I refuse to accept that there isn't a deck there though. Wizards wouldn't do that to me lol.
I'm attempting what is basically Strasky's t8 Jeskai deck but mardu instead.

Rider = Butcher
Charm = Crackling doom

Other small changes. Basically mardu burn.
In case it sparked any interest:

[Deck]
creatures
4 seeker of the way
4 goblin rabblemaster
4 butcher of the horde
2 stormbreath dragon

spells
2 chandra, Pyromaster
4 magma jet
4 lightning strike
4 Stoke the flames
4 crackling doom
4 hordeling outburst

Land
3 bloodstained mire
4 temple of triumph
2 temple of malice
3 battlefield forge
1 caves of koilos
4 nomad outpost
1 swamp
6 mountain
[/deck]

Still rough and only slightly tested. Has a little more punch and Doom which both help the Abzan and green matchups while still having game against the mirror and control. Sacrifices a bit against aggro because it's a little slower but can turn the corner well with life gain, which also lets it stay in the long game.

In addition to gryff and erase I can now board things like despise and erebos.

After testing it, I believe it is just a worse version of Jeskai. Trying to do the same thing but without Jeskai Charm puts you at a serious disadvantage. Murderous Cut is the biggest thing you get, since you typically have a lot in the grave.

It's just not quite there.

I also tested:

Mardu Midrange
Mardu Tokens
Mardu Warriors
Mardu Heros

None of them were particularly good.

I was thinking about a list similar to the one above, but with 25 land, 2-2 split Sarkhan/Stormbreath (or just 4 Stormbreaths), and Murderous Cuts/Downfalls instead of Jets/Strikes. Butcher/Stormbreath seem like they would do some nasty work against Green decks.

Is playing 2x Dig Through Time acceptable in a low curve deck with only 21 lands, burns and small creatures?

Scrumper's Bolt - Instant [mana]5RR[/mana]

Net decking is gas. Like, 2% of mtg players (including all pros) are good deck builders. Save your time, net deck like the rest if us and use that time to tune for your meta and work on your technical skills. Why experience the frustration of diminishing returns on time invested?

It is a word from a long time ago. From back before the Internet was ubiquitous. Back in those days, copying a deck directly from the net was a hotly contested debate. Many felt that building your own deck was part of the skill set of a good player. Others felt that they could just copy a deck and run with it. We don't notice these things now because the answer is simply academic these days.

I would consider myself an old fuck with a receding hairline and I netdeck all the time. I'm not good at brewing. I have way more fun playing someone else's well thought out brew because I'm not as good at spotting synergies between cards.

The amount if time required to build a competitive shell is beyond most people with a full time job ~ Boros Burn took us six weeks with a team of 5+ putting in regular hours, and even then our list was shitty compared to where we were months later once the list went public.

My approach to building decks.

1. Check whether Young Pyromancer is format legal.

2. If not, move formats until it is.

3. Begin the herculean task of coupling YP with instants and Sorceries. While the synergy is small, I suspect that I may be onto something.

Netdecks are ok, but you can't copy a deck 100%, take it to the local store and expect it to beat everyone without adjusting it to the local meta. So at the very least there is still some skill required in tuning those decks.

My approach:

1. Build a terrible list of my favorite cards

2. Make 50 revisions to it until it's slightly above average

3. Go 3-1

I'll chime in.
1. Check red cards and try to make aggro.
2. Proceed to get trashed by my team.

On another note on deckbuilding, my younger sister asked me to build her something to play casually with her friends. I checked what cards I have that are available, and somehow I got this:
[deck]Something Something Pyromancer[/deck]

She has somehow become the player to beat in their casual play group despite clusterfuck of cards I just mashed in.

Lack of the net is also why some magic players back in the day where SO dominant. Because people where largely lacking in understanding of magic theory and there was no material, you had these hall of fame players shitting on everyone.

But yeah, netdeck is a horrible term nowadays. You should always tune decks to your meta, but there's nothing wrong with taking Tom Ross's latest deck and running with it. Every time I've done that, I've cashed and been on the cusp of top 8. Oh, and the same deck usually won the tournament.

It's actually fairly tempting for me to just take Ross's states deck to the GP, but Jeskai burn, too strong.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
