Nah, not really. It's more of a combination of that thread and the pyroblack arguments just setting me on edge. And I'm also still kinda sick, so I'm just cranky@ Raida, Sorry if I came off as a dick in the other thread. I didn't mean to.

I, for one, would like to welcome our new firebreathing narwhal overlords.

Mostly just follow MODO tbh. I think technical skill is the best thing you can bring to an event unless you actually come across a brilliant list. You're in Japan though, can you really ever predict the Japanese meta?People with GP success, how deep do you go on your meta prediction?
Nope.

Funny you say that. My other hobby is cars lol.Yeah, You have an uphill battle. 40k army hobby...please...try tatical gun and gear collecting. New shit keeps coming out that is EXSPENSIVE and to good to not use. The only thing worse in my opion is classic cars. Seen that hobby in action, and wow, money just blows out the window in buckets. You're waaaaaaaaaaaaay closer than I am to finishing the deck. I need three Remand, two Cryptic Command, 4 Scalding Tarn, 4 Misty Rainforest, 4 Splinter Twin...I have everything except 3 Scalding Tarn...$150...at least?I'm actually in the process of building Tempo Twin for Modern. I like that it's a combo deck that can win without the combo, and it runs red, plus it runs Snapcaster Mage (which I already have a playset of). When I was able to trade my Thassa for Kiki-Jiki Friday that pretty
much sealed the deal.![]()
They...they...could get reprinted...and...and...I would want to hang myself!
Yeah, it's going to be awhile LOL. I'll just get by with Sulfur Falls for my manabase to start out, so dropping ~$120 on the rest to at least be able to pilot the deck at FNM. I'm trying to sell my playset of Goryo's Vengeance for $40 to offset some of the cost, and if I'm able to sell my Warhammer 40K army I'll have enough to buy the rest.
Of course, I made the mistake of looking at my 40k army last night and got the feels. Damn it! But I have
no time for more than 2-3 hobbies anymore, so I might as well put all my eggs in a couple of baskets.
I knew Misty Rainforest (and the GB one) was going to be a big hit cause of Tarmogoyf + Counter spells, and bought all of them except Scalding Tarns. I never used Blue + Red decks except Painters Servant + Grindstone and that was before Scalding Tarns came out. I got all the rest for cheap on rotation (RW and BW) for around $9 a piece.
I play Jund and SplinterTwin was easily defeated by my deck. I don't know how people keep losing?![]()
Killing their combo is easy when I run tons of discard and
kill. It's shit like Eggs, Mindslaver, Karn, Maze's End (standard only), and sometimes Scapeshift that piss me off. I have only played against Soul Sistes once and the dude that was playing was high, thus I find my expieriance against it was not adaquite for a good call of annoyance (beat it 2-0).
If Sulfuric Vortex was reprinted for modern; Soul Sister would not be an issue. Did I just make the Red Mages Horny?

That's the nextI have a gun (I may be a politically progressive, socially accepting, cuddly when drunk homosexual, but i'm still 'murican dammit). Sadly it's my parent's house and not with me, mostly because I have no where to put it, and have had zero pistol practice since I got out of the military. Rifle time certainly, and one afternoon with a shotgun, 24 shells, and some liquor bottles. I should actually get off my but and look into getting a conceal carry permit.< three stripe purple belt in jiu-jitsu.
Oh, the ways I have hurt people.
step for me. My father-in-law keeps urging me to get mine. I just need to find a pistol that I'm comfortable with. I figure since he has multiple types and calibers of pistols that I'll try several and see which one I like best. After that, I'll take the class and buy the gun.

The "I'm not racist - I just don't like black people" thing is just about a cliche in the SE.
If you can't get out of a fight, aim for the most vulnerable areas: crotch, throat, eyes. Punching someone in the face may be satisfying, but it's incredibly stupid.
DS, step up your game. Kaze is out-gaying you at every turn.
Windstrider: Anything in particular you know you want out of a CCW? Things like what you'll wear while carrying, your size, experience, etc. are all important to know. Guns that are incredibly comfortable to shoot are often incredibly uncomfortable to carry and there's a saying we CC gun nuts often live by: "When you really need a gun, the .22 in your pocket does you a lot more good than the .45 you left at home."

@Redthirst - I've been thinking about that as well, which is why I want to try carrying the different types in what I'll usually be wearing. I can't bring the gun into the building with me since school policy forbids it, but I can keep it in my car. I'm more worried about traveling with the family, but I do want it in case the crazy ramps up again with my ex since she knows where I work.
As for size, experience, etc., I'm just a shade over 6', fairly large hands, slim build, with very little experience with handguns. I'm more experienced with small caliber rifles, but I haven't shot in several years.

