think next Thursday will only be episode 4? It's kinda cool.

While that sounds really cool, not gonna say it doesn't, I'm not a fan of black and white. My brain clicks boredom with black and white for some reason.

How can it sound really cool and boring at the same time?

I'm also a huge Walking Dead fan, new episode tomorrow night, can't wait. Not much else to say without giving spoilers.

I'm amazed how much the T.V. show has differed from the Comic.

Tyrce, Hershel and The Governor come to mind.

Because I respect the art of the action, but personally I would very likely be bored watching it.

What season is the show in?

Cause NetFlix has the first 2 seasons, so I thought it was in the third, but some guys at work said it's, like, 4th or 5th, and I really hope that's not true. :(

Last thing that happened on the show (for me) is

Rick and Shane took the kid that got impaled on the fence to a place to drop him off, got into a fist fight, released a mini-horde of walkers, then got the hell out of there, but not without making Shane think he was getting left behind!

I was very sad that Sophia was in the barn.
But, I predicted <Rick's wife who I seem to have blanked out on her name :o> would come up pregnant and not know who the father is! And, I wish Daryl would pull his head out of his ass! He's my favorite.

Hooray! You just made my day, k8.

I can't wait til NetFlix has it. We only have 3 episodes left on Season 2. :(

You're going to be waiting a while, but its worth it.

You're just at all the best parts of season two. A lot of people didn't like season two for the slow farm set-up, but I found the payoff worth it.

I'm glad to hear that, because it has been pretty slow so far. Regardless, I've still really enjoyed every episode. Everyone always forgets that the best thing about zombie movies/shows is the portrayal of the human side, what the uninfected are doing.

Well, except for Cell by Stephen King. Have you read that book? If not, you absolutely should. It is a masterpiece, imo.

I read it a long time ago. I didn't find it anything close to a masterpiece.

GOD DAMN Rick is a Dumb Character Sometimes.

"Wait, Don't stop that zombie from setting off a trap WHILE we are trying to sneak through here."
"Oh, Wow Carl didn't go where I told him. It's only been a YEAR of this happening."

So I finished Season 2 last night.

Some thoughts:

Why the hell did Dale have to die? I told the hubby, "There goes the heart of the group." Though, actually, the right word should be conscience.
I'm so glad Shane's fucking dead. That prick.
Who the hell was the badass chick with the katana and two zombies chained to her? What the hell?!
Oh, god, if they're all infected, Lori's baby's going to come out a zombie!
Yay, Daryl didn't leave them!!!
Now I've got to figure out how to watch Season 3 since we don't have cable. Hmmmm.

I read this, haha.

Seriously, Carl's going to get himself killed. What the hell is this kid thinking?! I thought it would have gotten better since he feels he's the reason Dale's dead, but apparently not? Booooooooooooo.

So I've heard. I can't wait to see it. I DO know that they end up holing up in a prison, which I think is a brilliant idea. :D

I'll just add in that the reason I consider it masterpiece-level literature is because it was ingenuitive. AFAIK, Stephen King is the only author of any medium to give zombies another purpose. The zombies in Cell weren't JUST mindless eating machines. And incredibly well-written.

Ok, so an update.

We watched a bit more. Here's what's happened so far:

They got into the prison.
Hershel lost a leg, but not his life, so that's good.
T-Dog sac'd himself for Carol. :(
Carol was missing, but Daryl found her, just like I knew he would.
Rick lost his mind for a bit, hearing phones ringing and ghosts talking to him.
Andrea turned up with the katana lady, named M'Shon, apparently, and they got abducted by The Governor.
Lori died giving birth to Judith, and Carl had to put her down.
Glenn and Maggie got abducted by Merle and taken to Woodbury.
Rick, Oscar, Daryl, and M'Shon went after them.
M'Shon impaled the Governor through the eye and killed his zombie daughter.
nEveryone got out of Woodbury, except Daryl, who is now in the town square staring at his brother, who's been accused of being a traitor by the Governor.
My thoughts:

I totally hoped Lori would be ok, and that Hershel would be able to perform the c-section himself. :(
Judith is a stupid name.
M'Shon is a legit badass.
I'm not too worried about Daryl and Merle. They'll get out alive, and I'm hoping the group will overthrow the Governor and end up living in Woodbury themselves.

Also, a friend at work has every graphic novel issue in digital form and has offered to give them to me if I bring him a flash drive. The only one I have right now holds only 128MB, so I gotta find our other one. But, I do intend to read them. :D

The Comic is amazing and I've been impressed by how the T.V. show hasn't just blatantly copy & pasted it.
Carl+Mominprison
There's a theory that Carl didn't kill Lori Nor was she eaten by a Zombie.

When T-Dog is taken out by the two Zombies they only have enough time to eat his arms and some of his chest. Lori was eaten completely and unlike when they were looking for the little girl Rick didn't carve open the Zombie to check. It's a time/mass discrepancy.

There's also the fact that if Carl shot Lori in the Head why was the Bullet not eaten?

It's kinda nuts but It'd be awesome if she showed up randomly a few seasons from now a total badass.

The CDC episodes are awesome in black and white. I hope they keep on showing all the episodes like this.

Also just knocked out Seasons 1/2 in a few days. Probably will work on Season 3 when I get back from PAX.

I didn't dislike S2 as much as a lot of my coworkers/friends. Thought it did some pretty solid character development.

Spoilers man
Can someone explain to me why/how Merle went out like a bitch to the Governor? Dude can fight in the Arena for 5-10 min but can't take one shot from a random middle-aged man?

He was extremely intoxicated, and the Governor caught him by surprise. Then like bit his finger off while they were brawling...

Not to mention, the entire thing seemed like a pretty obvious suicide-by-another-hand mission, so I don't think Merle was even trying.

Yeah, Dan, I think k8 hit the nail on the head there.

OK, so I'm finally caught up! Of note:

I was REALLY disappointed that Rick ever even thought the Governor would keep his end of the deal, but I suppose that's because he was HOPING he could trust him.
While I knew Merle would become a zombie, thanks to baguy, I didn't know how or the circumstances around that. I was heartbroken by Daryl's reaction. Probably not as much as he was supposed to be, but yeah. I don't like seeing Daryl cry. :(
I called that Milton was the one that burned the pet walkers. :D
Andrea's death hit me the hardest of all of this. It's funny because I never really liked her, but her last words really got to me because I realized,
all through the show, that she'd been trying to make sure no one died.
BUT I'm all caught up. Now I gotta get these 3 seasons on some DVDs so we can get our friend caught up, then we can all watch it when Season 4 comes on! (Chris has cable. :D)

Like others have said before the comic is really good, I'd recommend it if you like the TV show. I remember not letting my girlfriend read the comic when the TV series started so it wouldn't be spoiled for her, then suddenly the first deviation in the TV series' story happened and I'm all "whoa wait what?" So yeah, not only will you get a great comic (I like it more than the series but hey, totally different medium and all that jazz), you also get a pretty different story to keep you on your toes. Free wins man, free wins
