To be honest, the last time I played in a sanctioned event was two weeks before Khans came out. But I still like to scope out edh foils, and would love to have my finishers for Blue Tron in foil (makes them easier to pick out when searching with Fabricate or Treasure Mage).

The actual rioting is happening in Ferguson I believe. It's mostly large peaceful protests/marches in other major cities.

What I find interesting is the racial line the issue is drawing online. The difference in opinion between most white people vs all other minorities is overwhelming.

Ferguson is on the other side of the state from me. I'm staying out of the discussions. The racism here is quite pervasive in a subtle way.

The true damage that comes from these types of events is that the communities affected by them are going to be much worse off. There is now an active segment of the population that does not trust the police. How could you trust an officer after that person was aiming a rifle at your face just days before? By going through with this sham of a grand jury hearing, the authorities have actively come out against the black population of that area. Reading some of the gloating reactions to the decision really turns my stomach.

As a white father, it's sad to realize that I don't have to worry about my white kids being shot by the police like this.

Or you could teach your white kids to not rob a store, punch a police officer in the face, run away, and then get mad when they get blasted. All he had to do was follow the rules, and listen to the officer. If he did nothing wrong, nothing would of happened.

Let me punch you in the face multiple times, and then you can decide if it worth killing me in order to save your life.

Police officers are highly trained in hand-to-hand combat. An unarmed cop against an unarmed teenager will put the cop at minimal risk. None of us know the true details of the incident, so don't pretend that shooting someone six times in the chest is justified just because he hit you. Maybe it was justified and maybe it wasn't - I suspect that's why he got off, because they couldn't prove anything - but to say that it's justified every time a cop kills a bad guy is just wrong.

I agree with you Star, we weren't there so we can't prove anything. But the story of being punched in the face in his car, getting his door slammed on him, then punched again, caused him to fear his life. There was no hand-to-hand combat. He assaulted an officer, then tried to run away and got blasted. The officer does not know what is hiding in his belt line, always assume your suspect is more dangerous than he presents.

If this was a white kid, this would have been a non issue as far as left wing media is concerned. this was Holder's and the Democratic Party last chance to try and win back the black voters, so they turned this into a race war.

Have you seen the pics taken of Officer Wilson at the hospital after the incident? He has a small bruise on his right cheek. That is hardly indicative of the scenario you've described. And since when was lethal force a good response to theft?

Plus, the "if you've done nothing wrong" line betrays a vital lack of understanding. Consider this, are you the one who gets to decide the rules? That is an exceptionally dangerous way to think about situations like this.

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said "highly", but he for sure would have known a few easy take-downs and pressure points. Certainly would have known how to handle himself well enough against an unarmed teenager who'd just been shot in the leg, for example (this is very likely what would have happened in Canada, by the way). He had time to fire six times. The final bullet went through the kid's forehead. Like... damn. As I said before, maybe it was justified, I don't know the details, but it certainly doesn't sound like a situation that most officers would truly consider "life threatening".

"According to testimony released by McCulloch's office Monday night, Wilson said Brown hit him in the face after a confrontation. Wilson drew his gun in fear that Brown would knock him out. Wilson said Brown nearly dared him to shoot Brown.

Wilson said he managed to pull the trigger, and the gun "clicked" twice without firing before a shot went through the window. Wilson said Brown stepped back and then looked at him with the "most intense, aggressive face."

"The only way I can describe it, it looks like a demon, that's how angry he looked. He comes back towards me again with his hands up."

Brown took off running and Wilson followed him. Wilson said Brown eventually stopped and approached him. Wilson yelled to Brown to get on the ground. Wilson alleges Brown kept coming toward him and put his hand under his waistband of his pants.

Wilson said Brown was looking like he was going to tackle him. Wilson then fired shots toward Brown's head, killing him."

Sounds like the ending of Gran Torino.

The real problem with this situation is that we have no idea what really happened. I have advocated body cameras on police officers for a while and this is a big reason why. People misremember events, particularly in stressful situations. Eyewitness accounts can be inaccurate. It would certainly have helped immensely and quite possibly defused the situation before it broke out into multiple instances of rioting.

Sometimes multiple shots won't take a person down when they are pumped with adrenaline. 6 shots would be excessive if the 2nd shot put Brown down, and the last 4 were to finish him off. But the 6th shot, to the head, was what put Brown down.

Multiple eye witnesses say Brown charged the officer, got shot twice, and continued to charge the officer. If you think 290lb man goes down after 2 9mm shots when he is pumped full of adrenaline, you are dead wrong (no pun intended).

Wasn't it the bad guys shooting in that movie? ;-)

I have no problem with an officer using a gun in a situation like this. I have a problem with an officer "firing shots toward Brown's head, killing him" when it was probably unnecessary. Since when do officers shoot for the head anyway?

He did not have a body cam. Most police departments do not issue them yet. There has been a major push to get them since this incident. Most police vehicles have dash cams but that only helps if the incident happens in front of the vehicle.
