I know, I know... ;-;
Anywho, some friends are doing a tribal deck thing, and I'm deciding if I should join in.
And if I do, not sure if I should go barbarians because red, or wimp out and go with something thats not just weaker then their merfolk and elf decks. (Bloody try-hards)
Edit: also thinking of maybe druids, but dunno

Tribal is cool. I like niche formats. I'd do RW kithkin/giants because reasons.

Cool!
One of the regulars at my local store made day 2 as well, with a 7-2-1 result. So I'm cheering for him as well (even though he's probably running mono-blue devotion...)

Go the distance!
Go for speed!

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line,
Engines pumping and thumping in time.
The green light flashes, the flags go up.
Churning and burning, they yearn for the cup.
They deftly maneuver and muscle for rank,
Fuel burning fast on an empty tank.
Reckless and wild, they pour through the turns.
Their prowess is potent and secretly stearn.
As they speed through the finish, the flags go down.
The fans get up and they get out of town.
The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns.
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

First rough draft of a goat tribal
[deck]
Creatures 24
4x Battering Craghorn
4x Colos Yearling
4x Crested Craghorn
4x Mountain Goat
4x Wild Colos
4x Springjack Shepherd
Buffs/Enablers 15
3x Door of Destinies
4x Glory of Warfare
3x Glorious Anthem
3x Trading Post
2x Shared Animosity
Lands 21
4x Springjack Pasture
9x mountain
8x plains
[/deck]
Glorious anthem would be
shared triumph but I kinda want more white sources for the shepherd's chroma. But might still use triumph. Dunno.
Oh, and any creature that doesn't say goat on it's card HAS been errata'd in gatherer to be a goat. I checked

going for speed!
She's all alone
In her time of need.

He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse,
He's going the distance!

No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine,
He's haunted by something he cannot define.
Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
Assail him, impale him with monster-truck force.
In his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade.
She's hoping in time that her memories will fade.
Cause he's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,

Birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
You see birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
I can see their dead weight
Just dropping like stones
Or small loaves of bread
Past my window all the time.
But unless I get up,
Walk across the room
And peer down below,
I don't see their last second curves
Toward a horizontal flight.
All these birds just falling from the ledge like stones.

And raida, if you want to play legacy on the cheap you probably want to be in RDW. Burn is slightly better (imho), but it's considerably more expensive as the fetch lands go from "something you probably need, but can get by with out" to "core functional deck component", and chain lightning deserves some very serious consideration at that point ($14 a piece for those on a good day).
RDW gives you access to fast strong creatures, good burn, and excellent mana disruption. I imagine you can probably figure those out, but the last bit deserves special attention as it keeps you in games you should lose. 4 wastelands MD is a near must, and some magus of moon in the sideboard does a great job making people regret their $1000 manabases.
Played some EDH today, and I must say that
meloku the clouded mirror does hilarious things against LD, and when combined with [card]
halimar depths[/card] it becomes a token spawning divining top.

Legacy RDW is all about 4 Wasteland and 4 Chrome Mox, artifact lands and Molten Rain.

We know of an ancient radiation that
haunts dismembered constellations;
a faintly glimmering radio station.
While Frank Sinatra sings "Stormy Weather"
the flies and spiders get along together.
Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record.
Can't expect a Cake-a-thon without an old karaoke fool like me joining in.

Beyond the suns that guard this roof,
Beyond your flowers of flaming truths,
Beyond your latest ad campaigns,
An old man sits collecting stamps
In a room all filled with Chinese lamps.
He saves what others throw away.
He says that he'll be rich some day.

Speaking of jokes, every time I go to Sally I regret the decision. I think "hey, maybe they're saying something intelligent today" and what do I get?
"How do I board against Pod?" and
"Welding Jar is good." and robot decks with 2x Memnite, Galvanic Blast with Islands as the basics
"because Thoughtcast", 4x Steel Overseer and 2x Etched Champion instead of the other way around...

Posted: Sun Dec 01, 2013 7:59 pm
by Wraith223
What were you expecting? Intelligent discussion? Sad to say not much has changed for Affinity in modern, thus trying new builds with steel overseer percentages over Etched Champion is purely
I get more ideas from Commander threads, weird new modern builds (mono-black devotion), side board ideas, and actual deck play reports than just the competitive primer threads.
Market street is Ok if you want to see what in your collection jumped in price. Ignore anything SirBruce says.
Water Cooler is a joke. I pray 9909 never becomes a moderator. That bitch has issues.

I don't know what I expected. I get optimistic that not everyone is an idiot sometimes. There's like one guy saying "hey, you should build your sideboard and your MD flex spots to compete in your own meta, not just on what someone on the internet said". Of course nobody is listening to him.
Last time I went to Market Street the PMs went something like this:
Other guy: "Hey, I'll give you this $20 stack of cards for your $40 stack of cards."
Me: "I'd feel better if the values were more even. How about my $40 stack of cards for your $39 stack of cards?"
Other guy: "Throw another $25 onto your stack and you've got a deal."
Me: "Alright then. Go fuck yourself."
Alternately, "I want your Mox Opal, check my list." It's full of $1 rares.
