Hopefully this will be a decent sized print run and make a dent in some prices. If the whole point of Modern is that it's supposed to be a cheaper, more accessible eternal format that people can get into without dropping thousands of dollars on old cards that will never get reprinted, they need to support it with MM style sets that are actually available. I plan to get a couple boxes myself. I'm fine with standard for now but if this is the direction things are headed it will definitely help. Then again, rotating INN block may be a big help.

Alex, bad moonshine is pretty bad, but good moonshine is the best stuff there is.

Any particular flavor?

My biggest problem with MM? I'm probably not going to be able to get it any sort of quantity. At least one LGS I go to is planning on using their entire supply for drafting (they're making assumptions on the amount they'll get, so that COULD change,) and given my family situation, I really can't go draft every day of the week until the supply is exhausted (what I've heard they might be doing.)

My brother-in-law got some Apple Pie moonshine and we sampled it on Easter. Pretty decent. He also had a blueberry one that tasted slightly like cough syrup. I've heard that most straight moonshine tastes very similar to gasoline, but I've never tried any myself. I usually prefer rum. Guess I'm just a pirate at heart.

As for Modern, I am finally taking the plunge. Up until now, I've only played Standard and EDH. I've got 90% of the cards for a R/G Blitz deck already, just need to acquire the fetches. And the fact that my LGS runs their Modern tournaments on Saturday afternoons is nice. I don't really like spending my Friday nights there.

Yeah if the print run is that limited they are doing it wrong. I think MM is a great idea and I like the premise of Modern, the cheaper alternative to an eternal format. Well if that's the premise support it with sets like these. Besides, isn't the whole point for them to make money? They don't make money when you buy a $120 goyf off ebay. They make money selling boxes that might contain goyf

Right, but the argument is...they'll sell less boxes if people don't have faith that they can rely on their money cards increasing in value over time. If MM came out, and was twice the size of RTR, and made modern staples accessible to everyone, yes, they'd sell a shitload of boxes of MM...but they'd probably sell less of Theros, because people would be wary of buying cards that will likely drop in value in the next reprint collection.

It's fuzzy logic, and I can understand it, but certainly don't agree with it.

Yep, been there, done that. Burned the t-shirt.

PS: Finally made an alternate account on MTGS. Holy crap, the clan thread dropped to page 2! Victoryyyyy. Also my incognito name isn't a stretch. (I actually got the name "Alexander," I'm pissed.)

Eh, the current estimation is around 18 boxes (or
three cases) for WPN (read: small) stores. I suspect that the supply will be adequate for most of the initial demand. I believe it will get much trickier as time goes on. Moreover, simply having people have the stuff in trade binders will help overall.

I think we'll get regular modern reprints. Why? Because it is the best way for WotC to capitalize on the secondary market. Something they've been trying to do for a few years. Honestly, it's probably good for everyone who wants to play, even if they are being careful.

Hah, doesn't shock me whatsoever.

I'm not technically a resident of North Carolina, I haven't even gotten my license changed over yet. I probably won't bother, because once my mother is well enough to be on her own, I'll likely be shipping back to Florida. Say what you will about Floridians, but I looooooved living in Orlando. It's everything I like about New York City (plenty of things to do nearby, good eats, decent theaters) without all of the things I hate about New York City. (Lots of homeless people, horrible traffic, etc.)

Random topic: Is there a format with a competitive deck that plays Figure of Destiny? Cause I fucking love that card. Would play again.
