I feel sorry for the loss of his uncle, but no one wants to join his pity party because he got dumped.

idk somehow.brads level of.insight, wisdom, and epiphany resonate more with me todds "my wifes lettjng me play magic and not work shitty jobs wheee"

It's more reflective and sincere and outward expressing than Todd Anderson's article by a long shot, but I still don't understand why personal blogs are behind a paywall at SCG. People pay to read about Magic strategy, matchups, brews, etc. Not about life lessons, regardless of whether there are good messages or real pain/loss. I'm sure it's cathartic for him to write it, but SCG Premium simply isn't the place for it in my opinion.

Honestly, it got better towards the end, but it was still just filled with so much 'oh woe is me' that it hurt.
And since when is scg premium a personal blog?

The only life lesson that article taught me is that I can win $5000 a night playing Blackjack.
New career, here I come!

I just love how he spends almost exactly as many lines talking about the big win as with his 'unforgettable' moments with his uncle. I suppose he thinks it makes the article more gritty and realistic if he didn't proofread it enough to realize what a narcissistic tool he comes across as.

Should not have been behind a paywall, but I don't take issue with the article. It's nowhere near the level of Todd's.

His self-reflection is commendable, even if it is sloppily communicated and only leads him to conclusions that would be apparent were it not for a huge ego.
Still not something I'd have wanted to pay to read from SCG.

I'm rolling burn in paper pauper, and all my testing has been excellent so far. Wrecked faeries, MUC, infect, and MBC. And paper pauper MBC is way scarier than modo pauper MBC, freaking hymn is a rape train if you haven't already got them a fair way down, and guerrilla tactics actually helps. One match I was holding 2 and a fireblast, hymn hits both for the kill (one would have done it, but hitting both was comedic).

I'm trying to get a paper pauper league going down here. No help from the LGS because "I can't make money on that". Fucking Scrooge...

That article needs Joker levels of editing to be anywhere close to good, but it is more thoughtful than Anderson's attempt to justify his emotional abuse of his wife.

I have a feeling their system is that they require a certain amount of content per contributor per whatever pre-determined cycle they have with said contributor. Unfortunately sometimes that leads to deadline-itis and stagnation, and you get articles like "GG" by Todd Anderson talking about body odor, Worst Magic Article Ever Written by Chas Andres basically lampooning himself but adding no useful content, and this article by Brad Nelson discussing personal matters.
I know it will fall on deaf ears, but I sent an email to their customer service detailing my thoughts.

Back from remote airport work. Damn it's cold. My mom's report came back as dense tissue! No cancer! Praise my God then Mr. P., Damn that was scary. Also means that my parents retirement is not blown on cancer care.
Sadly, I will miss FNM tonight. Not really wild about driving on sleet covered roads. I can drive on anything, but everyone else.....no. It's a 30 minute drive to a town with FNM.
On a side note, I stopped reading CFB. Not paying good money for magic opinion. You can that from most and here for free. Zman is good, but the rest make me puke. Tcg player is ok, but personal life stories are filler when the writer can't think of anything to write about.

Fucking lazy mail carrier delivered my game to the apartment office (which you're not supposed to do... especially if you mark the package as "notice left/sent back to post office"). I biked out to the post office again this morning and talked to the Postmaster/manager and he spent 15 minutes looking for my package which he obviously could not find. I checked my apt. office out of sheer curiosity. He did sound kinda pissed over the phone when I told him what happened, so hopefully the mail carrier gets told not to do that again.
That said, I had the opportunity to play this on Tuesday, or all day Wednesday, or last night, and tonight I have Magic and tomorrow I work all day... when I finally get time to play, this game better be fucking good.

Brad nelson is not particularly interesting to read or watch, unless he's paired with evan erwin, and even then erwin was better with gerry thompson.

I guess a better comparison would be Hell - no real consensus on whether it actually exists or not (though all evidence is against it), but it makes a good story and is useful for scaring children: "Be good or I'll send you to Australia where the people are all convicted felons, there's a crocodile in every toilet, and people regularly die to
jumping ant attacks!"

Well, my county is officially under a state of emergency.
http://www.bnd.com/2013/12/06/2945031/s ... ckson.html
Doesn't seem that bad from the kitchen window, but I hear a lot of sirens and with the snow not forecasted to stop falling for another 4 hours I haven't seen any plows. Spent two hours digging out my driveway this morning. Turned around and there was already another inch of it, but this time it's sitting on top of a layer of salt instead of a layer of ice. Your move, winter...
