I was totally joking re: the french, cultural stereotypes are just stupid. They make for good comedy though.
I need to replace my desktop machine, but damn I do not want to get rid of my Mac. Thing's at least 7 years old and besides being a tad slow sometimes, it does what I need it to do. I've never had a problem with it. And you can pry my iPad 2 from my cold, dead fingers. :)
....And this is why I'm a fan of Apple products.

As for the "surrendering" part. Hai. Hitler was a thing. France was small, the Wehrmacht was not. Not to mention the British and Belgians got their asses stomped, too.
Technically speaking France is bigger than Germany summed to Austria.
Let's just say that Europe was not ready for a war based upon tanks rather than infantry, and France was too confident on the existence of the Maginot line.

I never understood the stereotype that the French are cowards/bad at war or whatever. For one they had the era of Napoleon (i know he wasn't French but still).

Italian's are worse then the French. What's with all that hand waving while talking? That shit's unnecessary. And why are the suits so goddamn expensive?

Displeased.

It's called multimedia.

No idea - I'm a programmer, I've never worn a suit.
In fact, I own more kilts than suits.

In all the foreign countries I've been to, being a black American has generally been a massive boon(heh) with the ladies. Pretty sure the uniform helped, but not as much as being classy as fuck.

@Z: Don't you hate black people? Filthy casual.

Nah I hate white people. Not because of white guilt or anything stupid, just because we're whiny. Pip's my first white girl friend. Guess what the others were (not all the same).

PEEEEEEEEEEEEERSIAN.

I knew that!

I figured I should have gone with to oriental ethnicities based on proximity reasons, but figured I'd get spicy with my choices.

Indian was a very good choice, there's a sizeable Indian community here.

Black isn't because there just aren't many here, and it's a numbers game.

Japanese was probably obvious ^____^

For everyone trying to get better at cardboard, this is a good read. The most important takeaway and something Z tries to emphasive:

Step3: Don't memorize, Understand.

Once you understand how things work, magic gets a LOT easier(still hard).

^Yeah, this is so true. I'm starting to feel that I finally starting to understand why some lists work and others don't. Comparing last seasons lists and what I played, with my early Theros standard builds and the different YP lists, Red Devotion, and Br builds, have really caused this change.

If I only could get to some FNMs someday...

Speaking of understanding how lists work... I've built Naya Control and I was tempted to try it on friday, but after two days of playtesting I just don't get how that's supposed to beat Control.

Game 1 is bad depending on how you draw as your deck is something like 12 dead removal spells. However, postboard, you have something like 8/9 cards that win the game unanswered(xenagos/Elspeth/assemble the legion) to go along with cards that threats that they struggle to interact with efficiently(Selesnya keyrune of all things, stormbreath dragon).

Also, Advent and selesnya charm give you a bevy of flash creatures that grant varying degrees of pressure. Sunhome guildmage is also cute.

This falls under the practice part of his article, but one of the big rules for learning I discovered from PUA is for every hour of theory, have two hours in the field. For magic, I read a few things on here and then try them out at the next magic tournament (if I can, I still want to try letting my red go first post board... :? ).

I've been using
the rule for when I teach myself how to draw. I try to watch a 5 to 15 minute video on whatever topic I'm working on (usually rewatching one) and then I draw for half an hour.

It's been pretty solid for keeping focused and not becoming paralyzed from information overload or tricking yourself into believing that you practiced by reading a book instead of doing whatever it is.

If anyone wants one, I can get you a genuine French military rifle - pristine condition - never fired, only dropped once.

As for girls dated: 1 Hispanic, 1 Black, 1 European Latin, lots of whites. I wish we had more Asians around here. :frown:

Oh Dan...do a search and look at the new Macs that are coming out. The entire freakin' box is a little cylinder that is supposedly going to house a workstation-class machine. Sexy...
Believe me, I don't need any
convincing. My bank account, however, needs expanding before I can seriously consider a purchase like that.

IDK, I just can't adjust to such a plan honestly.
You basically start with 1/5 dead draws on G1, then just hope to overflood them in G2 and G3 with threats that are hard to deal with.
It gives me the same vibes as the Dega midrange build I've tried at the beginning of the season, it's like playing a watered-down Jund from last season.

Maybe I'm the one being wrong here, as my local meta features lots of control while MODO doesn't, yet this thing bothers me.

I am a big fan of how tightly Apple
controls the user interface of their products, especially the various flavors of OS X. Though it was a huge overhaul from Classic, OS X didn't require the user to relearn the system to interact with the computer. The programs all have the same basic layout, and they don't change things just to change things like Microsoft does. I hate the newest versions of Office on Windows machines for that reason.

Re. all the French / European war silliness, I listen to a podcast called Dan Carlin's Hardcore History and he just did part 1 of a multi-part series about the buildup to World War I. It's really quite good, and I recommend the series about Genghis Khan.

Windows 8 is a perfect example of change for the sake of change, which is a horrible way to design a product. Incremental, evolutionary changes that build upon what the existing user base already knows and expects are much better than whatever the hell Microsoft is trying to do.

To use an analogy, the basic design of the automobile hasn't changed in over 100 years. To be sure, there have been many improvements to and changes in the technologies in automobiles, but the basic controls and layout haven't changed. As a user, I can get behind the wheel of almost any car and immediately understand the various controls and layout.

Microsoft doesn't seem to get that. I've been using computers for years and have taught various classes on how to use them, so it was unbelievably frustrating using one of the more recent versions of Word when I couldn't find the Print command. The document controls were hidden in the decorative
jewel in the upper left-hand corner whereas before that they were always in the menus. They took ten years of design and threw it all out, creating a barrier that didn't need to be there.

Apple ain't perfect (the new look of iOS 7 irks me to no end since it looks incomplete), but it at least tries to avoid nonsense like that.

@photo — I hadn't seen the new design before. Damn. That is impressive looking. Hopefully, it's not another Cube in the making.
