I got one better than that. One time I actually did hear someone say "I'm not racist, I just don't like black people".

Bonus points: She didn't actually say "black people"...

To be fair, niggers are the worst. But niggers aren't exclusively black, either, so there's that. You can be Native American and still be a nіgger if you do niggery things like wear your pants around your thighs, listen to obscene music in the parking lot of public places, and fire pistols sideways.

After spending five years living in Pine Hills, I got really sick of that type of behavior. Anybody of any race is capable of it.

There have been multiple occasions where I have nearly been in fights over people doing stuff like that. One time I was at a gas station in West Palm Beach and this guy is blaring this shitty music at the pump at a gas station, ("fuck" or "nіgger" was basically every other word to the lyrics) and parked on the other side of that pump was a minivan with these two little kids in it. I walked with up to his car, yanked the keys out and when he threw a fit, I got in his face and told him that if he didn't learn some fucking respect for those around him, I would make sure he at least remembered that day.

His reaction was to pretend like he was tough, that he was going to "call his crew" and beat my ass. After I shrugged and told him I'd be waiting in my car, he
drove off fuming that I made him look like a giant vagina in front of the girl in the passenger seat.

tl;dr: yeah, fuck those types of people and anybody who acts like 'em.

Also being white is awesome because in the two occasions where these interactions did end up in blows, I wasn't the one being charged. I mean, yeah, racism still exists, but I'm not going to fight it if it's keeping me out of the tank.

You must have pussy gang members where you live(d). In texas, fist fights are for black friday shoppers. I don't weight train, but train in weapon and takedown tactics. I am to small for weight training and the benefits don't last. I also don't care for fist fights as it gives the target a chance to respond with an unknown tactic or weapon from anywhere. Anything near accelerants is a BAD idea for planning an event as described. You still got lucky. Bullets versus skin are one sided. If I were you; I would walk away from that
event not considering that a win. It was not life threatening till you made it so for the children near by. Police would have waited for the kids to move out. I know what its like to have all this knowledge and training to be a badass, but one unintended squrew up makes you worse than the scum you were intending to stop. Situation, scene control, timing, and planning matter. It's in the past now, and that's just my take from your facts.
Not in anyway picking on you, but do NOT want anyone else reading the scene as a win or a good idea.

When I got robbed in high school, my first instinct was to fight, despite being outnumbered. Thankfully calmer heads (and by that I mean my friends) prevailed and handed over enough goods to appease them before I made things worse.

@ Helios, don't think it is so much supporting bigotry or even accepting it. There is a fine line between joke and insult. Normally that line is drawn at intent. Being of said social group or involved doesn't excuse you of said remarks. This clan is fairly tolerant except when it comes to fuckwads.

I have been in a few fights in my adult life, once with a belligerent homophobe, and several times drunk, and the key has been to not trade blows, but get inside and wrestle. It reduces the odds that a surprise weapon will be brought to bear against you, and if you can exploit the right holds and pressure points you can end it quick. And by virtue of having a nervous tic I can fake being crazy as shit really easily, and people tend not to mess with crazy people. If I am in a dicey area i'll start talking to myself and focus on not having twitches (which inevitably makes them happen worse than usual), and I end up getting a wide berth.

I have a gun (I may be a politically progressive, socially accepting, cuddly when drunk homosexual, but i'm still 'murican dammit). Sadly it's my parent's house and not with me, mostly because I have no where to put it, and have had zero pistol practice since I got out of the military. Rifle time certainly, and one afternoon with a shotgun, 24 shells, and some liquor bottles. I should actually get off my but and look into getting a conceal carry permit.
