So, I normally wear my narwhal hat for fnm and card tournaments. My gf's mom just gave me a hat that looks like a dog, and has ears that flap when I squeze a thing on it.
I now have 2 hats for fnm :3 Gonna have to start collecting.

If it lifts it's leg and wizzes on the player next to you; I would have been impressed.

Would you say that you like that deck more or less than your U/b list? I played the U/b list a bit, and I could see where it could powerful, but my lack of experience with control decks caused me to make a few bad play decisions and lose the game (although I'm happy with myself for at least being able to realize where I screwed up). I'm trying to get a few of the more casual players at my school into Pauper, since some of them have a smaller budget than others and this format puts us on an even playing field, and it'll let me try out new deck styles for a very low cost.
While writing this up, I've made the decision that I'll show them the mono blue list for someone to put together, since I'd hate to face a deck that only wins through Curse of the Bloody Tome on a regular basis.

I like the Mill list a lot, but I don't think the meta is quite right for it. If decks like Affinity and MBC are the most popular (there's no data at the moment), then ill go back to it.

We might even be able to get my sister-in-law to knit one if we ask nicely enough and buy the yarn for it.

My friend's wife knits geek hats. She knitted my son a Batman hat when he was first born and she's done a couple Jayne hats. My favorite she did was a Thor helmet.

One of the stores I play at, called Serenity Games, sells them. If you couldn't tell from the name of the store, the owner is a bona fide Firefly nut. He even dresses up as Mal.

Anyway, list time. Already posted the Burn list, so here is my latest work of art.
[deck]Legacy UB Control[/deck]
Lands
2 Mishra's Factory
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Polluted Delta
2 River of Tears
4 Underground Sea
4 Wasteland
2 Island
1 Swamp
Planeswalkers
3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
3 Liliana of the Veil
Artifacts
2 Crucible of Worlds
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Sensei's Divining Top
Instants
4 Brainstorm
4 Force of Will
4 Spell Pierce
4 Stifle
Sorceries
1
Damnation
4 Innocent Blood
2 Inquisition of Kozilek
4 Thoughtseize
Sideboard
1 Damnation
1 Darkblast
2 Dread of Night
1 Engineered Plague
3 Flusterstorm
2 Hymn to Tourach
3 Nihil Spellbomb
2 Pithing Needle[/deck]
I cut the trinket mage package because it's too slow against the current combo decks and doesn't block TNN; it was my mandatory "pitch to force" card. There has to be a card in the deck that does that, here it is often Stifle; but the Stifle + Wasteland + Crucible + Spell Pierce synergy is just too good I think, so I kept that part of the deck.
Why play this deck:
- it plays most of the best cards in the format
- you have very difficult to interact with win conditions
- you're a control deck with multiple soft-locks and a nutdraw
- jtms > all
Anyway, notes on the deck.
- mostly geared towards beating UWR/RUG Delver and Sneak and Show. Legacy isn't a big format here so I expected people to play the "best
decks".
- UWR has too many bad cards against you; Daze, Bolt, Swords are all pretty bad and you've got easy and cheap answers to all their good cards, which makes Spell Pierce and Force much worse too. Resolve any 'walker or Crucible and win basically.
- Sneak and Show is basically all in on Sneak Attack as if the Show and Tell in Emrakul you can just untap and edict it and they're a million miles behind. Post board, Pithing Needle of Sneak Attack usually wins.
- Otherwise your matchups are mostly fair. You're a slight dog to Esper Stoneblade because of Lingering Souls; Elves! are tough Game 1 but post board you have a bevy of good cards.
- D&T is a tough matchup, and I included as much hate as I could justify, in case someone were to play it (EE, Damnation x 2, Dark Blast, Dread of Night x 2).
- Never leave home without your Nihil Spellbombs; it wrecks any Tarmogoyf deck, as well as Dredge.
Likes: The facts that it deals with both TNN decks and Show and tell decks.
nThe artifact package. It allows you to deal with a lot of different things. Im not as big a fan of crucible of worlds, but its only a two of. and protects you from and fuels your own wastelands
the extra discard effects that allow you to hedge against storm decks while still being good against almost every other deck.
Like you said, you seem a bit weak to D&T and elves, but you have a fair amount of cards to bring in agianst them.
Your SB seems well set up.
Dislikes:
Spell Pierce: It just feels hard to play 4 pierce in a hard control deck, but with the light mana denial elementals and such, you could make it work.
I feel like you need a few more basics, but aside from the river of tears, I can't see where you could fit them in.
Quick aside: Why River of Tears over creeping tar pit?

Thanks for the feedback. I think River of Tears is the next best dual:
- taps for B on your turn; all your sorcery speed stuff is black
- taps for U on their turn; all your instants are blue
You need more than 4 duals. Watery Grave was dismissed because while fetachable, the lifeloss is unacceptable. The other two candidates were Drowned Catacombs or Darkslick Shores, both of which are pretty good. I don't like Creeping Tarpit because of ETBT and the deck is incredibly mana hungry. It's a worse blocker than Factory as well. It's definitely possible that the mana base could be tuned and improved. Thoughts?

My mom is a serious knitter and there are patterns on craftsy for the Jayne hat. She is making one soon. Go to a knit store in your city and ask if anyone will make it for you for some $.

Yeah, I can see the argument for river. It just feels weird to run unfetchable duals in legacy. I realized that you probably used vault as
a 2/3 blocker first, and a win con second after that post.. It just feels like the man could be a little more tuned. Im going to have to play the list a bit before making any suggestions, just specluation for the moment. I'll get back to you on it.

I don't see why not river of tears. If they completed the cycle the rest of it would be pure garbage (unless the WU one was also blue when it wasn't your turn), but for that specific color combination in that specific arrangement, it's perfectly elegant and does exactly what you need despite being unfetchable. It's ironic then that the rg futuresight dual was the worst drawback for the color combination.

Kait is the opposite of a budget player. If the card doesn't cost at least $50, it's trash.

I'm curious about this too, as from my experience (while it was in Standard) River performed so poorly I almost burned all of my copies. IIRC, the problem was that it was theoretically amazing, giving you just the right mana at just the right time, but in practice often screwed over because you weren't dueling a goldfish.

My only advice is to test it, I have liked it a lot and have been playing this list with small variants for ~9 months. The other good options are darkslick shores, though you do need to hit untapped 4 mana pretty often and drowned catacombs (CIPT turn 1). Discuss from there.

River of Tears is probably fine. I think I would probably just play Watery Grave but whatev'. I don't mind shocks in Legacy that much, they soften you up to burn but you can't expect to play against that deck after the first few rounds anyway.

RUG Delver is the scarier one tbh. Im never beating a competent Burn player, ever.

RUG seems like a matchup that you need to nutdraw anyway. I doubt the 2 shocks will break the matchup any more for you.

I'm under the impression that burn is terrible in legacy right now 'cause of Show n' Tell/lots of combo decks burn can't interact with

Alex, are you saying UB Control needs to nutdraw, or RUG Delver? My experience is that its slightly RUG Delver sided, but they're unlikely to have any experience against the archetype, which pushes it towards even.
