Just went 2-1 at fnm, drafted almost mono red with 2 jets, 2 lightning strikes, 2 kragma warcaller, stormbreath, and rage blood shaman, and mostly minotaurs. Narrowly missed 2nd but lucked out the door prize, mission accomplished.

Took store credit for prize, got all the singles I needed for edh other than baby jace.

Somebody summon me?

Jokes aside though, had a shit day at fnm, and am rethinking going to a big tourney tomorrow. Or if I do, whether to run pyrodragons, or dos rakis like tonight...

Your post was funny when I read it "had a shit at fnm" and was like "Good job bro!"

I made the mistake of rereading it, so now I just get to make a bad joke :/ Go to big tourney anyway, it'll be good practice. Plus a word of advice: pick a deck and stick with it. Seems to me like you are constantly changing decks, and even if you had a "sub par" build but had played and tweaked it for months you would be seeing better results.

Well, I had the 'old' pyrodragons before skynights and mdu's boros aggro and all that, and played that list a lot. After that I transitioned to the boros aggro, which was a natural feeling transition, and just yesterday got dos rakis.

So I haven't really been switching all that much... I dunno... I'm just frustrated I guess...

Also, the worst feeling part is that I couldn't identify any mistakes. I replayed each and evey game in my head, and I honestly don't know what went wrong. At least if I made a mistake, it'd be a lesson... Anybody else ever feel that way?

Time to make some nerds cry.

[deck]Reanimator is gone, yay[/deck]
Went 3-1, lost the first round to some janky burn deck, obliterated mono red the following three rounds. They literally cannot win the game, it's really pathetic.

Solid post, I notice you switch decks much to often RaidaTheBlade - all three of the those deck play very differently (though it may not seem like it at first glance).

@raida: the honest to purphoros truth is that the best way to become a better player is limited. If you can't draft with confidence you need to keep drafting. Drafting is the most skill intensive format and doing it a lot will help almost every aspect of your play. It may sound silly if you are seeking to be the best standard player you can be, but a single draft does more to elevate you than 2-4 standard events. Also you build up you collection, which is noice. I have a full common play set (and almost full uncommon) of theros without doing anything but drafting and opening a few prize packs. If you find a shop that gives store credit on prize packs that's the shop you play at since it can lead to "going infinite". Sealed is slightly worse than draft, but still better than constructed. And remember that every game is a chance to get better. And playing the same deck over and over is a great way to get
better at that deck, just tweak it as you go. I've been playing roughly the same deck since rotatation, and it is working out well for me.

Also I don't like plugging things that cost money, but Patrick Chapin's next level magic is chock full of wisdom. If you don't want to spent the money then pirate it

Red wine is my friend, until morning when it causes searing agony. Drinking in you early to mid 20s is way different than late 20s and beyond. Hangovers become much stronger. At least I didn't eat taco bell tonight, because while it does a great job of soaking up booze and helps keep you from tossing up your cookies, it ensures the runiest shits of your life.
