Interesting. I got my B.S. in Econ, but I'm about to start my MStat in Econometrics. Things like the hypergeometric distribution post you made and such just made me figure you had done something along those lines, but given what the engineering students I've been in classes with (I had to take Calc 1-3 as pre-reqs for my masters...Calculus for Economists didn't cut it, tons of various engineering majors in those calc classes,) I shouldn't be surprised.
That sounds like my experience as well. We took so many math courses that many of us could have gotten a math minor with another quarter or two of coursework. I was already behind schedule at that point so I elected to GTFO and get a job instead
I should have looked into that, but I honestly had zero desire to be involved with math or (especially) stats once I had the required courses done. Then, in my last semesters before finishing, I discover a little emphasized (at my school...the econ program is seriously into the heterodox, which in this case, means a lot of the touchy-feely "making money makes other people sad, so let's be Marxists" BS, and less of the mathy, actual skill type stuff,) program within the Econ department that introduced me to Econometrics, and economic analysis tools as a whole, and I changed course from a future MBA to a future MStat, and love it.

Of course, by the time I was taking my calc classes, I already had my bachelors. They made me take Trig before I could take Calc, even though I had already done Calc for Economists.

I'd play modern if the prices were even just a bit lower and also they did something to shake up the format once every few months. Maybe some new cards enter the format, and some old ones leave? That sounds pretty fun. Maybe they can make a format like that.
You sound like someone that doesn't own a playset of Snapcaster Mages.

Sorry for ya. :p
I sold mine when they rotated from Standard.
That was your first and most likely all of your mistakes.

Snapcaster is Eternal.

I wonder if I should hang on to my Temples. They're generic enough to be reprinted at some point.
I thought they would be reasonable at first and some of the combo color ones may be, but ETB tapped 100% of the time is a substantial drawback for a land that you can't fetch in Modern without game-winning bonuses. Such as Ranvica karoos and manlands.

What do you have? My short list of stuff to keep is Thoughtseize, Master of Waves, Brimaz, Courser, Keranos, Mana Confluence, Nykthos, Nyx Fleece Lamb, Eidelon of Rhetoric, Anger of the Gods, Drown in Sorrow, Spirit of the Labyrinth, and Eidelon of the Great Revel. I list Thoughtseize and not other reprints because it's just a very good idea to keep Thoughtseize forever.

I have a B.S. in mechanical engineering, I went to Cal Poly SLO. I passed my Professional Engineer license exam last year, so I think it's just swimming in piles of money from now on.
Didn't know you went to Cal Poly. So many engineers at my work went there that they refer to it as "The Institution" around here.

One time I saw Caleb Durward maindeck it in legacy on a stream and go 3-1 in a daily and that's really good enough for me given the fact that it's not like you're losing value by keeping a playset tucked away for when Boggart Ram-Gang/Battering Ram/Nyx-Fleece Ram finally prove that you don't need Brainstorm to game in Eternal.

What will win Magic Origins: Having a Planeswalker Snapcaster or 0/2s being very vulnerable to removal spells before they can tap?

BTW for all interested, the Pip Boy Edition of Fallout 4 preorder is still available on Amazon. I'm surprised it hasn't sold out yet, but if you want a wearable Pip Boy or just want to make money and get a free copy of Fallout 4 for your troubles, I would preorder before they sell out.

It's a pretty ballin' place, one gets a lot of engineering street cred for having gone there. It's also fun to sneer at the UC Davis grads :artist:

So...my computer keeps bugging me to take advantage of some free upgrade to windows 10.

I didn't even know they were making a new version already, and I'm too lazy to REALLY look into it. From what I've read, it will be "better" in the long term, but buggy in the short term.

I believe the latter part wholeheartedly. Not sure if I buy into the former though...should I pull the trigger?

You get a year to install the free upgrade, so I reserved my copy and will wait for the bugs to be sorted out. I'm on W7 now.

Maverick -- I just wanted to give you a heads up that for roughly the price of a tier-1 Standard deck, you can own all of the cards in Netrunner and only ever have to spend more money on the game as new data packs are released/if you want to acquire promos or extra copies of expansions to build multiple decks. I bought into Netrunner last week for ~$350, given that I had to pay extra for one of the out of print (currently being reprinted) expansions w/ a Corp staple. If you're still sour on Magic and Magic-money, the combination of coolstuffinc and rollforcrit got me all of the expansions but 2 that are OOP at deep discounts, and one of those two was available for MSRP on a site after some googling (Future Proof).

Yeah, it's the first Legacy tournament in our area in over three years, and I expect Oops All Spells, Dredge, and other non interactive graveyard decks to be out in full force. It's an 8 proxy tournament too, so that could also fuel the degeneracy. Of course I'm taking a nonblue deck to this expected meta because FoS.

So how the fuck did that crazy white lady in Washington convince anyone she's black, or even part black. The rest of the story doesn't even matter, the headline in Washington should be "first truly color blind state", because apparently everyone in that state is now too baked to tell black from white.
