This was a bit more interesting: http://www.starcitygames.com/article/29 ... Folks.html

A couple of Prophetic Flamespeakers in the sideboard might indeed be a good idea.

I dont like rabblemaster, but I will try phophetic flamespeaker. I'm not a good player, I will say that right off the bat; but I have spent hundreds of hours playing this deck on MODO. And I have been playing it on paper twice a week at my gameshop for the past two/three weeks. First I played a cut-throat version with 17 lands and stayr hoplite, cutting out hordeling outburst and hall of triumph and arena athlete.

After a few days I went back to Tom Ross's list and stuck too it. I wish there was footage of Tom ross playing this deck in Louisiana. The Sequencing of this deck is driving me bannanas. I see a lot of discussion on different builds, I think we should we should work together to be discussing what we are dropping and pumping turns 1-4. Are you dropping hammerhand when there are no blockers? Are you pumping with titan strength out of greed? Are you salty because you played denizen turn one, when dropping monastery swiftspear would have been the better choice? The struggle is real, but bearable.

Trying to play around board swipe, is 50/50 in my opinion. If you want to raise your cortisol levels go ahead save that satyr firedancer with hammer hand or whatever, I on the other hand go balls to the wall all 2/3 games. By the time they boardswipe me and they are at 1-3 life, they have enough board prescence and mana to come back up for the win, while leaving me waiting to topdeck hero, fuck that

You have more experience with the deck than me then. I don't have the opportunity to go to the shop each week, I have no testing buddies, and I don't play online. So any info is good info for me.

Sequencing during turn 1-4 is everything with this deck. I had some games at the GP where I afterwards know that I should have played out my hand differently. Sometimes I rushed things. I mean, T1 Akroan Crusader into T2 Monastery Swiftspear + Titan's Strength on the Crusader is 7 damage on turn two, but is it wise to waste the TS just form that? Sometimes I played it safe. At least once I played more creatures even though I suspected a sweeper next turn, just because I went greedy (what if he hadn't that sweeper?).

So perhaps we should focus on some turn 1-4 play discussions? Let's assume we use Tom Ross' list and just take a sample hand and see how we'd play it against some of the most common decks?

Is 23 creatures really reasonable? I'd much rather have like the 12 good pump spells, 0 burn, and a lot more creatures.

23 is more than most Boss Sligh is running and approximately the same number as any other Red Aggro deck before.

To me, if you're not going to run burn, you might as well run UW Heroic - you'd get better creatures and arguably better Heroic enablers that way.

I would play the deck, but I haven't been able to play since GP Stockholm, and probably won't go to any Standard events for a while either... :(

So I can't give any good and proven lists. I'd probably just look at whatever placed high in any recent events and go with that.

Redthirst's deck above looks sweet.

I wouldn't call what I've been doing heavy playing, but the deck runs over everything I play it against regularly. The 60 main is strong, but the SB could probably use a little work.

How strong is satyr hoplite compared to hordling outburst? Do you like coordinated assault that much?

Satyr Hoplite has the benefit of having a ton of synergy with all your pump spells and is always able to be cast. Not running Outburst allows me to run one less land while pretty much never having dead cards in my hand. It's also another creature that can kill a Caryatid on turn 2 with a Coordinated Assault - which is always big money.

Big fan of Coordinated Assault - it's regularly 3-4 extra damage and is a blowout against other creature decks.

Dasher Red Aggro

Postby shortcutter » Sun Nov 16, 2014 6:06 pm

Going to give this list a shot this next weekend:

[deck]Dasher Red Aggro[/deck]

I'm still not sold on Prophetic Flamespeaker and Searing Blood in the sideboard. I do like the 3 Magma Spray, 3 Peak Eruption and 2 Shatter (for Whip). Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot LP. I was curious if Todd Anderson abandon Rabble or not. In the begin of the season he made some videos and some articles with a red agroo deck close to that list.

FYI, here's what BradPitKeeper ran to a 7-1 finish at the last Standard MOCS. Not really Boss Sligh, but I'll post it here anyway...

