What don't you like about it? Is it just the fact that it doesn't do anything until really late?

I'm kind of a fan of "I win" buttons, so I play 2. The deck has a lot more flex slots than most.

UR Delver decks are all about gaining small edges with cheap counters and some efficient creatures. Pike is win-more, and you're likely winning already if your Delver/YP$ is connecting in combat unopposed. The 4 mana that you spend to play and equip it will give your opponent a window to kill your relatively fragile win conditions.

But sometimes Pike is an oops-I-win, so #yolo

Except sometimes it's not. Sometimes you both end up hellbent after you finish up a counter war with your snapcaster on the battlefield, so that accelerated clock is really important. Other times you have a pike out, 11 instants and sorceries in your yard and 9 creatures left in your deck, and if your opponent is out of resources, the game is over when you draw that creature.

...shit, I guess it's just a wannabe manland.

It's a late-game card. It's REALLY good against UWR control because short of countering it or bouncing it with Cryptic they have no way of interacting with it, so every creature you play or create is a must-answer. This allows you to actually play the control role in the matchup (counterintuitive, but it works).

I do think Grim Lavamancer is the better all-around
card though. I'd just not run it without at least four fetches.

I'm working on possibly borrowing fetches. If I do, I'll be playing Grim $-mancer

Though that won't happen, because they won't do 15 rare CIPT duals for Standard.

That's interesting, actually. I'm not sure if I'd play it over Mutavault (entering untapped is probably better than tapping for two colors), but a R/W Ghitu Encampment with haste or vigilance added would probably be reasonable.

Mostly I'd just love a RW dual for my Modern deck, because I'm prone to flooding on 24/25 land. Even if it was wimpy, it would be better than another Clifftop Retreat.

Burpees are pure evil. I couldn't complete my workout yesterday, which included a 10-1 reverse pyramid of burpees.

The term Burpee gives me flashbacks...along with anything exercise related.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

Didn't had access to internet for a longer while. I also had to deal with stuff. Broke up with girlfriend just for an example. Weird shit, weird times.
I'm totally off MTG now, so consider me to be mostly a companion for a dick paegantry.

Oh, and even as a fan of ERB I have to say this shit is next level.
