I believe this guy just drew a parallel between committing murder and breaking the rules on MTGS.

Rules are rules people. Just like anything else in life, you should take the time to learn it before partaking in it.

Could you imagine if we lived in a world that allowed criminals to plea "I didn't know that rule/law" and for that reason got away with say... murder?

It's not hard to read the rules for this site. It takes no more than 20 minutes to do so and makes forum life more simple in the process.

You know, I can't think of many things, and not a single enjoyable thing, that I learned every aspect of before partaking in.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more lulzy that argument gets. Like, even ignoring the inherently laughable slippery-slope strawman* of comparing posting on an internet forum to straight up murdering people, in order to take the statement seriously you have to basically assume that murdering people is super-fun happy time, like the most fun thing in the world... if it weren't for those meddling kids laws, we'd all be just shooting up the place 'cuz lulz. Not to mention, rather than using, say, realistic and civilized courts of law as their baseline, where ignorance of the law is a defensible position in most 1st-world countries... even in murder cases... they've apparently decided to go with the Barbarian Code of Ethics where any retributive action taken on a lawbreaker is considered a form of unadulterated 'justice' and therefore is legitimate.

[* - I know I'
ve said this before, but it bears repeating, I totally have dibs on the band name Strawman and the Slippery Slopes]

I wonder how long it's going to be before "She's a witch, burn her!" will be considered a useful tool for rooting out posters who need to be banned.

Barinellos at his finest, locking a thriving discussion thread for absolutely no reason - no heated arguing, no previous moderator action, no explanation....nothing.

EDIT: I'm guessing he disagreed with the OP's premise and couldn't be bothered resorting to his usual discussion style (ie. "Everything I say is correct because Barinellos. Don't like it? MODTEXT!")

Barinellos sucks. I couldn't post in storyline forum because of him. He constantly makes lore shit up and then threatens to close threads if you debate it.

In terms of pure beard to neck ratio, Barinellos is probably the biggest nerd on MTGS.

Do the new forums have the feature that shows you who's reading the thread, or is the no current way to harass people by visiting every thread they do?

You know a way to get Barinellos really angry? Ask him to cite his answers about MTG lore. I used to do it a lot as Madding.

More Barinellos:
After conferring with Kaburi, we've decided that this thread has pretty much burnt out its life and hung around longer than is healthy. As a final parting note, I will say that for a decision that ultimately, as some indicate, doesn't matter, it has caused a lot of stir amongst the fanbase. It's a phenomenon that is worth carefully considering because I think it says a lot about what we do hold important in Wizard's decisions. Just something for everyone to meditate on.
The topic that had "hung around longer than is healthy" = a discussion on Kiora, the Crashing Wave's last name. Definitely a subject that warrants heavy-handed moderation :?

EDIT: Hilarious that he acknowledges its a subject that caused a stir and people consider it important.....but then went ahead and locked the thread anyway.

Maybe because they finally understood they have been nothing than puppets at the hands of Curse and finally decided to resign before they lose their token dignity.

Dignity being an alien concept for the lapdog, he is prolly gonna do just fine as head honcho.
