First off, happy birthday to the FoS people who have had recent ones (pyreheart, lorddax, and RT). I'm a bit surprised at the number of April birthdays around here. My birthday was on the 15th (but I tend to keep personal info off of public profiles, so that's why no one knew).
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this...I know that the relationship has no implied causality, but it raises some eerie questions about the base philosophies behind astrology. And add me to the April list...next Monday for me. I am quite happy to share my birth month with such a
distinguished crowd of rowdies. :D
One of my Red Mage Musings discussed the importance of our collective astrological signs (Fire Signs) and philosophizing on whether it plays a role on our color selection, playing style, and bond of brotherhood within Magic :The Gathering.

For example, I am a Sagittarius, a Fire sign, and the "Universal Friend" to all signs. I'm energetic, passionate, and aggressively pursue whatever I feel like setting my sights on.

I never said double strike is irrelevant but the primordial hydra doubles each turn giving itself a multiplier and trample when it has 10 or more counters.

[deck]
4 Borderland Ranger
4 Flinthoof Boar
4 Gore-Clan Rampager
4 Gyre Sage
4 Hellrider
4 Strangleroot Geist
4 Thundermaw Hellkite

4 Abundant Growth
4 Mizzium Mortars

3 Kessig Wolf Run
4 Rootbound Crag
4 Stomping Ground
8 Forest
5 Mountain[/deck]

No idea if it is any good, but:
- Some creature based card advantage, through cards like Borderland Ranger and Strangleroot Geist. Thragtusk is a consideration for maindeck or at least the sideboard as well.
- Lots of haste damage; Flinthoof Boar, Hellrider, Strangleroot Geist and Thundermaw Hellkite.

Maybe the 'interesting' part of the deck is the election for Abundant Growth over Arbor Elf. This may just be bad, but it is something I am interested in trying out. There are a few things I like about it:
- it is 'better' mana-fixing than Arbor Elf (can always produce red, arbor elf cannot)
- it is a better top deck late game
- increases the decks
resilience to sweepers
- helps you draw into your winning cards. This is not insignificant because the deck also includes Borderland Ranger and Kessig Wolf Run.

Drawbacks:
- no mana accel
- no interaction with Hellrider

It is possible you want Thragtusk instead of Thundermaw in the 5 spot if your meta is more controlling (Thundermaw can be a bit weak to targeted removal and Azorius Charm) but he is great at racing aggro and amazing at beating down Reanimator. Also, flies over Boros Reckoner.

Not an unreasonable starting place I don't think.

I'm a Capricorn, an Earth sign. Hope that doesn't throw off any calculations. However, depending on your interpretation, I can fall in the cusp between Sagittarious/Capricorn, which is then Fire and Earth.

The description is, largely, accurate. And in a fit of irony, I'm finding myself furiously debating between which commander deck to keep: red burn or a strange green-based g/r/w/u Monk deck.

I would try and squeeze Domri Rade in there because he is decent on creature-centric decks and bonkers against control. My current GR build runs Borderland Ranger and less land (21 land and no Kessig though). Since Domri can hit the Ranger, I had not much problems with hitting my land
drops. I also don't run Hellrider myself. I still run Wolfir Silverheart in my build.

Abudant Growth seems fine to me since it cantrips. The only probably drawback I can think of right now is Acidic Slime sees play.

^I like Domri out of the side for control as well, but he doesn't mesh particularly well with Abundant Growth; he wants to come in with max creatures and a minimum of other cards. I'm not knocking Rade, but playing him in the side would be a reason not to pay AG over the tree-hugger.

Re: Zodiac

Interestingly enough, the Chinese calendar says I'm a Water sign -

"THE WATER DOG 1922 AND 1982

These Dogs have great foresight and are well-educated on many different things. This quality helps them appreciate other points of view, making them quite flexible and liberal. They are easygoing, but this can cause them to be too spendthrift with money and less loyal with friends. Still, because of their flexible natures and their ability to appreciate difference, these Dogs always have friends and are usually popular people."

Also, since I'm born on December 21st, I'm on the cusp of Capricorn, so I guess I also share with an Earth sign, like Helios.

Earth, Water, and Fire. Hmm...I'm just missing Heart and Wind to summon Captain Planet...

I always felt bad for the "heart" kid.

Everyone else could do all kinds of cool shit with their rings - floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, firestorms - and he could... talk to a monkey.

I'm pretty sure he eventually turned to drugs before killing himself. And I'll bet Captain Planet never even noticed...

Same here. I thought i was the only one that felt that way. His power was by far the shittiest but at least he had a monkey he could mind-control. That has to count for something. He probably told it to pick out the seeds from his pot and cut lines out on the mirror during his later years...

They put him in a landfill that Planet vaporized. He only learned of it 10 years later, and turned to a life of narcotics and male prostitution because he couldn't cope.
