With regards to booze, it's been my experience that Taco Bell does nothing more than retain most of its flavour on the way back up.

Raida if you change your custom title to "Summon Narwhal" I'll be the happiest carbon-based meatbag around.

@mdu, I love you but you jumped like that too, though when I went to dos rakis, you went to pyroflight, so... ;P Nah, sarcasm aside it is true, but I just find different decks interesting, or switch for metagame reasons... I shouldn't, but I also just like trying 'new' decks, since I get experience with several different lists/styles...

@Darthstabber, I actually spent about a year straight only drafting at fnms and all that, before I got to the point where I felt good enough to try and grind my way up the standard constructed format starting last standard season (inn/rtr). Also have thought of picking up that book before, but never did. Might if it's actually good.

@Kaze, was thinking of making it kinda like a creature subtype line. So far I'm an "Orgg-Narwhal-e.e" :P

I have never thrown up on taco bell unless I have drunk more than a fifth, and if have put away a full bottle of jack I deserve to puke.

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

@raida: the honest to purphoros truth is that the best way to become a better player is limited. If you can't draft with confidence you need to keep drafting. Drafting is the most skill intensive format and doing it a lot will help almost every aspect of your play. It may sound silly if you are seeking to be the best standard player you can be, but a single draft does more to elevate you than 2-4 standard events.
Limited and Constructed are two completely different animals, just look at the top200 on MTGO the guys who are in the top200 in limited are not the same people in top200 of constructed.

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE limited and I agree its very skill intensive - but imho to get better at
constructed you just need to play more constructed, learning the meta, exploiting weaknesses reading hands and so on.
I'm on MTGO, I can play much more frequently against a diverse field - I'm also usually playing decks by my own designed so I know the reasoning behind the choices which makes sequencing much easier.

IRL this is much harder to do so I'll recommend taking decks which your comfortable with.

I don't play limited. I mostly learned to play from reading articles.

Limited is sure a good way to learn and improve your playskills... plus drafts are very funny so i tend to do them when i can.
Yesterday i won a modern FNM with goblins ! It's silly to beat three times affinity, then B/W tokens, Merfolk and Splinter Twin with a deck that costs nothing (except for cavern of souls and mutavault). Of course , everyone was angry.
I like beer more than wine. Everytime i get drunk is because i drink 2 litres or more of beer. That said, wine is an acceptable substitute and you can get drunk more easily if you want... luckily i am stiil 23 years old so i can still enjoy my addictions without too much consequences.... for some years again, i suppose.
On another note, i just noticed the sexual exhibition aspect of this clan , so i feel obliged to say that i have a big penis. Just saying, not to challenge the older giant-sized clan members.
Maybe i should write wiser posts, but i tend to tell
everything that comes to my mind and answer all i read in the previous posts XD

GoblinWarchief- there's a certain etiquette when it comes to discussion, showing, or participantig in a dick-showing pageant: only show enough to win. Well, unless you're against redthirst. In that case, you've already lost.

Well, I had the 'old' pyrodragons before skynights and mdu's boros aggro and all that, and played that list a lot. After that I transitioned to the boros aggro, which was a natural feeling transition, and just yesterday got dos rakis.

So I haven't really been switching all that much... I dunno... I'm just frustrated I guess...

Also, the worst feeling part is that I couldn't identify any mistakes. I replayed each and evey game in my head, and I honestly don't know what went wrong. At least if I made a mistake, it'd be a lesson... Anybody else ever feel that way?
Yes Raida! Most/all of us feel/have felt that way!

You need to find your own style and preferences and develop a winning mindset which takes time - practice and patience
are the key words here :)

Reviewing games is good BUT the disadvantage is that you are limited by your own ability to what plays you can see. The BEST way to improve is to play with better players who are happy to talk through play options with you. I used to play IRL and got pretty good (multiple PTQ qualifications, 1900+ Constructed Ranking) and I did this by playing a lot with a really good player. We tested a lot with our hands up and discussed plays, swapped decks in testing to see things from both sides of the table and slowly but surely I got better, the 'correct' plays became second nature to me. This took time, well over a year (and bear in mind I had been playing for a few years before this). The best substitute for this is to record your games and get them on YouTube. Don't dismiss this and say you have no money - you found a way to get all the cards you needed despite being a poor student FIND a way! Record on your phone, buy a spy cam, do WHATEVER it takes!

Developing a winning mindset is the single most important factor IMHO. I found that the better players 'made their own luck'. They seldom made mistakes and the end result of solid play is that you get into a positive loop and start to expect to get the cards you need.I often see you posting in a panic about what is the right choice of deck/card/SB option. You cannot cover everything. The better players know this and accept it. Zem has posted about it on here, repeatedly. No-one likes to lose to 'bad' decks BUT that is part of MTG, people get their fun in different ways and sometimes you just lose to a 'bad' deck that is say designed just to beat Red. How you react to the loss in important. If you tilt (I do this nearly all the time currently) you will miss obvious plays and expect to lose and your matches become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you accept it, with NO
EMOTION and play the next game you are well on your way to becoming a good player.

Playing the same deck is solid advice. I don't mean for a week or a few months, try a full season; F.I.A is still playing MonoRed Pyro on MTGO (well he was when I last spoke to him a couple of weeks ago) and is still at a 74.9% win rate. He knows his deck inside out, he has played it through all the meta changes on MTGO. BUT MDU has a different strategy which works for him. He tweaks according to the meta but it has taken him time to get to this level of skill. I personally play a deck which I know is strong and has seen results (generally MDU has piloted it) so when I get worse results (which I generally do) I know this is down to variance or lack of play skill; currently it is primarily a lack of play skill. If I think I see a tweak which will improve a deck I post it and explain why and get feedback.

The environment here is incredibly positive and supportive (incredibly so!) so hang in
there, remain calm and focused and you will make progress :)
