I've always liked permanent-based solutions out of the SB when I play aggro (what else would I play?) against combo like Twin.

I prefer to find 1/2 CMC stuff, then drop it on the turn they're trying to go off. Leaving up mana for removal as an aggro deck in case they have it is very restrictive.

Illness, Spellskite, Torpor Orb, etc. let me drop it and get back to beating down.

I'll probably post both here and Sally(since there are actually people there to talk to affinity about).
Be careful what you wish for. I sometimes go to Sally to check up on the Burn thread (cuz I end up talking to the same 3 people here) and always regret it. Like, I'll read a page of posts and just want to kill myself because of the stupidity.

And then I come back here and want to kill myself because of the stupidity.

:suicide:
I feel your pain. I am trying to explain to this moron in the Legacy Burn thead why we don't want to splash two colors just to deal with a few oddball threats now that Cruise is banned and the old meta with Wasteland everywhere on its way back. I must enjoy pain or something.

While I am not so sure Team Italia is a good idea anyway, that isn't what he was suggesting. He wanted a burn deck with a few white/blue/black cards to answer Iona, Grislebrand, Emrakul, and Leyline not a value deck that just happens to have some burn spells in it.

I meant that the resurgence of Wasteland probably makes 4 colour midrange a bad plan.

Deathblade (which has nominally been 4 colors) has been a thing inspite of wasteland

If you are refering the mardu deck, I wouldn't count it as 4 colors, the green is there for value (being able to occasionally eat a creature here or there to mitigate lifeloss against an aggressive deck or against a dredge/reanimator strategy is fairly useful when needed), and you can still do what you need to with out green.

Think of it as a swamp that dies to wasteland randomly

Also dodges Elspeth / End Hostilities, which came up.

Me: Attack with Butcher + tokens

Him: untap, End Hostilities

Me: Untap, play land, Kolaghan dashed

Him: Untap, Elspeth, makes irrelevant tokes

Me: Untap, Kolaghan dashed for lethal.

Stormbreath Dragon might just be better, but he's been DTR a lot recently. Kolaghan has been decent enough to warrant further testing.

When manifest hits a creature, it's gas. Highlight of my night was chump blocking with two Sultai Emissary's and manifesting two Rabblemasters then cracking back for 12.

I think in the DTR game, Stormbreath survives more removal with pro white than KOLAGHAN does with Dash, so not sure what's up

After thinking for a while about it, I think the best home for monasatery mentor is probably Mardu colors. It plays excellently with thoughtseize and instant speed removal and for CA, there are finally enough incidental pieces to justify tormenting voice.

Mardu also has access to the widest swath of Planeswalkers which also pair well with mentor since sorin's and anthem for all your tokens and Chandra helps push them through combat steps.

Posted this when talking about potential ajundi builds:

[deck]1 Ajani Vengeant
4 Siege Rhino
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Lingering Souls
3 Liliana of the Veil
4 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Thoughtseize
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Abrupt Decay
4 Scavenging Ooze
1 Maelstrom Pulse
3 Path to Exile[/deck]

Found this while studying junk manabases on Modo:

[deck=]Creatures
3 Scavenging Ooze
4 Tarmogoyf
2 Courser of Kruphix
4 Siege Rhino

2 Lingering Souls
3 Liliana of the Veil
1 Ajani Vengeant
2 Inquisition of Kozilek
3 Thoughtseize
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Abrupt Decay
1 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Path to Exile

3 Blackcleave Cliffs
1 Plains
1 Swamp
1 Forest
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Marsh Flats
3 Raging Ravine
1 Blood Crypt
1 Overgrown Tomb
1 Godless Shrine
1 Temple Garden
1 Grove of the Burnwillows
1 Stirring Wildwood

1 Thoughtseize
2 Timely Reinforcements
2 Aven Mindcensor
2 Anger of the Gods
2 Golgari Charm
2 Stony Silence
3 Fulminator Mage
1 Slaughter Games[/deck]

Other then the sideboard being a little off and having 1 less black source then I prefer, I actually like the look of this deck and was pleasantly surprised to find someone grindy successfully with it(same game played this deck across all the modern dailies to cash finishes).

I see no real point in playing 4 colors or Jund in general, not with BBE imprisoned
