God, I've never seen a better usage of three mana than counterspell out of sudden!
If you're playing three mana for Counterspell you're #doinitwrong
Four mana counters is where it's at:

SCG IQ with Dos Rakis was a flop due to variance (0-3), but last night's FNM was a success with AIR (4-1-1). Was able to beat two tough match-ups, but lost to Jund and WW.

Fun stream this afternoon with Lazerburn (2-2). Competitive matches, probably would have gone better if I'd seen my sideboard cards in the Storm and Twin matchups.
Rakdos Charm, I needed you!

Mana Drain and
Counterspell <33
2 mana counters are the
real deal

Mmm depends on the format. 2 mana is too much for legacy!

Counter spell isn't unplayable in legacy. And mana drain is mana drain.

Needs more blue spells.

I don't know any tier 1 deck that plays counterspell now. It was at best a 1 of in Esper stoneblade.

I've seen a few miracle list that run it. I didn't say good, I just said not unplayable. Though I'll trust you on it.

I see the problem. I tend to overlook miracles as a deck. Point taken.

Great fun streaming with Ham today. Watching SCG coverage leads me to propose that Thea Steele is awarded honorary FoS membership - she's red headed, very hot, good at MTG, red headed and very hot

I am a control player. All things are easy on account of my great intellect. There is nothing OP about a 1 mana edict or JTMS. They are only playable because I can so easily outthink all opponents. Such is the nature of the Dimir Mage.

2-2 in Standard playing RWb Burn. List wasn't that good, poor choice.
4-0 in Legacy playing UB Control. List is absurd.
3rd overall, $500 richer.

The deck cost me about $2300...so sadly no, I can't. When I am in the US next I might let you touch the deckbox.

I cut the trinket mage package because it's too slow against the current combo decks and doesn't block TNN; it was my mandatory "pitch to force" card. There has to be a card in the deck that does that, here it is often Stifle; but the Stifle + Wasteland + Crucible + Spell Pierce synergy is just too good I think, so I kept that part of the deck.
Why play this deck:
- it plays most of the best cards in the format
- you have very difficult to interact with win conditions
- you're a control deck with multiple soft-locks and a nutdraw
- jtms > all
Anyway, notes on the deck.
- mostly geared towards beating UWR/RUG Delver and Sneak and Show. Legacy isn't a big format here so I expected people to play the "best decks".
- UWR has too many bad cards against you; Daze, Bolt, Swords are all pretty bad and you've got easy and cheap answers to all their good cards, which makes
Spell Pierce and Force much worse too. Resolve any 'walker or Crucible and win basically.
- Sneak and Show is basically all in on Sneak Attack as if the Show and Tell in Emrakul you can just untap and edict it and they're a million miles behind. Post board, Pithing Needle of Sneak Attack usually wins.
- Otherwise your matchups are mostly fair. You're a slight dog to Esper Stoneblade because of Lingering Souls; Elves! are tough Game 1 but post board you have a bevy of good cards.
- D&T is a tough matchup, and I included as much hate as I could justify, in case someone were to play it (EE, Damnation x 2, Dark Blast, Dread of Night x 2).
- Never leave home without your Nihil Spellbombs; it wrecks any Tarmogoyf deck, as well as Dredge.

Anyone here ever get scammed on an online trade? I am trading with someone on Deckbox, and they only sent me 2 of the 4 cards I was supposed to get.

My sisters graduation went ok. The commencement speaker was a 3 star general and he actually was funny. He began by saying "past great speakers I remember at my graduation said "blah blah...blah blah BLAH and I hope you remember mine". The General was funny as shit. My sister already has Associates in Math and Statics, Bachelors in Statistics, and now her Airplane Mechanics degrees (2 more associates degrees). She wants to be a Missionary pilot. We went to outback steakhouse afterward and a destroyed about 8 black breads + dinner. Man that bread is addicting. Hey Zem, do you have outback steakhouse in Aussi land or is that just a joke on us Americans? Would not be supprised.
Watch this.

@ Tubehunter: What do you like about it? You seem to have a decent grip on legacy as a format, so run me through your thoughts on the deck. Any questions or suggestions?
@ Wraith: We do have Steakhouses, though they're a little different to what you see in the US. You know of the chain Mortons (may only be in New England)? They're like a step or two down from that in classiness, but the food is similar.
