@Platypus: Burn seems ok in the meta you have. If the meta swings slightly more controlish, it won't be favourable. I will explain via PM, or via a new post here.
PM sent.
Just to have something else in here...I'm planning to start writing a primer for Mono Black Control decks. They might not be Tier 1, but there's some potential there at least, starting with that Vampire deck that finished 4-0. I haven't done much MtG writing before, so I will probably mess up on several things. So, if anyone wants to proofread (English isn't my native language), edit out blatantly wrong stuff, or just comment, please drop me a PM. I haven't started yet, but I'll probably do it whenever I find the spare time.

Can we have a Rakdos enchantment that says creatures you control have Unleash? That would be nice I guess.

If you're a good player, you can assemble a good deck and win back enough store credit to pay for the deck. Assuming you can play often enough.
I think that depend about your LGS policy. For exemple, for my 3rd place in the Win-a-Box tournament I get 8€ of credit. 2nd place: 72€ of credit. That was a really sad day for me.
In fairness to Kaze and anyone who might feel like him, the more senior members (me especially) haven't been doing a lot of streaming lately, so there's not a lot to learn from.
I feel a bit remiss in my duties, I really should be keeping better track of standard. I got very distracted by my breakup and dropped a lot of things while I was in panic mode.
I
really miss your streaming Ham. But of course, since what happened, I think that nobody can blame you for that. I just hope that things are going better now and to see your streaming (as well as Zem's too) soon. I can say that for sure all of you guys streamings, suggestions and considerations have really helped me improving as a player. And generally have better days reading all the stuff here.

Lulz!
I just noticed that Teia got moved from WCT to The Speakeasy... I'm pretty sure that's about as close to demodding without actually being demodded that you can get.

It's the best of both worlds: the staff's happy that they can still pretend like a girl is flirting with them in GRRRRR, and the members are happy that they don't have to put up with his bullshit anymore.
Honestly, it's a very elegant solution.

She's purty. Definitely going Rakdos at the Prerelease. I'm hoping for some more interesting unleash & scavenge creatures.
Slitherhead becomes a haste enabler with her out.

Yeah, I'm hoping for some good 1,2, or 3 drop Unleash dudes to really set her off.
Nice.

That Azorious champ is just silly. If you were tired of bant Resto-blink decks, Lavinia is coming in strong. I'm worried that she could totally shut down much creature aggro. Moreover, I'm just tired of things that play well with thragtusk.

She gives haste to undead Wolfs and Hounds as well. Don't know how relevant that will be, but it's a nice bonus.

Oh crap! That one is not very nice. Oh well, guess I'll continue thinking about my black deck then...

Yeah, Lanivia is a bitch all right - but my plan's the same as it ever was to deal with annoying 5cc creatures: start dropping flyers that just don't care.
Her + Resto is an extremely annoying combo, though...

For reference:
Lavinia of the Tenth 3WU
Legendary Creature - Human Soldier
Protection from red
When Lavinia of the Tenth enters the battlefield, detain each nonland permanent your opponents control with converted mana cost 4 or less.
Oh, for fuck's sake. Pro-red and detains everything 4 or less? That's a great big middle finger to R/x Aggro.

Double strike, Haste, Pro blue
2/2
Or we get some sick burn. Like, Price of Progress.

Being testing a lot of the mono black vampire deck. Realised that the bad cards were the vampires, and that the control shell was really good. This leads me to:
[deck]
3 Obzedat, Ghost Council
3 Staff of Nin
2 Curse of Death's Hold
4 Lingering Souls
4 Mutilate
1 Oblivion Ring
1 Sever the Bloodline
4 Sign in Blood
3 Tragic Slip
4 Tribute to Hunger
1 Ultimate Price
4 Victim of Night
4 Godless Shrine
4 Isolated Chapel
3 Plains
14 Swamp
1 Vault of the Archangel
Sideboard
1 Curse of Death's Hold
4 Duress
2 Human Frailty
1 Oblivion Ring
1 Obzedat, Ghost Council
2 Rest in Peace
2 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
2 Underworld Connections[/deck]
Really wanted to make Liliana work but its too hard to break symmetry.

I really like that list, B/W is my favorite color combo outside of R/W. I'd run it if i had the cards.

With all the recent spoilers, I'm feeling a decided urge to build a WBR deck...I'm thinking there's some good stuff in there.
I know, shocking right? Like everyone else didn't reach that same conclusion several weeks ago.

Wow...that does look more consistent. The vampire deck is nuts when it goes off (flipping Keeper), but when it doesn't, major frustration. I swapped over to Br with Dreadbore, Charm, RR and Olivia, but still it's a blowout one way or the other with little middle ground. A shame...I really wanted to have a Keeper deck work before he went out of Std.

Ham, that sounds really good right now...it's cold and rainy here. But, I need to take a nap before I can indulge in caffeine...just got off work for the week and need to flip back to daywalker mode. Keep a cup warm for me, ham!
Damn my useless manners... CONGRATS ON THE 60-DAY MARK!!! YOU ROCK MASTER HAMWISE!!!!

nThe deck is eerily similar to what I posted on MTGS in the clan thread in terms of the control base. The win cons are just different and, IMO, stronger.
Do you think 4 Mutilate is correct running eight non-Swamps?

By the time he has 4 mana out, he should - statistically - have 3 Swamps.
That's probably enough to stem the initial bleeding enough so that your spot removal can clean up.

I'd probably still play
Vampire Nighthawk, sometimes in a shell like this you'll just resolve him and then beat them down over the course of a few turns, which seems like it would smooth everything out.
Also
Bloodgift Demon seems good in some number. I get that they die to Mutilate, but honestly just 1 or 2 turns with Bloodgift out puts you pretty far ahead on its own.

My only concern is Slaughter Games naming OGC. If you can't duress it away you lose.

I like Nighthawk too, but I think here he'd rather just be casting Tribute on turn three. It basically does the same thing Nighthawk does, which is gain you life and kill a creature. For
the late game, I can see it serving as an extra threat, but he already has Lingering Souls, Staff of Win, and Obzedat to take care of that.
Also
Bloodgift Demon seems good in some number. I get that they die to Mutilate, but honestly just 1 or 2 turns with Bloodgift out puts you pretty far ahead on its own.
Staff of Nin fills that slot and bypasses mainboard removal. It also pings for one and doesn't cost you one life every turn if you want to be the one drawing the card.

No, it's not an auto-loss, but I'm sure you can see his point: winning the game on the backs of a ping-stick and a few 1/1 tokens is not the easiest thing in the world.
Though the deck probably has enough CA and removal to still make a game of it.

Exactly. Between the removal and card advantage the deck doesn't mind putting an opponent on a six-turn clock. Even without drawing into removal you'll often be able to activate Vault so creature presence matters less.
