I tend to be very selective of anime, I hate most of them, but there are a few I like. Like any other style or genre, some of it's good, some is bad. And I can even admit that some of the ones I like are crap. Soul Eater is crap, but I really like it. Mobile Suit Gundam however is the real deal, if you haven't seen it you should rectify that. And no one I know of has ever seen cowboy bebop and not enjoyed it. Even my dad who by and large hates anime, agreed that, while we wouldn't watch it on his own, it was really good (then a week later I couldn't find my bebop dvds and they were in his room and the movie was in his dvd player)

The reason you rarely see burn in the higher rounds of a legacy event is because most pros would rather play something that lets them show off their skills, where as much of burn's game plan is pretty much decided by what you draw no surprises, there is some issue with sequencing, but
beyond that it's very much decided for you. It's a better deck than it's tournament appearances would indicate, but high level players almost universally dislike playing it. I am not a high level player, I will take the deck that leverages out my lower play skill happily, add to that burn is fairly cheap compared to the stuff you Z and others playing. Combine this with the fact that lots of low level players have realized the same thing and you can begin to see why those without byes fear it intensely. The issue becomes "what if one sneaks up to where you start"? Lots of people working byes are going to have the same idea that Z does, but if lots of people run decks over which burn runs roughshod there could be some serious problems. Also burn is not completely dead to sneak and show. Sneak attack can be needled, and reb counters show and tell, so it has answer, just not reliable ones.

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

Also Ive been enjoying DnD far more than I thought I would..

my rationale is that it's better than an MMO for RPG wants

another caveat is we skip most of the technical bs of combat for smoother fun

and no Im not a barbarian you stereotyping fucks...

Open up a bit. I used to think this way and I realized I was just embarassed of my own hobbies for no particular reason. If you like it, it's not bad. "Guilty pleasures" shouldn't be a thing, in my opinion. Own the shit you like.

I did not discover anime till college (exposure). Thought it was dumb. The only close thing I like was Avatar the Last Airbender and legend of Korra. They look kind of close?

My friends tried to get me into it but I just had no interest. Marvel and DC I watch religously, but stuff like Full Metal...I am not sure the of the last word in the title...are not my thing. I grew up on Military shows like Black Sheep Squadren, Combat, X-Files, Stargate SG-1, and other non-anime stuff. The thing about anime that pisses me off are the stupid weapons. No one can weild a weapon that improbable except redthirst.

@Fate: What edition? I learned playing 3.0/3.5 that monks sucked big time. Or perhaps it was just mine...
not sure, whatever version this is: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/classes.html

I found some guide for building monks that said "people think monk's suck because they try to build them with wisdom and shit to compensate for their low AC"

I went full strength and have been punching the literal shit out of zombies ghouls and cult leaders. I get beat up sometimes but thats what nuwen's for

Pathfinder could be considered 3.75. It's probably better than 3.0/3.5. I remember now that my monk was 3.0 and that
the 3.5 was a lot better, but we didn't convert our characters to 3.5.

Yeah, my build was a high wisdom build...might have been the reason to why it sucked.

I'm a big anime fan. The unrealistic shit is why I watch any television. Despite being in the military, I'm not a gun nut at all so the face vs. real thing gets a resounding "meh" from me.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I'm also of the opinion that anime isn't a thing to be "understood". It's just another medium of entertainment. My father just watches anime because it reminds him of comics and he likes the art. If you think anime is stupid, you either just haven't seen anything you've liked or are likely not into animation.

I think "i don't understand" is probably the wrong terminology. I guess I just don't get a lot of the anime that I've seen. Most of what I've been exposed to has been overly sexualized and/or overly melodramatic. Both of those things seem too easy to accomplish and therefore the only appeal is the artwork itself.

That said, I really liked Cowboy Bebop when it was on Adult Swim about 10 years ago. I
haven't watch Adult Swim in about that long, though, so don't know if it's still on or what has replaced it.

But that's space cowboy stuff. I eat that shit up.

Last anime I really liked was Gurren Lagann. Not tOo big into Anime but I don't shy away from it. I love animation as a whole. Miyazaki films are the shit.

Haven't played D&D in about a year. Last time I played I was a Mageblade and just tanked the shit out of stuff.

This is what anime/manga is to me as well. Just another medium of entertainment. If I think I'll enjoy a movie or similar, then I'll watch it, but I don't seek it out either. I've enjoyed most Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki movies I've seen.

Like any entertainment medium it's mostly bad with a few standouts. Anyone want to argue that most movies, television or music are not bad?

I probably like 1 in 4 anime I watch, but I still "like anime". Conversely I like about 1/50 things on TV...

So yeah, as Kaze-ani says, get the fuck out haters.

Still, no time to get into something new. I'm only just now watching Season 1 of The Walking Dead.

This seriously is one of my favorite anime scenes ever. In an anime that's been 99% diluted for the five-year-old-Americans that get targeted by most of Funimation's rehashings, an antagonist finally has the idea of just punching someone straight in the dick. I saw this movie when I was like 12 and it was the best thing ever.

I'm not much into anime, probably because I'm not huge on television in general, but I will read decent manga. I have a bunch of complete series on my book shelves, including but not limited to Ruroni Kenshin, MARS, Hot Gimmick, GTO, Ranma, etc.
