Flame Rift is also VERY crucial in beating leyline of sanctity. I was able to win 3 out of 4 games where leyline was dropped against me. Also helps beat chalice of the void on 1 until you get a smash to smithereeen
Really? can you elaborate?
Sneak and Show will mull there hand until they hit a leyline, as I would mull a hand until I had Ashen Rider/Ensnaring bridge. The fact flame rift does not target helps you get in crucial damage in a matchup that is essentially a race.

YP$ is VERY good. I played it a lot a few months ago (when the meta was still much the same) and it did so much work, especially against D&T.

^^^^ This. Flame Rift is really important.

I just mean like, did you Flame Rift them four times?

That actually looks pretty good, but without searing blaze I don't think you need 12 fetches.

I think you could cut some ensnaring bridges in favor of the searing blazes for fair decks. I'd go 3 Ashen Rider 1 Bridge.

Presumably Ashen Rider'd the Leyline? And Flame Rift gives you something to do til you get there.

Checked, and the event is this Saturday. $500 to win. I don't know how the legacy players are around here, but last event I went to (August 2012) I was the only one with a real legacy deck...

Price of Progress, Flame Rift and Sulfirc Vortex are good vs them.

Echoing Truths blows out ensnaring bridge, but it certainly buys a lot of time if they are forced to search for it.

Is what I might do. Nothing worse than getting your Mindbreak Trap ripped out of your hand by Duress right before they Tendrils. I actually liked a 1 of bridge vs elves. I lost a very close match where I had a bridge out and an empty hand, he beat me with a top deck Deathrite lol.

Forgot about the blasts. They are crucial to stopping a True Name, or stopping them from countering your fireblast for lethal.

[deck]Sideboard (15)
3 Ashen Rider
2 Pyrostatic Pillar
3 Smash to Smithereens
2 Surgical Extraction
1 Ensnaring Bridge
2 Searing Blaze (bad vs goyf, and will get dazed/force on t2 if you target a delver)
1 Pyroblast
1 Red Elemental Blast[/deck]

Thats what I think too. I don't think you want 12 fetches with only 2 lavamancers, you are just at such a disadvantage in race matchups.

I'd also recommend trying Pyro as a 2-of. It's way better than you'd expect.

I'd play like 18/1, maybe 18/2 split? Barbarian ring is actually not terrible when you aren't playing fetches, but you could play another burn spell in its place as well.

YP: Try it. Playtest it. See if you like it.

As discussed before, legacy is REALLY meta dependent. In an open, you'd expect to face more fair decks, aka more decks in which you need to race in G1. Winning G1 is very crucial IMO for burn because being on the play is HUGE.

In matches that blaze is good (D&T [ I dont like blaze vs elves, if you are killing their elves you have already lost]). The more I think about it, the open list from Dallas isn't terrible at all.

YP$ ranges from very good (vs fair decks) to outright terrible (vs combo). You're already weak to the latter, so what do you want to hedge against?

If you cut Lavamancer (which I think is a mistake), I think running Barbarian Ring is quite fine. Lavamancer has the same issue as Young Pyromancer but he's much better in the matchups where he's good (Elves, D&T, Delver).

He's a lot better vs Elves than Young Pyromancer. He is not as good against green-based Delver lists, true. I was referring to UWR Delver which is the most successful of all the Delver lists.

They definitely are, but it's not like Burn has a favorable preboard matchup against Elves anyway.

Pre or Post board is not as relevant as on the play/on the draw vs elves.

Yeah its a shitty matchup, same with sneak and show. You either win or you lose and not much SBing will help. Smash is wayyy better vs D&T than searing blaze is.

lots of pyroclasm effects and searing blaze

Although if they get 4 mana and a dude, they can natural order Proginitus or Ruric Thar and simply not care

The deck is solid, but it's likely to be a very small percentage of the field (cost), and of those, how many of them are actually going to be able to do well with it is even fewer (believe it or not, it's a remarkably hard deck to simply play, never mind sideboarding with it), to wit, I know exactly 2 people that have the cards to play it at a LGS full of people with guru lands, beta duels and multiple lands players

Literally not worth your time to worry about it.

Yeah, its bad in race matchups, which is why you side it out. You lose to craterhoof vs elves, your only chance vs elves is to race, rift is the best card for that(on the play).