Since you have a build similar to mine, I'd suggest you start looking at the single stack 9mm/.40cal as a good carry weapon. I've been carrying for almost 10 years and I've gone through a lot of handguns that were either
1. Comfortable to shoot, but impractical to carry (1911, Glock, .357)
2. Practical to carry, but uncomfortable to shoot (small frame .38, Beretta .22)
3. Uncomfortable to shoot and impractical to carry (.44 mag - my first gun - good if you fear being mugged by a grizzly bear)
before I settled on the 9mm M&P Shield which I carry nearly every day. It's very comfortable to shoot and fits and points naturally in the hand and I've got an in-the-wasteband Bladetech holster that keeps it concealed comfortably in pretty much anything - including shorts and a t-shirt.

If you happen to find a playset let me know and maybe we can work something out. Also are remands worth money? If so I can probably dig up 8-10 from all of the ravnica limited I played back in the day.

Sorry I'm late to the discussion, but Alex, what do you think you'd have lost if you just walked up to the car's driver, politely told him there were kids in a car near him, and asked him to turn down or off his music?
My policy: always let people do the right thing first. I know this guy fit every profile that you've described, but that doesn't mean he's going to start a fight with you just because you asked him a question in a polite way. But going into someone else's property and acting like it's yours without saying anything? That's just asking for trouble. Especially since it's in front of his girl - now you've emasculated him without need.
EDIT: And before the inevitable "you've obviously never spent much time around XYZ" comment, I'll debunk it. There are some incredibly rough neighborhoods in Boston - white, black, latino, asian, etc. - and I've spent a good amount of time in a few
of them. I still find that if you engage someone on a human level you're likely to get what you want.

Redthirst has some great points. May I reccomend a few precursor steps?Since you have a build similar to mine, I'd suggest you start looking at the single stack 9mm/.40cal as a good carry weapon. I've been carrying for almost 10 years and I've gone through a lot of handguns that were either

before I settled on the 9mm M&P Shield which I carry nearly every day. It's very comfortable to shoot and fits and points naturally in the hand and I've got an in-the-wasteband Bladetech holster that keeps it concealed comfortably in pretty much
anything - including shorts and a t-shirt.
1. go to a gun show. Good sized one. Look and fondle every handgun. Your hands will tell you more than your eyes cause your eyes will lie. Magazine capacity should not be a deciding factor in buying a CCW. You will only get 1-2 shots off at most in an event. Thus I find a one hit kill very important. Looking at your picture, you have many options for carrying, thus size matters only slightly.
2. Companies make slim versions or officer model type versions of full size models. I don't like Glock cause of slide burn on large frame hands. The 1911 is large, but you can get an officers model that is much smaller. Kahr is a great choice as it has NO safety and is designed for slim carry (use one myself, .45). You will need to train with it. I can help you with that, and it is easy. Don't be afraid of large or medium frame guns. You do live in a colder environment than Me (TX)
thus you options for carry are greater with more clothes to work with than I in summer.
3. The calliber. 9mm is as low as you should go. .22 is great but it can be ignored if shot is not dropping the target. .22mag,

4. How to carry. 5.11 sells a holster shirt I use when it's cold and works for small frame guns (look it up on 5.11 website). There are companies that
sell a holster that look like this: The pouch on the top is a cell phone holster and now looks "normal" in the pants. I wear 5.11 taclite pro pants with it cause you need the room. What it would like in the pants and its extremely hard to notice from the outside: Another simple holster is this. My dad made it custom for me and you might look up saddle shops in your area for getting one made. I wear it with a vest or light wind jacket. Here is a holster I had made by Alamo Tactical in San Antonio, Texas. It is called the minimalist holster. I wear it outside around the house or when I carry the gun in a bag to protect the trigger (safety percuasion). Buying a gun for
CCW is like picking a sword. Being cheap on price can get you into alot of trouble, thus go to at least 3-4 gun shows before buying and picking a weapon. Go to Buds Gun Shop, gun broker, and Guns america online to research prices cause you can get hozed in cost. If you need more info or opinion; ask me. I do this as a job for rich nuubs and make damn good money for it.

I've had a 1g DSM for a couple of years but progress met a screeching halt after the birth of my twins. I'm trying to finish it up before my third arrives in March but it won't be anywhere near what I wanted it to be. Due to my limited time these days I'm considering selling it once I get it road worthy and getting a fun car I don't have to worry about working on for the next few years. I'm quite fond of the FR-S despite the lack of straight line acceleration. I also really like the new Mustang even though I'm typically averse to muscle cars. I'll have to test drive it when it hits the lots to see if it's the real deal.Funny you say that. My taste in cars is relatively inexpensive. For example, my dream car is a refinished and updated Jeep J-10. Too bad good ones are so hard to find and I know about zip when it comes to working on cars so I can't do any of the work myself.
