UR Ensoul/Inspired Tempo [POST ROTATION]

Postby zenbitz » Fri Sep 12, 2014 9:28 pm

[deck]2-for-1ing yourself[/deck]

Idea is to just land a T2/T3 5/5 and protect it. With 4/4 flyer as a back up plan
Sideboard is not totally random with some anti-aggro and anti-control packages (note: same CMC for disciple).

Also thinking about UW
version with Heliod's Pilgrim as extra ensouls+ Gods' Willing + exile removal and someone else pointed out there is a 3+ card infinite combo with:
Midnight Guard
Altar of the Brood
Retraction Helix
0 mana artifact

My attempts to make a UR version haven't been satisfactory (although I have considered just running a shrapnel blast or too off of confluence and drum), and you really ought to stick to 2 colors with Darksteel Citadel.

Bump. Another modification of this shell is Dakra Mystic, Jace, The Living Guildpact and Dig Through Time

Question for you lots which is better in the current Metagame:

[deck]UR Robots[/deck]

vs

[deck]URw Robots[/deck]

One version runs [card]Heliod's Pilgrim[/card] for cute Aqueous Form and Ensoul Artifact fetchs (+ removal post board), the other is more consistent (only 2c) and has the Rabblemaster + more burn.

I should mention the 2nd list is 13R/13U/13W which according to this article: http://www.channelfireball.com/articles ... ur-spells/ is all you need for hitting 1 by turn two

Wow... ok now we also have Todd Anderson's List:

Its isn't as all in as the "R" versions making it possibly the better version.

My only complain is that it seems to just fold vs resolved Rabble Master (which one of the reason why I like Red).

Its been roughly 1.2 weeks since I had time to play magic anyhow I manage to test:

[deck]UR Robots[/deck]

I went 3-0 beating Aggro (weenies), Jeskai and Control.

Thoughts:
It play out like burn deck except it has minicombos (I personally found the deck really fun)
Monastery Swiftspear is amazing
The worst cards were: Springleaf Drum, Goblin Rabblemaster, Circle of Flame and Treasure Cruise (I'll be replacing Cruise for Dig through Time which I'll try and force into the MD)
I prefer R over UW because I like having additional reach and I believe that the deck gets weaker as the turns drag on (I'm not against URw, but I think just UW is just too slow).

I'll be working on "Ensoul" decks for the time being and I'll love any random suggestion thrown my-way (no matter how wacky).

Note: I'll still rather busy so my videos/reports won't be as regular

I've seen lists cutting drum down to 1 or 2 ofs, and I think I like that better, especially since you have no tapping shenanigans like daring thief or disciple of deceit. I think 4x stoke in the main is probably best.

Seem like I'm playing Burn Draw in every format which I play :D (Standard, Modern and Legacy)

Here is the list which I used to 3-0:

[deck=MDU's UR Artifact]Lands 22
4 Island
4 Mana Confluence
4 Shivan Reef
4 Darksteel Citadel
4 Temple of Epiphany
2 Mountain

Creatures 10
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Ornithopter
2 Phyrexian Revoker

Burns 13
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
4 Shrapnel Blast
1 Crater's Claws

Support 15
4 Ghostfire Blade
4 Ensoul Artifact
3 Stratus Walk
2 Stubborn Denial
2 Dig Through Time[/deck]

Here was my proposed SB plan:

Jeskai Wins (Burn)
Out: 2 Phyrexian Revoker, 3 Stratus Walk,
In: 2 Stubborn Denial, 3 Sing Bell Strike

Gb Devotion (Ramp)
Out: 4 Monastery Swiftspear, 2 Stubborn Denial
In: 2 Phyrexian Revoker, 4 Aqueous Form

Abzan Midrange (Midrange)
Out: 4 Monastery Swiftspear, 4 Shrapnel Blast
In: 3 Sing Bell Strike, 2 Stubborn Denial, 2 Phyrexian Revoker, 1 Aqueous Form

Rabble Red (Aggro)
Out: 3 Stratus Walk, 2 Stubborn Denial, 4 Shrapnel Blast
In: 4 Circle of Flame, 3 Sing Bell Strike, 2 Phyrexian Revoker

Control
Out: 3 Stratus Walk
In: 2 Stubborn Denial, 1 Phyrexian Revoker
Thoughts:
I really dislike being flooded... so I'm going to go back down into 21-19 lands
Dig was good but it seems like I had to tappout to cast it most of the time and digging 7 deep doesn't seem to be good enough (thus I'll splash white for better removal, extra protection and Heliod's Pilgrim).

- - - - - -

I'll try and work on the Jeskai Artifact Burn some more today and hopefully run another game.

@NotaRobot: I did think about running 4x Stoke MD but it seemed difficult to cast on paper (though I ended up flooded during my SE so stoke would of been fine...)

PROJECT ABANDON -Its fun but can't beat WBG due too discard and exile galore-
