Went 2-1 with this list:
[deck]Zero Hour Red[/deck]
Played against ???Control(W), Grixis Control(L-g3), Esper Control(W)
Found myself boarding out the fodders and outbursts for more burn and regents.
First player realized too late that Citadel Siege does not answer Thundergent Damn liferam is a pain in the ass.
Grixis control was close, couldn't close out the final 5 which lead to stablization.
Esper was just pressure as much as possible, and then G2 go for as much value as possible before he got going on 5 mana. Did lucksack a bit with him not hitting any of his SB tech.
Went into the night without any research so was doing a lot of analysis on the fly. Athersnap(or whatever the blue tempo bounce is) can throw a wrench in the works when in top decking mode. Had brakes slammed by the white exile effect. And those rams! Thinking that Lightning Berserker might make the list just to power thru those durdles.
Based on how I performed tonight and what I saw, Sledgehammer may be a solid bet. RG Monsters/Midrange put up multiple results as well.

My wife was watching a show called See No Evil on ID (Investigative Discovery), and there was a story about a MTG related murder. They did a pretty hilarious job of making MTG seem like the seedy underbelly of the fantasy gaming world. At one point, one of their "experts" says that she thinks the most expensive card in the game is called "Black Widdow". If anyone is interested it was season 2 episode 3.

Pretty stock Splinter Twin, I think my list is a bit worse than what is in vogue on mtgo right now but it was submitted for the top 8 three weeks ago:
[deck]UR Twin[/deck]
Creatures
3 Deceiver Exarch
3 Pestermite
4 Snapcaster Mage
2 Vendilion Clique
Spells
2 Cryptic Command
2 Electrolyze
2 Gitaxian Probe
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Logic Knot
4 Remand
4 Serum Visions
2 Spell Snare
4 Splinter Twin
Lands
1 Breeding Pool
1 Desolate Lighthouse
3 Island
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Steam Vents
4 Sulfur Falls
2 Tectonic Edge
Sideboard
2 Ancient Grudge
1 Batterskull
1 Disdainful Stroke
1 Dispel
1 Engineered Explosives
2 Grim Lavamancer
1 Keranos, God of Storms
3 Molten Rain
1 Negate
2 Threads of Disloyalty
[/deck]
I think the stick list (md Dispel and Lavamancers, sb Sowers) is a pretty good improvement even if the ideas were the same.

The sub Disdainful Stroke was because of the composition of the top 8; would not take into a regular event.

Dat molten rain though.
@Jamie: I missed the standard portion of the invitational, but I believe Reid 4-0'd standard with some sidis deck using both sidisi's and Tom Ross boss slighed the shit out of people.
In my testing/experience, Jeskai tokens with secure the wastes, dragon fodder, and narset is busted. BIG breakthrough was realizing that encase in ice breaks the abzan agro matchup quite favorably in my favor.
The mono-black deck owen posted is decent. Deck is dookie vs. red agro and jeskai, but if there's any worthwhile takeaway, it's that pitiless horde is one of the premier cards of the set. That, and it's the deck that most cleanly incorporates thoughtseize and duress which is a tried and true recipe for success.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

-1 Virulent Plague -1 Stratus Dancer +2 Tasigur, the Golden Fang, and I'm in there like swimwear. I'll probably add Anticipate and Dragonlord Silumgar (sideboard) to my U/B deck first before I test esper though.Soorani's Esper list:
[deck]
Creatures (4)
2 Dragonlord Ojutai
2 Silumgar, the Drifting Death
Planeswalkers (3)
3 Narset Transcendent
Lands (26)
4 Island
2 Swamp
1 Caves of Koilos
4 Polluted Delta
2 Radiant Fountain
4 Temple of Deceit
4 Temple of Enlightenment
4 Temple of Silence
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Spells (27)
3 Anticipate
4 Dig Through Time
4 Dissolve
4 Hero's Downfall
4 Silumgar's Scorn
3 Ultimate Price
2 Utter End
3 Crux of Fate
Sideboard
1 Pearl Lake Ancient
1 Stratus Dancer
4 Encase in Ice
1 Virulent Plague
2 Negate
1 Ojutai's Command
1 Dragonlord Silumgar
4 Drown in Sorrow[/deck]
Looks fun, no idea if it's optimal yet. I want to play Siliumgar and Ojutai, and this list does. So there's that.

I trust your judgment of character.I'm rooting for him.but he's so consistently unlikable
He's still a dirty Bama fan.
I find it hilarious that so many people love him in chat and HATE Jeff Hoogland. It's a strange dynamic.

SCG strategy: host an invitational to showcase SCG stars, put two CFB members into finals.

I've seen a CFB shirt on SCG's cameras more weekends than not. And you almost always see people sporting shirts of their local stores. I think Ross Merriam usually wears an Ice Imports shirt, which is his local in CT (it has a few locations I think). I think it's kinda cool that SCG doesn't seem to care about that. They just want their tournaments to have success, and Jacob Wilson and Reid Duke being in the finals of their event is huge name recognition in this game.SCG strategy: host an invitational to showcase SCG stars, put two CFB members into finals.
I suppose you could also argue that they're so large they have nothing to care about when it comes to that. But I don't know much about the relative market saturation of CFB and SCG.
Thanks to NerdBoyWonder for the amazing sig!
Son, I want you to know that no matter what happens between your mother and me, it's all your fault.
