I found the ragequit to be rather hilarious, myself. MDU was fortunate to have two Helices in both games, but that's Magic. People take this game way too seriously.
Yeah yeah I agree he was, and he does get lucky sometimes but then... didn't he keep a hand with 2 helix to start? Meh.

Truth is its not even this game, it's just some people hate losing soooo much. its weird, I hear the "deserve to win" argument a lot. I just shrug at it there's no "Deserve" anything. You either win or you don't, sometimes the "don't" is luck. Sometimes its variance, but I remember someone writing the red deck doesn't make excuses it says If i have mountains and spells you cannot win. Its wrong a lot but it's right a lot as
well.

I'm super impressed with this burn decks reach. I killed someone on cockatrice from 15 or 16 just now on cockatrice with Yp$ + 1 and Phoenix on the board. The were on naya and had 2 walls and a freakin smiter of all things.
They went to play voice and I went shock, Charm
Upkeep, Magma Jet, bottom chandra ,bottom land. Draw Charm #2
Play mana, Swing, boros charm, skullcrack.

:hi: :flame:

Which was likely wrong but i mean... I felt like I had to kill him before he dropped unflinching courage or something.

aggressive bullshit doesn't make you smart, it makes you an asshole." - Lightning Dolt

You have a hard time believing someone will have a hard time getting an in demand uncommon from their LGS? Your store must be special.

23rd land and throw in Zealots, imo. Cut a shock or chained for the 4th Zealot if you want.

I think he's saying his store doesn't have any. I know the LGSs around me don't because I live in the boonies, but thankfully I had the foresight to buy mine right at release.

I would probably add a 4th Shock, another Mutavault, and maybe 2 Chandra or 2 BlOb (depending on your meta).

Or reconfigure your mana base to run [card]Toil // Trouble[/card] in the main.

I suspect if he had more mutavaults, he'd already be running them but yes, another land. Move the temple of silence maindeck. 11 [mana]w[/mana] is quite nice as is 23 lands. Coming from the guy who tried 22 for way too long. Add a 4th mortar or toil or 24th land to your board.

I'd recommend a couple of Chandra's or bringing the blind obedience main deck or...honestly a lot of this just depends on your meta. Even firedancer is an option in the right meta. Searing blood is nice but it is by no means the cornerstone of the deck. I'd recommend the 4th shock since it's not an awful spell in the shell.

My store is special. It's a brick and mortar store for a very successful online M:TG
store. So, I guess I'm spoiled.

Who's the bitch, now?

edit: but, seriously, TH. Just spend the couple of bucks and order them.

Yeah, neither of the ones in my area are that successful so I generally have to get my core cards online.

Though to answer your exact question, which of our places of residence is being stampeded this very second by an angry horde of rhinos?

Anyone playing black for cards other than Toil // Trouble? Quite a few spicy cards out there if you're willing to forgo Mutavaults.

He's attached to Mutavault, but with good reason. It's arguably the best card in the deck in all but one matchup (mirror). That said, Rakdos's Return is a very enticing spell to put in the 75. It absolutely wrecks in the mirror. The Esper control matchup is already highly favorable so you wouldn't include it just to improve that matchup, but if you expect a lot of burn, I wouldn't hate finding a way to put Rakdos's Return in the board. The issue there isn't just the mana requirements but also that Peak Eruption is almost as good and doesn't require black mana.

Yes, let's discuss substantially reducing the power of the main deck to bring in sideboard cards for 1 matchup, which is already favourable.

Has it been tested? Have you tested it? If I recall correctly, the topic of creatureless (and hence Mutavaultless) burn has come up and was discarded without testing. Yeah, it's a nice land; I've ran the lists with 3-4, and it's really powerful. How do we know that truly blanking removal isn't a decent (good?) plan? It's just an idea, and it may (or may not be)
suboptimal, but it merits testing.

I never mentioned what main deck or sideboard options could be contenders.

I have tested creatureless and it wasn't good ~ have you? You weren't suggesting creatureless anyway so don't try to back door into that as an excuse.

List the cards you're considering and why, instead of being deliberately vague.

I wasn't really even suggesting anything. I was just asking if people found any useful black cards that could be played in this deck.

That aside, I do want to try Rwb burn with only Chandra's Phoenixes (or no creatures/permanents). I don't play often, so I'd like to hear from experience from people around here.

I have played a little bit with 0 creatures and currently have Toil + Phoenix list together that I posted before without Mutavaults for color reasons.

But, some powerful black cards are: Rakdos's Return, Rakdos Charm, Duress, Thoughtseize, Dreadbore, Erebos, God of the Dead, Mogis, God of Slaughter, Sin Collector, Blood Baron of Vizkopa, Dark Betrayal, Spike Jester. Not sure which are splashable or worthy of the splash, but like I said there are some spicy options.

Just an exhaustive list of cards that can be played on 10-12 sources. I'm not trying to be crazy or anything, but we can't let the list stagnate while the metagame develops around us. Are none of those cards worth consideration?

Dark Betrayal was splashed by some control decks off of fewer black sources, but in my opinion doesn't even come close to warranting inclusion.

Thanks. We already have 1-mana terminate in our colors, so obviously Dark Betrayal shouldn't be in the deck. I just named powerful black cards.

You are naming powerful cards but before just throwing ideas out there think as to why or if they even apply to being in the deck. Rakdos Return is the only card out of all the cards you have listed that have any remote chance of seeing play in a burn deck. While all the other cards you listed are powerful they don't fit with the overall game plan of the deck.

I'm not against new ideas and neither are others but what a majority of people are against is throwing out untested ideas that have no data or don't take into consideration as to what the goal of the deck is or the deck's function.

Right, and I agree. I asked if anybody had tried any actual black cards in the deck. So has anyone? What changes have we all made to our decks this week? How can we adapt the deck to increase our winrates against UW Devotion, MBD, Esper--the good decks--and burn (the popular deck)?

Current metagame: 25% MBD, 8% Burn, 8% Esper, 6% MUD, rest <5% each.
