In fact, if it weren't for the possibility of getting drunk with some fellow FoS members, I just don't see any point in going. There's just no point.

These are tough times, men.
I haven't played Standard since there wasn't snow on the ground. And up here, that's like June or something.

Gratz LP.

There was no pauper last night sadly, but I ended up kicking some serious butt in commander. Nekusar is so much fun.

I miss playing with my Nin deck.

Usually that means I sit around, drinking beer, and play "peacekeeper"- i make sure nobody ends the game too early or combos off. Then, when I feel the game has gone on long enough, or I'm facing imminent doom, I draw a million cards, cast Time Stretch and kill the whole table.

Speaking of Nin, I picked up the new art Basalt Monolith for the deck. I think I like my Unlimited version better.

Just played Show and Tell in Commander. Table slams down fatties. I slam down Enter the Infinite.

Draw deck, float all of my mana, cast Upheaval, cast Sneak Attack, cast Trinket Mage, activate Sneak Attack, slamming Blightsteel.

Everyone yells and scoops.

I'd like to do that, but Nin's not that kind of girl. She likes to draw things out and make it hurt.

Also, who's all going to sactown? Ham? SM?

Pro's of pros writing articles: People take that shit literally and you get 4/5 lightning strike regularly in Thero's draft. Owen is like, the 12th person talking about how he doesn't like red in Thero's limited and it's getting like black in Avacyn Restored: unplayable accept when you're the only drafter which is close enough to all the time and you end up with a broken deck.
Eh? Red is bad in Theros draft? Been my go-to color in the few times I've played: burn shit down, voltron up a two-headed cerberus, and mix in a few combat tricks for your little dudes. Red's cards almost always good with another color (except maybe black).

Always felt like black was the weak one. Merchant is good, but
requires that he be built around. All the other good cards seem to be at rare.

The number of drafts you win with that has to be significant. That's a strong archetype.

As the season has progressed people have gotten more and more hip to how good white and blue are in theros draft. Last draft I was in had 2 pods and both myself and a guy in the other pod had near mono red decks. I should not be able to 6th pick a lightning strike, especially when I 5th picked one out of the pack I just passed. Then in the next pack I had basically the same thing happen with magma jet. Getting the 4/3 for 4 minotaur as my passout was just pure gravy.

My theory is that it is probably related to St. Louis's generally control heavy constructed meta (this seems to be esper country). That being said I have seen several boros burn decks floating around since Z's cfb article, but people play it so bad.

Every draft set the best archetype eventually becomes over-drafted, it lets other strategies thrive

That doesn't mean the best decks aren't the best decks and the worst color the worst color

In Theros Limited, red is the worst color, no matter how many drafts you win with it

I realize that, I hardcast it. Sorry for bad syntax, hungover at 8am when I posted that. Sequence of events was more like this.

My turn: SnT!
Everyone is happy with their huge dudes. End turn.
They take their turns.
My turn again: LOLSMASH.

We don't really play by the ban lists anymore, since pretty much all the people I play with try to play fair decks. My Nin deck is pretty fair, it just plays a lot of stupid cards and sometimes you arrive in Christmas Land.