[deck]
Creatures (16)
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Valley Dasher
4 Goblin Rabblemaster

Spells (22)
4 Hordeling Outburst
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
4 Stoke the Flames
2 Searing Blood
4 Titan's Strength

Lands (22)
22 Mountain

Sideboard (15)
3 Temple of Triumph
4 Sarkhan, Dragonspeaker
3 Chandra, Pyromaster
3 Arc Lightning
2 Searing Blood
[/deck]

The Sideboard is almost funny...

[deck]
4 Akroan Crusader
4 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Satyr Hoplite
2 Frenzied Goblin

4 Titan's Strength
4 Hammerhand
4 Stoke the Flames
4 Collateral Damage
2 Coordinated Assault
2 Dragon Mantle

10 Mountain
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Bloodstained Mire
[/deck]

[deck]
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
4 Searing Blood
3 Mardu Scout
3 Wild Slash
1 Mountain
[/deck]

Went 5-2 at my last PTQ, losing a game 3 of a match where I simply played too greedy instead of holding up mana for Collateral Damage to save my Akroan Crusaders from Bile Blight. This deck largely remains unchanged every new set, but Collateral Damage is just huge. More reach, saves duplicates from Bile Blight, makes Drown in Sorrow hurt a little less. I think this only needs a little more work to take down a big event, and I've been working on some changes all week in preparation for SCG Regionals.

Currently testing with these changes, for added reach; -2 Dragon Mantle, -2 Satyr Hoplite, +4 Lightning Strike. Dragon Mantle doesn't seem so hot lately, from my personal experiences with the card. Satry Hoplite is also just the weakest creature in the deck.

I'm also trying to tune the Sideboard some. EotgR performed, as it always has. Searing Blood and Wild Slash were crucial in Aggro mirrors. Mardu Scout seemed alright, but I didn't get him in my hand often enough to come to a solid conclusion. There was a game I remember where I had a FSD out and simply dashed a Scout every turn until he removed one of them.

My local pool of testing partners isn't too bad, but none of them have any experience playing Red at all. Need help with possible deck changes, sideboarding guides, stuff like that. Even minor suggestions that provoke thought and discussion about particular lines of play. Anything to improve my chances of Top 8'ing tomorrow.
Posting this here as well. Hadn't noticed that this got moved into Competitive yet.

Jasper,

Did you try any number of Humble Defectors? I've been playing nothing but limited for the past few months but I was going to play a standard event next weekend. I'll either play a deck similar to yours but I am planning to go with Humble Defector (3 or 4) and 2 Searing Blood in the main...

I just won't have much time to test. Language study is kicking my butt.

4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Goblin Rabblemaster
4 Mardu Scout
4 Monastery Swiftspear

2 Lightning Strike
3 Searing Blood

3 Wild Slash
4 Hordeling Outburst
2 Outpost Siege

22 Mountain

SIDEBOARD:
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
1 Purphoros, God of the Forge
1 Searing Blood
1 Wild Slash
2 Peak Eruption
2 Scouring Sands

Why should we keep in all searing blood and 2 wild slashes against abzan midrange? isn't it better to just keep the denizens in ?

You're not realistically killing them with creature agro through drown in sorrow(which denizen makes you overcommit into) so you want burn in your deck to be able to burn them out.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Does the deck not just fold to turn 4 rhino into whip? It has so many extra lands and the starts arent amazing explosive most of the time.

This is what I'm on right now after spending my time on Jeskai since rotion, I have been longing for my little red creatures and fast games!

I'v cut the Hammerhands and Titan's Strength to avoid any 2 for 1 and I'm just focusing on creatures and burn. Goblinslide is a real gem in this deck providing a lot of free dudes against the slower decks and is just insain against any control deck where you just burn them and get free goblins. Collateral Damage is super solid against opponenets with lifelink as I just sac the creaturs they are fighting to prevent lifegain and it's also a good counter to Bile Blight whenever they try to clear out several of the goblins. The dash creatures are great against any deck with sorcery speed sweepers as since you don't need to over commit to the board.

Any red deck not running Outpost Siege is doing it wrong.
