For those that don't like tea, give Pu-erh a try. I'd never had it before last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised. It can be expensive though.

I'll drink coffee all day and not eat anything if I'm not conscious of what I'm doing. Especially in the winter. Which is extra bad because winters around here are dry enough to turn you to stone. So I'm trying to force myself into an awareness of what I'm drinking, trying not to drink coffee after 10AM and to drink a certain amount of water every day.

Is yours a stand-alone or in a store? Mine's the latter. Idk if that's the reason but I know we have to abide to the store's rules above all else etc.

Stand alone. Normally if your sbux is inside another store the store
operates the starbucks and pretty much is given the okay to use starbucks products but Starbucks does not have to pay for labor or do the hiring. So the workers don't really work for sbux but instead work for the store it is inside. The store can do whatever they want with the hours, pay, and general rules.

I may be turning in my man card for saying this, but V8 is probably the best thing I ever could've started drinking. Because of this, I've actually cut back on a lot of things: milk, beer, coffee, and iced tea. It's not even a conscious thing - my body would just prefer the V8 and then some water.

On to something unrelated: my dad is in a little country/southern rock band and he has a gig at some bar this Sunday. He's invited me to come sit in with the band for some jams and stuff and I'm really excited about that. I just picked up 3 sets of strings, some new picks, a giant pack of 9-Volts (gotta love working at Sam's Club), and some contact cleaner to clean up my volume and tone pots (that scratchy sound is worse than nails on a chalkboard!). I've never had to clean my pots and knobs before, so this should be interesting...

I want to start a development program for the younger (or young at heart) players in the clan.

In my mind (I need to sit down and work out the specifics) it's going to be 8 weeks, focussing on things like:
- deck building basics
- deck building advanced
- sequencing plays
- hand reading / playing around cards
- sideboarding

Each week would have some notes (prepared by me) for duscussion, some examples to consider and some further reading.

If that sounds like something you'd like to be part of, get at me in my PM box.

I'm thinking I'll write 800-1000 words plus assign some reading at the start of the week then we'll do an open discussion / Q&A at the end of the week.

I've always found making the sideboard to be much less difficult than actually deciding which cards to bring out/in for game 2 and 3.

Then you've made your sideboard incorrectly. The hard part of designing a sideboard is making it so that this doesn't happen often.

I think we're talking about different formats. At least in Legacy, I've often had trouble deciding whether my discard spells or my Pithing Needles would be more appropriate.

I haven't played much Legacy, but yeah, the meta is much more diverse so it's harder to get to know every match-up. Although, if you have both of those things in your deck and feel that you want both, but don't want to cut other stuff, the match-up (vs control, I'm guessing) is probably already favorable.

If you don't know what comes out and what goes in, then you're either not sure of your role in the matchup OR, in the alternative, you've not built your deck as a cohesive 75 card unit and you've fallen into the common error of filling you SB with good cards, as opposed to cards that fit a cohesive post board strategy.

DONT FRET!

This is very common.

Remember this question for when we cover sideboarding so that you can remind me to cover it in more detail.

To be fair, one of the first lessons we're taught is the distinction between good cards and bad cards, so it would only make sense to fill your sideboard with a bunch of "good cards". They're good right?

I just want to know one thing:

Who would eat 36 bag lunches!?

And in other news: restringing my guitar, cleaning the neck, polishing the knobs (giggity), cleaning crevices with contact cleaner, and changing batteries in my pickups and stomp boxes was deceptively fast and easy. Fast forward to the rig setup and I got lost for about an hour and half jamming on Iron Maiden and old Metallica. Who knew that jamming on Am I Evil at teeth-rattling decibels could be the best therapy session one could ever have?

Behold, the beast!

Absolutely on target, but a good card isn't good unless it fits into a particular strategy. That's a fairly important distinction that I've begun to appreciate.

Sometimes, a "bad" card is what is need to fill a particular role. For example, Rod of Ruin found its way into the Pyro lists earlier in the season to counter Master of Waves. In other situations, Rod is certainly not an ideal card, but it was good in that context.
